K Chose To Be Daring

“Congratulations baby girl! So my little bro is getting a baby! I can’t believe but I’m so damn happy”. Temitope said with her arms still wrapped around Ify. She pats Ify on her back after which she went back to her seat. She noticed Lanre was quiet. She asked Lanre if Ify already told her and that was why she was not surprised and was not congratulating Ify either.

“You already knew, right? The two of you are best friends from school so she must have told you”. Temitope said directing her words to Lanre. But did not get a response from Lanre. It took Christian to squeeze Lanre’s hand for her to respond, but not to what Temitope said. Apparently, Lanre had zoned out.

“What?” Lanre asked Christian. Temitope shook her head. She didn’t bother to repeat her question. She just focused back on her food. Lanre asked if she could make use of the restroom. She was led to the visitor’s restroom by one of the maids. Once she got in, she locked herself in and collapsed into the wall. Her hands were shaking and she seemed frightened. Tears streamed down her face. It would ruin her makeup, yet she could not help but cry. She bit her lips and beats herself.

After much crying, she texted Christian. She told him she wants to go home since she was not feeling well. She told him she won’t be able to come back to the dinning. Christian stood up. He told the Governor he would have to go because his fiancée was not feeling too well.

“What’s wrong with her?” Olasile asked. She was concerned since Lanre was her PA as she fondling calls her. Christian didn’t know what to say so he just said it was women thing. Olasile thought it was believable since she had left for the bathroom. Christian left after explaining the best he could. K watched him leave. He stood up as well wanting to leave also.

“Come with me!” The father said before K could walk out.

“I have some busy to attend to. Maybe later”. K replied. Temitope was already feeling embarrassed. Lanre and Christian already left and now her brother and her father. It turns out she was the only one that seemed happy with Ify’s news. Nobody talked about it. Even K who is the supposed expectant father did not say anything. Everyone was acting strange. Even though she could understand why Lanre and Christian had to leave, it was too sudden. She pitied Ify and at the same time thought she was strong. She looked calm despite not getting any reaction from K who is responsible for her pregnancy.

“Kehinde Adewale, meet me upstairs, now!” The Governor said and went upstairs. But K chose to be daring. He left the house instead. He drove out of the Governor’s residence after Christian’s car. He didn’t know why but he felt like explaining himself to Lanre. He noticed how she had completely zoned out when Ify spoke about her pregnancy. He felt bad and wanted to explain to her.
