Long Time No See

Ify started laughing after her mother hanged up. Is this how it was supposed to be? Is this the reason her aunt told her to fake a pregnancy? So she and K would be getting married earlier than planned? What a great and welcoming news this is to her but not to K!

“Congratulations ma!” The driver said to Ify. She smiled. He was congratulating her because she was pregnant, but she was going to take it as a congratulation on her wedding coming earlier than planned. She kept humming tunes she was not really sure what song it is.

That day, Ify got to K’s place where she calls home and got herself ready for the family dinner. She waited for K to come pick her up but she did not get to see his shadow talk less of K himself. He didn’t come to pick her up. But they were supposed to attend the family dinner together! Ify decided to wait some more. He did not come. She called, but he did not answer.

“Is he still angry about that incident? Worst is that it happened twice. I wonder who that young man is? If it was Lanre’s doing, then I’m going all out to shut her out forever”. Ify said to herself. She stood up and went outside. She called for the driver and asked him to take her to the Governor’s private residence. She got in the car only to see K just driving in. She stepped out of the car and ran towards him.

“Why did you not answer your phone? I was calling to know if you are coming to pick me up”. Ify said banging the window. K just stared at her refusing to open. But she kept hitting the window till K wind down.

“Get in!” He said to her. She frowned asking him if he was not going to freshen up since he was just returning from work.

“It’s not like I’m the one doing the building work there”. K said to her. He told her to get in. She did and he drove away. She wondered why he did not answer his call when he was coming, he sure did make her think otherwise.

They got to the Governor’s private residence. Temitope and Austin were already there. The Governor was there as well as his wife. Well, tonight he was not appearing before them as the Governor but as a father. They got inside the mansion and Ify got a welcoming hug from Temitope. She was hugged by Austin as well.

“Long time no see sister in-law! I thought you both would be married by now, but it got shifted. Hope it won’t be shifted again? I might just break one of you guys head. K’s own will do”. Temitope said to Ify sending a wicked smile to her brother.

Ify laughed. She assured Temitope that this time they were not going to shift the wedding and it may even happen earlier than planned this time.
