You Wanted To Meet?

“Because we are better at being friends. I don’t want a relationship with you, it will ruin our friendship. Friends do not easily get tired of each other, but when it comes to a relationship, couples do. I wouldn’t want to lose a friend after a fight. But I’ll let go of any man who doesn’t treat me well”. Lanre said to Christian. He disagreed with her saying friends don’t get tired of each other. He told her it all boils down to the individual. And if her fear was not being treated right, she knows better that he would do well treating her like a queen.

“But you love Kehinde, so you won’t let me in. Still I wonder what you are afraid of that you didn’t tell him he is the one responsible for your pregnancy. You didn’t even care he misunderstood you”. Christian said to Lanre. She hummed. He asked her if that was the best she could do at the moment. She shook her head.

“I believe you, you didn’t tell Mimi all those things. I think I know who did”. Lanre said to Christian. He hissed depressingly. It seems Lanre was never going to change in the end. He told her to stay out of it and that he would handle it himself. Lanre thanked him. He asked her why she told him it was for being her friend and going against his long time friend all for her. Christian told her it was from his heart so she did not need to thank him.

“It is because it is from your heart Chris. Your heart needs to be appreciated”. Lanre said.

“Then marry me”. Christian said after her. She just forced a smile. He scoffed and walked out. He left Lanre’s place that day with the aim of finding out why K would give out such information because as far as he was concerned, Lanre’s pregnancy was a secret only him, Eno, Lanre herself and unfortunately K knows about. He never mentioned this to Ify when they met. So it could not have been Ify. And Lanre has never gone to the hospital for any checkup. He had no clue why Lanre insist on not going to the hospital. He feared for her most times.

On the next day, Christian fixed meeting with K. He had done it so that he could get to know K’s aim. Between the two of them, K was the closest to Mimi. He never expected K to show up, but K did. And he was glad he did show up.

“What’s up? You wanted to meet?” K said when he arrived the spot where Christian sat in a bar. He sat down as well cos he knew he was not going to be standing when they talk.

“That what’s up, isn’t it too distance coming from a friend?” Christian asked. K just pouts his lips and raised his brows. He shrugs and then opened his hands in a way that says, “tell me about it” in an abnormal sense. Which means he didn’t want to hear it.
