Stay With Me Today

“Stay with me today! Stay with me these three days while I sort things out for you. Don’t go anywhere that is not by my side. I will go crazy if I stay farther away from again”. K said to Lanre. She frowned. She felt something was not right. K has never been this soft spoken to her. He was always assertive. He always use to want things to go his way. Why is he now so bent on having her with him now? She really could not put a pin on the actual point of what he was doing.

“Kehinde, I really don’t understand you. Like you got me confused. What is going on?” Lanre asked. K held her hand.

“Marry me!” K said. Lanre felt her heart beat increase. She felt a shock wave hit her for a second and she withdrew her hand from his. She shook her head for fear. All her life she had never been these frightened. She looked everywhere just to make sure they were the only one in the room. How could she forget such a horrible dream. It has not been long she had that dream and K was saying this to her. Will she eventually lose her life? She could not lose her life. She has to protect herself and her baby. She placed a hand on her stomach. It will be better not to tell K the truth. If she does things may get worst.

“Thank you for the clothes you bought for me. I will go take my bath now and dress up quickly so I can leave. I wonder how Eno must be feeling seeing I am yet to call”. Lanre said. She immediately recalled she did not find her phone when she woke up and was looking for it.

“Talking about my phone, did you see it? I have been looking for it”. Lanre asked K. He told her she was holding the phone and it fell down and broke. He told her he had sent it to a repair store and it will be delivered to them soon. Lanre sighed. She thought she had left her phone on the stool beside the bed before sleeping? It turns out she was holding it. She thanked K and went into the bathroom. She took her bath, dressed up and got back to the room. She sat down on the chair waiting for her phone. She was not going to leave without it.

“Breakfast should be here any moment from now”. K said to Lanre. She told him she does not want to eat. But K did not even bother with her. He knew quite well Lanre’s stubborn.

“When will my phone be delivered here? I have so much work to do today. I also need to be at the service of the Governor’s wife. She’s returning today”. Lanre said.

“She wants me to be among those welcoming her back to the country”. Lanre said yet again. K hissed. He had totally forgotten his mom was returning that day.
