K decided to go back to the hotel. He had tried all he could to find Ify but it was to no avail. And he could not even reach his father. So all he could do was to let things be. Whatever happens, he would not kill himself over it. To him, he has tried his best. He drove back to the hotel only to find the room where he had lodged empty. He thought Lanre must be hiding somewhere, probably in the bathroom or behind the curtains. So he checked for her in those places but could not find Lanre.
The realisation dawned on K that Lanre was gone. He rushed out of the hotel room and went to the reception desk demanding to know if she had seen Lanre leave the place. But none of the receptionist had an answer to K’s question. None of them knew how Lanre actually looks like aside from the fact that she was fair in complexion. When K brought her, it was late in the night.
K asked them to call the manager out. He was in a rage. One of the receptionist immediately contacted the manager seeking for his presence.
K requested for the CCTV camera footage to be checked when the manager came out to attend to him. He was allowed to check with the manager accompanying him to the control room.
Meanwhile, Lanre could not take her eyes off Ify who was focused on driving. Lanre was seated on the passenger’s seat in front while Ify did the driving.
Just a few minutes after K left, one of the hotel attendants had come to attend to Lanre. It seems K ordered breakfast on her behalf.
Lanre wondered how the attendant was able to get in. She asked the attendant if K did not lock the door. The attendant told her he did not lock it because they were yet to deliver breakfast to her. But they have been given an instruction to monitor her so she does not go out. So the attendant had to watch her eat. And leave only after she was done. Lanre nodded her head.
“But there is a lady that had stopped me at the door. She said she is a friend and would like me to help you out of the room”. The attendant had said to Lanre. Lanre did not hesitate to get on her fit with all readiness to leave even though she was yet to know the identity of the so called friend. Her aim was to leave. But then she suddenly stopped.
“This is looking too easy. How come I didn’t know K left the door unlock?”. Lanre said looking at the attendant. The attendant smiled. She brought out a card and showed it to Lanre.
“I stole this from the management. It’s a duplicate, incase the customer loses his access card. Your friend us waiting outside for you. I’m going to lose my job after this. But I have been compensated by your friend”. The hotel attendant finally said to Lanre, the truth.
