Been Over The Places

Christian told K that it was unlawful for him to pry like that. He was invading Lanre’s privacy. K told him that if it meant crippling anyone that stands in his way just to protect Lanre, he will do it. Christian shook his head.

“Chris, if I am not able to help her, do not hesitate to do so. She definitely won’t be dying at my father’s hand. But senator Ojo is a deadly snake that bites anyone, even his own. I don’t know what he will do to her”. K said.

“Does that mean you will no longer take those evidence from her? Or is there a plan you are yet to let me know about?” Christian asked K.

“She should do whatever she wants with those documents. I have my own ways?” K said.

“Does it has to do with marrying her into the family. Your mother told me you will be going to see her family soon. Probably after the court case?” Christian asked.

“It is far from it. But we will be going immediately after their first day at court”. K said. He took a good look at Christian.

“Thank you! I mean it”. K said to Christian. Christian scoffed. He wondered what made K thank him. But he did not bother to ask him any questions.

“Let’s have a good night out sometime soon. I miss going out with you”. K said. Christian nods. Then K told him he was leaving. They bade each other goodbye.

After K left, Christian decided to call Lanre for the first time. He knew K would know about the call since he already told him about keeping track of her activities in her phone. But he thought that should be the least of his bother.

“Lanre, it’s Chris”. Christian said immediately Lanre picked up. He did not wait for her to ask him questions before he introduced himself.

“Chris!” Lanre shrieked excitedly.

“How are you? I am sorry I’ve not been calling! How did you get my number? Oh sorry! What’s up?” Lanre said all at once.

“Can you breath first before you go on and on with words when next you are doing that?” Christian said to Lanre. Lanre laughed over the phone.

“Please don’t mind me! Just felt excited receiving a call from you”. Lanre said. Christian smiled.

“So how have you been?” Christian asked her. She told him she has been fine. And that she has just been a little over the places.

“You have been over the places? What have you been doing over the places?” Christian asked.

“Nothing much! Went on a little holiday in Warri. Came back. And I’ve been busy doing shit and nothing!” Lanre said.

“Crazy! That’s good though. It’s good you went on a holiday”. Christian said. Then he asked her if she was coping well with the baby in her womb. Lanre told him that she was coping well, and that she has not been facing any stress at all.

“I’m glad to know that you’ve been okay. I will call you later in the evening”. Christian said before ending the call.
