There are so many things in life that cannot be explained. No matter how much we tend to know more, we end up losing out on those things, not finding out anything at all about what we seek to know. Some things are better left unfold and untold. Some fights are not ours to take. Some destinies are not ours to change. And some people cannot be forced to change their habits either.
There are people who get punished for their misdeeds. Their are some whose punishment awaits their children, these people walk free on earth sowing evil to be reaped by their children while they get away with it. Their are some who even their third generation will not pay for their crimes no matter how great it is. More people like senator Ojo and Governor Adewale are ok the loose and as long as they are alive, taking out one Adewale and one senator Ojo will not make the state nor the country better. Sending one Alhaja to prison for murder, human trafficking, money laundering and so many more allegations held up against her will not solve the issues that threatens to bring the nation apart. And one Lanre cannot save a nation. She could not possibly save a state.
One less, and one more will not change the fact that there are more than a thousand corrupt individuals who would readily sell their mother land on a daily basis, steal from their mother’s pot, just to satiate their hunger. Nor will it change the fact that their are over a million individuals who has refused to come out of their holes in order to find a way to save their mother’s land.
Once a great man said, “People refuse to revolt because nobody wants to die”. People has refused to work for changes because of the fear of the unknown. Everyone would rather fold their arms and wait for who will go first. Waiting for who will die first or who succeeds. Someone has to be a scapegoat. They want to know the outcome if they should try to fight for freedom. But someone has to be a scapegoat. And nobody wants to be a scapegoat. It takes courage to be courageous.
Eno looked up to see little Modupe trying to crawl to pick up her toy. Fearing the child will fall, Eno rushed to pick her up.
“You should only crawl when you are on mattress. What if you fall?” Eno said as though the child could understand what she meant by mattress or even fall. The child tried to move out of Eno’s hand.
“Let her be! If she does not fall down, how will she stand up?” Mrs. Olayinka asked. Eno tried to argue. But Mrs. Olayinka took the baby from her. She placed Modupe on the floor.
“If you must be able to walk, then you must have learnt to crawl. And it takes a man who has fallen to stand up and walk”. Mrs. Olayinka said to Eno once more before taking a seat.
Eno rushed to answer the telephone when she heard it ringing.
“Hello!” She said immediately she picked it up.
“She is awake! Lanre is awake!” These words went straight into Eno’s heart causing a vibration that had escaped through her mouth.
“Aunty Lanre is awake!” She screamed causing the baby to cry out of shock.
Eno began to laugh not minding that the baby was crying. She picked up the baby and started dancing with her in circles whilst repeating the words, “Mommy is awake! Aunty Lanre is awake”.
Mrs. Olayinka went on her knees praising God. Well she felt that she has praised him enough, she jumped on her feet saying they were going to the hospital.
“I have to cook for my daughter? God knows she has not eating for over a year. I need to cook for her”. Mrs. Olayinka ran into the kitchen.
“Mama, the maid will do the cooking”. Eno called after Lanre’s mother who she now regard as her mother.
