GO GET MARRIED

He laid on the lounge, beside the pool, bare chested, looking at the setting sun through his dark shades, while the golden rays bathed his skin. He sipped the cocktail beside him, thinking about nothing. He was just too lazy to think. The security opened the door for his mom's car. He sighed in frustration. He wasn't ready for her. He knew exactly why she was there.

"What do you want this time mom?" Ethan asked sitting up on the lounge chair in front of the pool. Once his mom was out of the car.

His mother was standing hands akimbo, looking down at him.

           "What did you tell Melissa?"

"What? You want me to recount every word we said on the date?"

"You know what I'm talking about. You told her that she is not your type!"

"What? Was that what she said?"

"She didn't say you said that exactly, but you insinuated it to her."

"I just told her the truth. I told her that we were set up on that date and I admire her but I don't feel anything for her, just like the other girls you have always wanted me to be together with. I know what they all want."

              "How do you know that?!"

"I know because, I have dated a lot of girls and once they know who I am, they pretend to love me."

"That is the mindset you have Ethan. There are nice girls all over the place, you're not just seeing them. Melissa is a nice girl and an independent lady too."

"Mom, could we just stop talking about this thing please? Could we not talk about me and women each time we meet?"

"No, we can't. You have to get married as soon as possible and the girls I bring for you, you will have to marry one of them unless you won't get anything from your dad!"

His brows furrowed in a confused frown.  "What did you say?"

"Your dad wants you to get married before you take over the company. He was worried about you before he passed."

        "What? Why?"

"I don't know." His mother sat on the other lounge chair beside him.  "He was afraid that you wouldn't get married."

       "Why would he think that?"

"Ethan, you have not dated any woman we know of and it gets me wondering where these women you said you have dated are."

"Mom, I don't need to be promiscuous for you to know that I date girls."

"Sometimes, it gets me wondering if you are ever into girls..." his mom said lowly.

Ethan's eyes widened in surprise, he stared at his mom for a while. He has never considered them thinking that way. He had never questioned his sexuality, he was sure who he was.

"I'm straight mom if that's what you are asking."

"Prove it then. I'm resigning in a couple of months, probably two or three months and you should be taking over, but that's unless you are married."

Ethan looked away from his mom and took off his dark shades. He felt his dad's decision was a bit unfair, he had put everything into the company, he had been diligent, hardworking, efficient to see that the company grew into what it was now and he had to perform a task to get the company?

"You've got to stop shoving women on my face then, I'll find my own woman."

"When? I'm going down in three months."

"I'll find a woman before then, just let me do my thing."

"I'm counting on you," his mom said.

"Alright mom," Ethan said and laid back on his lounge chair.
