MISUNDERSTANDING 2

Ethan looked at her, confusion written all over his face. "What are you talking about right now?"

"Never mind," she said and made to leave. She didn't even know why she had gone through the trouble of explaining things to him. He had already given her the reason for not caring if she was dead or alive. Why was she even mad that he didn't check?

He held her arm tightly and drew her back. He looked her in the eyes and she looked down avoiding his gaze. It kind of made something crawl in her stomach and she didn't want that feeling.

"What did you say? You were sick? Why didn't you let me know?"

"Why would I let you know, when it was clear that you don't even care? How could I be inside my room for days and you didn't want to know if I was still breathing. That only shows your level of nonchalance." Why was she hammering on him not checking up on her?

"All this while, I didn't know you were in there," he said releasing his grip on her. "You told me that seven was alright, I inquired about the best restaurant around here and made reservations. Then, I went out to pick something. When I came back, you were not in your room and it was almost seven. I knocked and knocked, but I realised you were not around, I dropped the name of the restaurant by your door and left, in case you forgot that we had to go for dinner. I still went in got dressed and headed to the restaurant and waited.

"I waited for you to show up, even if you show up late. I left that restaurant around past eleven when they were about to close. You see Charlotte in there, that was where I met her. She was one of the waitresses there and she was nice to me. She helped drive me home that day and made sure I was at home before she left. Only for you to tell me that you were sick and you have been in there for all those days? "

Faith swallowed. She didn't know what to say, she glanced at her door and glanced back at him, then looked down. She didn't even know where to look. It was true that she had felt a bit under the weather that day, but she was never serious about the date. It was her fault, but not entirely her fault, she had just wanted to rest for a few minutes before seven only to find herself awake this evening, she shouldn't have taken those Valium pills.

She could imagine how hurt he had felt that night, no wonder he had asked if she didn't find him worthy enough, if she had only taken him as a jester. She only felt bad that he waited, she didn't blame herself so much. She finally looked up at him.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, it wasn't intentional."

"Right, I guess there had been a misunderstanding here."

His room door opened again and Charlotte came out again as cheerful as ever. "Yay! I knew it has all been a misunderstanding! I'm so happy that you guys are talking now. I hate a toxic environment because I need all the happiness I can get in my life right now." She did a funny dance.

They both looked at her. Ethan started laughing and even Faith couldn't help chuckling.
