TALKING WITH NORA

She sat in her room alone, by her dresser looking at herself, twisting her face and angling it from side to side to know how she would look with a particular face. Then she took some pictures and sent them to Nora, tagging it going out for dinner with my room hate. Nora had responded almost immediately with a dancing emoji and blocks of questions.

'Are you guys a thing now?'

'How did he get a date with you?'

'Oh, my God! I can't wait to hear all of it!'

'If I wasn't on duty, I would have come right there.'

'Are you kidding me right now or are you pulling my legs?'

Faith smiled and shook her head. When did kidding and pulling legs become different things?

'Jeez! Faith, I told you, you guys have chemistry!'

Faith's eyes widened as a light chuckle left her mouth. Chemistry my foot. Nora had not even allowed her to text one single reply.

'Faith, so you hid this from me and pretended you weren't interested?'

         'Are you there?'

        'Why ain't you replying?'

         'When did this happen?'

          'Spill!'

Faith chuckled. She wondered where she had met Nora again. What sort of a crazy girl was she? She had to dial Nora's number and Nora answered almost immediately and started talking immediately.

"I am not supposed to be answering calls on duty, but I would break bonds for this! Girl! I was supposed to scream out my lungs but I can't, some patients might die of a heart attack. Now, spill!"

"Finally, are you going to let me talk?"

"You are already talking. You even made up? Faith, there are a lot of things you're hiding from me. How did you learn how to makeup like that? You've landed yourself double roles on my wedding day. My makeup artist and my chief bride's maid." Faith chuckled at that. "I'm damn serious! Now, spill!"

Faith sighed inwardly. She would say spill, but would not let her talk. Anyway, she was the one that brought this upon herself.

"Are you sure you're done now?" Faith asked.

"Don't try to make me beg. Just the other day, you were over at mine, crying like the cry baby you are. Oh, Ethan and his girlfriend this, Ethan and his girlfriend that. No wonder you were that hurt. Just tell me, I can't wait to spill it all to Danny when I get off work in the morning, no he would have gone to work when I return. I can't wait to tell him when he comes back. Now, spill!"

"I will still get a now spill again, after this sentence I'm making. Do you know you talk a lot?"

"Of course, it runs in the blood... Wait, what? Faith, I could kill you from here!"

       "Now, spill?" Faith teased.

        "Now, spill!" Nora yelled.

"Alright, first, this is not a date like you are thinking."

"What is it then? What do you call a man and a woman going out to eat dinner together, fight?"

"Ethan's girlfriend is here and she invited me along with them."

"What are you talking about? Is it Jennifer?"

       "No, Charlotte."

"Wait, how many girlfriends does he have?"

Faith shrugged. "I don't know, Jennifer left, I woke up to see Charlotte. This is just a dinner to make up for the damages Jennifer caused me."

"Damages?" Nora asked. "So you are going there as a tag-along, I don't believe you. Why did you makeup like that?"

"It was Charlotte's handwork, something about having dreams of becoming a fashion..."

A knock came by her door, and it flung open almost immediately and Charlotte poked her head in.

        "We are all set."
