Axel had given Ethan his car for the night, Ethan had sat on the wheel and Charlotte had taken a seat beside him, while Faith had sat behind and a pronounced silence swept over them as they drove towards town. At a point, Charlotte tuned on the music player and Wale ft Usher's 'Matrimony' started playing.
Faith looked up and caught Ethan's eyes on her from the rearview mirror, she quickly removed her eyes and looked over at Charlotte. Charlotte was busy enjoying the song, her eyes closed as she nodded to the rhythm of the song.
Faith tried to keep her eyes down as they went through the brightly lit road and she felt like the ground could open so she could fall inside. She didn't even know why Ethan would make her feel like this. What was he? Why was she avoiding his gaze? He was nothing but a player, if not why would a guy with a girlfriend, who was right there with him, play the gazing game with another woman right there.
It was only a player that loses a girlfriend in one night and gets another the other night. What sort of a man was he. She was not going to let him intimidate her like that anymore, after all, she wasn't one of his conquests. She looked up and his eyes were on her. She stared at him, daring him. She wondered how he was managing to drive with his eyes on her from the rearview mirror.
Then he focused on the road for a while and his eyes shifted back to her. She scowled at him and his eyes lit up with a smile. Why was he smiling right now? Didn't he know this was serious? If she was was alone in that car, she would have scolded the hell out of him. Since she couldn't talk, so that Charlotte won't suspect anything, she stuck out her fore finger and her middle finger, pointed them to her eyes and pointed them towards the road, the scowl still on her face.
That made him to chuckle. She glared at him and Charlotte opened her eyes and looked at him, she quickly faced her phone. Charlotte looked back at her and she pretended she was busy with her phone.
"Are you laughing at me right now?" Charlotte asked Ethan.
"Of course, how can you be so cute?"
"I'm dancing to a music I'm enjoying. You guys should enjoy it too." She turned back to look at Faith who was now looking out of the window. "Faith, enjoying this song? It Koffe's 'Toast'.
Faith didn't know the song, neither did she know the artist. She wasn't interested in songs, courtesy of her father. She just looked at Charlotte and smiled. The car finally jerked to a stop and Faith looked in front of her to see a beautifully lit restaurant in front of them.
"We are finally here!" Charlotte announced.
Ethan killed the engine of the car and unstrapped his seat belt while Charlotte unstrapped hers. I was busy opening the door to get out of that car.
