Faith woke up with that blinding headache and a stubborn hunger. She lay there in bed looking at the ceiling while her head throbbed. She tried to get up but the pain throbbing in her temples was so intense she saw stars. She slowly eased out of bed sideways holding her head so that her brain won't fall off. She made it to her bathroom and turned on the tap, she had to stand, cupped her hands so that water could run inside, she splashed it upwards towards her face. The water hit her face and ran down her neck and breast, soaking her clothes.
She went back to her medicine cabinet and took out two Alka-Seltzers and a Valium, she noticed her hands were shaking and she started praying to a God she didn't believe in. 'Please let me not turn into an alcoholic' She opened her room door and went to the living room. Ethan was sleeping on the couch. She glanced at his door and wondered why he wasn't in his room.
She tiptoed past him to the kitchen to find what to eat. When she opened the door she was surprised to see that the bottle has been cleared. She stopped and wondered how she got to her bed. She remembered vividly that she and Charlotte had passed out in the kitchen. She smiled as she remembered Charlotte and the events of last night.
"Crazy girl," she muttered to herself.
She went over to the fridge and took the remaining grilled cheese sandwiches, french fries and milkshake she had left there the previous day. She opened the door and peeped if Ethan was still there and if he was going to wake up anytime soon. When she was satisfied that he was deeply asleep, she went back to the kitchen and closed the door so slowly, so that it won't make a noise.
After she had devoured all the food in less than five minutes, she tiptoed back to her bedroom and fell back into bed with relief. She smiled to herself for reasons she couldn't understand. Still soggy with alcohol, she drew up her blanket, covered herself and went back to sleep.
It was around 10:30 A.M. when she woke up again and needed more aspirin. She felt worse as her stomach was hot and burning. She went over to the cabinet and took Maalox hoping that one day it won't stop working for her. She lay back in bed, waiting for the Maalox to take effect that cold sweat and that wave of nausea were present now. She lay in bed for a while until her stomach was calm. She stood up and went to her door, opened it a little and peeped. Ethan wasn't lying on the couch anymore, but someone was vomiting their intestines out.
She stepped out of her room and went over to Ethan's door she could hear him scolding Charlotte for getting so drunk. Charlotte just kept vomiting. She thought of what to do to repay the kindness and she went back into the kitchen. A few minutes later, she was knocking on Ethan's door with a bowl of oatmeal and some Avomine tablets.
