Faith came down from the taxi and paid the man. She needed a small car to drive herself around town. It was dark and the street was busy, with party-goers and drivers. She walked into the 24 hours Go Mart to pick up some groceries and drinks. She was going to get drinks even if she had promised herself not to drink, but she could fail herself and nobody would know, it's not like she had any other person to make promises to anyway.
She went and got a cart and start picking the things she wanted. As she picked, she recalled her discussion with Ethan in the office.
"I told her that I can't stay away from her, but she doesn't believe me."
"Mr Floyd, can you leave my office I would refund your money."
"Imagine, she said we should be formal, no first names, no touching of each other's stuff, but she keeps breaking the rules."
"Alright, I get it. This is about last night. I'm sorry I took your wine, alright? I wanted to drink something and I noticed that my wine is finished, you were not even supposed to know. I will buy it on my way back. So you could leave my office please."
Ethan had stared at her for a while without saying anything. "How rude of you Miss Prescott? Is this how you treat clients?"
Faith had been frustrated. She had thought of what to do or what to say to him so that he could leave her office. She had thought of faking a call to Charlotte, reporting Ethan to her, but she had thought what if Charlotte wasn't around and Ethan knows.
"I won't leave this place until you tell me what to do with my roommate so that she would be lenient with me. Don't tell me to mind my business, I'm interested in her."
"Why not talk to me directly? Why go through all these childish processes?"
"Because you won't let me talk to you." he had said, his jaw set, his eyes fixed on her. "Miss Prescott, why can't you move on with life? You wrote down the way you wanted your life to go and it went that way, why can't you just let it go? You have built your whole on your fantasy, get a degree at twenty-one, start-up my agency at twenty-two..."
Faith's eyes had widened like she had seen a ghost, she had been stunned to the marrow. That stuff he was talking about was in her diary. She had written down what her whole life was going to be like. She had planned out her life and it had worked out fine for her until Noah had engaged her.
"It's because of those things you wrote down that you feel you are a failure, you feel your life have come to a stop and you can't even give living a try."
The anger had seethed in Faith. Her heart rose up and down, I couldn't control the tempo. "How dare you..." She gasped in enough air. "How dare you go through my stuff?"
"We stopped minding each other's business a long time ago, besides, if your diary was private enough, you wouldn't have left it carelessly in the kitchen.
Faith had glared helplessly at him. She didn't know what else to do.
