DINNER PARTY 5

Nothing at the party interested her again after seeing Noah and the other woman, she suddenly started feeling hot and very uncomfortable and felt like she needed a stronger drink. This was not the woman she had seen Noah with in San Francisco. Was Noah a Casanova all along or did he just turn into one recently? It has not been up to three weeks she left San Francisco and she had seen him with two other women.

What was he doing in Los Angeles? Does he live here now? How did he manage to come to Danny's company's dinner party? Was he an affiliate? She had so many questions running through her head. Was she sure she had seen Noah or was it just a figment of her imagination? She broke into a cold sweat as she felt all the Alka-Seltzer, aspirin and Valium wearing off, she started feeling worse.

"Are you alright?" Ethan asked looking meticulously at her.

She stared at him and had to stare for a moment before her brain processed what he said. Even at that, she asked the question that has been tugging at her heart.

"Did you see the man that just left here?"

Ethan's brows creased and his eyes dimmed as a small frown crawled onto his face. "Your ex?"

"His name is Noah. Was he really standing here a few seconds ago?"

Ethan nodded. "Do you need a drink?"

"Of course," she said almost immediately. "Something strong, please."

"I got you," he said and went off.

She stood there confused, she didn't know what else to do she waited for a little for Ethan and decided to go home and drink at home instead. She looked around to see if she would see Noah anywhere or if she will see Nora and tell her that she was leaving. When she didn't see any of them, she started leaving hoping to drop Nora a message that she was off.

Ethan brought two glasses of champagne, but Faith was gone. He dropped the glasses on the slab and started searching the room for her. His eyes darted from one corner to the other. Then, he saw her leaving the place. He followed her immediately, pushing his way through the little crowd of guests.

When he got outside, she had already draped her fur coat and was entering a cab.

"Faith, wait!" but she was already inside the cab. He flagged down a cab too and told the cab to follow Faith's cab.

Her cab stopped in front of the apartment and he heaved a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that she came home. She got out and paid the cabman. He got down too and paid the cabman, tipping him heavily. The cabman thanked him for his generosity.

He followed Faith as she hurried into the foyer. She looked upset. He followed quickly. She got into the elevator before he could get in and he pressed and followed her.

When she came into the apartment, she turned on the lights, kicked off her shoes, pulled her coat and dumped it on the couch. She headed straight to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of chilled aquavit, her favourite. He came in and grabbed the bottle from her. She glared at him like she had just seen a ghost. He left the kitchen with her drink and she followed suit.

      "Can I have my drink?"

"You want to kill yourself because of a mere man who doesn't even give a shit about you?!"

        "It's none of your business!"

"Faith, you are too beautiful and good for this."

Tears rolled down her cheeks. "Can I have my drink back?"

        "You can't have it back."

She moved forward and tried to grab the drink from her, but he raised his hand and she did a little jump to be able to get it, but to no avail. He watched her face and his eyes settled on her lips. When she couldn't reach it, she stopped jumping and stared at him. He bent over immediately and took her lips.
