Ethan stared at Faith confused and went and sat down on the stool that Faith stood up from. He stared at Charlotte.
"Were you crying?"
Charlotte sniffed and shook her head but she didn't say anything. Ethan looked meticulously at her.
"What happened? Where you both arguing?"
"Arguing? Why would we argue?"
"Charlotte, your eyes are puffy and your nose is red and Faith ran out of the kitchen sobbing. Do you want to tell me that nothing happened here? Is it about that make out incident? I have told you..."
"Well, if it's the make out incident like you have said, I guess we won't be seated talking while facing each other."
"What happened?"
"We were just discussing issues." Charlotte shrugged. "Personal issues and we started tearing up. Its nothing. Have you eaten anything yet?"
"You always do this."
"Always do what?" Charlotte asked.
"You know, I'm beginning to wonder. You behave strangely. You don't get mad when you see me with another woman. You have seen me kiss Faith not once, but you've never thrown a fit. Who are you?"
"Really? You want me to nag because you made mistakes that anyone could make. I'm too lazy to be a nag or to let anything bother me. I just want all the happiness I can get right now."
"Ignoring those things are doesn't make you happy."
Charlotte chuckled a little. "Well, you think I'm not happy enough? I'm happy that you came into my life, I'm happy that Faith came into my life and I appreciate it. Although my mission here was not completed."
"What do you mean by that?"
"You will understand soon." Charlotte yawned and stood up. "Oh, I feel so sleepy. Come to bed." She started leaving the kitchen.
Ethan sat there looking at her until she left and gently closed the door. His eyes darted from one place to another.
Faith had run into her room and had locked her door. She couldn't believe that Charlotte was going through that. Knowing that you were dying and still lived happily was something of bravery for her. She wouldn't have been happy, she would have been thinner. The ordinary ulcer she had, she was always looking so pale and always forlorn.
She needed to talk to someone right away. Nora was at work, she might not be available. She stood up from bed, went to her closet and took a thick coat and wore it over her robe. She started leaving the room. She was going to talk to Charlie about it.
She dialled his number he answered on the third ring. She couldn't even talk, she was tearing up and just held the phone to her ear.
"Faith? Are you there?" Charlie asked. There was silence at the other end Charlie had to remove the phone from his ear and stared at the screen. "Faith talk to me. Where are you? Are you alright?"
Faith finally sniffed. "I need to see you."
"I'll be right there. Where do you want me to see you?"
"Are you at home?"
