After a long night, out with friends, Charlie and Nora, Faith finally had no other flimsy excuse to stay out of the house and finally arrived at no other option than to go home. When she got home, Ethan was seated in the living room waiting with a glass of drink. He quickly raised his head when she came in, stood up and quickly strode to her. Before she could utter anything, he was dragging her across the room towards the kitchen.
She was given no time to say anything because she was confused. When they were in the enclosed space of the kitchen, he gently closed the door and let go of her hands.
"What is this?" she asked slowly not certain of what emotion her tone gave out.
"Faith, I..."
"It's Miss Prescott!" she objected quickly.
He stared at her for a while, the expression on his face was that of urgency that she couldn't quite comprehend. But she couldn't even fathom the particular emotion that was running through her at the moment. Anger or Attraction? The latter most conveniently seem to be the case because she didn't understand why her heart kept thumping and her abdomen fluttering like they haven't been in the kitchen alone before.
But, despite that deviation, she had to be angry, she had to be apologized to, so she had to let the anger supersede the attraction, but she wasn't certain of that, she could only try.
"Well, then Miss Prescott. I have a favour to ask of you."
"Don't you think I deserve an apology?"
"An apology?"
"I was barged in on, had the worst notion of and even called names in my space!"
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that it bothered you so much. I was going to apologise anyway after you have heard the favour I had to ask."
"Speak," she said firmly, staring defiantly at him. Could she be that mad at him?
"I made an utterance to my mom this morning and it involves you."
She knew what he was talking about, her heart started to pound at the mere thought of it. She needed to do something as a cover. She went to the fridge, took out a jar of water, poured quickly into a glass and gulped it down. "I told you not to involve me in your business, neither will I involve you in mine."
"It's rather too late, Fai—Miss Prescott." He took a few steps forward.
She turned to look at him, his green eyes radiated that urgency she had seen at first. "What do you mean by that?"
"I introduced you to my mother as my girlfriend." He looked down.
"What?" she feigned surprise.
"I just needed to stop her from talking and..." He glanced at her.
"You... How could you take such a rash decision? What do you expect me to do?"
Ethan moved closer. "I'm sorry okay, it was just in my head, next thing I knew I was blurting it out."
"I don't wish to have any involvement in this. She hates me enough that I embarrassed her last night and you want to put us in this awkward situation? You shall go and tell her that I am nothing but your roommate and that we have absolutely nothing in common. If that is all you have to say to me, then I shall take my leave. " She turned and made for the door.
He saw the door handle twisting and he looked alarmed. His mother was coming into the kitchen. He strode over to her and grabbed her by her wrist, turning her to face him, he said, "I'm sorry Miss Prescott, but I have to save myself."
Before she could tell what was going on, his lips captured hers, devouring hers, her back was pressed against the fridge, his left arm wrapped around her waist, his right hand fondling her breast. She was so confused that she grabbed his shirt. Her legs were watery and her whole body burned for him. Her brain knew that she had to push him away, but her body was speaking the opposite language and before she knew what she was doing, she was kissing him back.
The kitchen door opened and Ethan's mom came in, her jaw dropped as she saw them. Faith's eyes trailed to her and she pulled her lips away. Ethan stopped momentarily and turned to look at his mom. He looked back at Faith.
"What are you...?" Faith started to say but was hushed with his lips crashing once more on hers.
His mom quickly retreated out of the kitchen and shut the door. He kept kissing her menacingly and she had to gather all her willpower to push him away.
"What are you doing?"
He staggered a few steps back, his eyes were filled with passion, not from the acting, but real, raw desire. "I'm sorry," he muttered out of breath.
"You should not involve me in whatever mess you find yourself in. I am not interested in..."
"Miss Prescott, I'm sorry but if you keep talking, I'm afraid I'll have to hush you with another kiss," he said, his voice raspy.
"Holy shit!" she cursed and started leaving the kitchen. She didn't trust herself to stand there another second without jumping on him.
She left the kitchen and saw Mrs Dolores perched on a couch in the living room, a look of derision was on her face when she saw Faith. Faith walked past her, entered her room and shut the door. Ethan came out of the kitchen, wiping his lips with his thumb. He halted when he saw his mom.
"What was that?" his mom asked.
"What do you think? Things got steamy when I tried apologising to my girlfriend because of the way you barged in on us and had to have the wrong notion about her. That's how attracted we are to each other." He sat down on the couch opposite his mom. "But then again, you ruined the moment by barging into the kitchen again. Whatever brought you to the kitchen at this hour?"
"You have really gone crazy."
Ethan shrugged and smiled at her. "That's what it feels like to love a woman. She drives me crazy."
Faith listened from her door and her heart fluttered with every word Ethan said to his mother. "How could he lie so perfectly?"
"I hope you get over this infatuation soon, that girl is not a match for you."
"Why not, mom? Since when did you start despising a girl I love? I have never introduced any girl to you before and it got you worried, now I'm introducing a woman I love to you and you are worried about if she is my match? I thought you would be receiving us with two hands."
"I don't despise her alone, I despise her for you. She is aggressive and uncultured. Which wife would fight a mother-in-law?"
"She was drunk that night mom, you can't judge her with that."
"A refined woman should never drink to a stupor! Talk much of a future..."
"Goodnight mom, I won't stand here and listen to you talk about Faith like that. We have already talked about this." Ethan stood up and went over to Faith's door and tried the handle but it was locked. He knocked. "Babe, please open the door! Babe?"
Faith tiptoed back to her bed and sat down abruptly, coming to the sudden realization that whether she liked it or not, she has gotten involved in a family scandal, one she was never prepared for.
Ethan turned to his mom and shrugged. "You have just made us have another fight, now, I will have to spend another night without my love. She locked me out."
His mother glared at him like he has lost his nuts. She watched him as he went over and sat on a couch that was a different colour from the one she sat on.
Faith came out of her bedroom, Ethan's mother was no longer in the living room, but Ethan was seated there in his pyjamas pants and a t-shirt staring at her. He looked ever so handsome and his green eyes gleamed in the light of the room. She had worn a see-through, thigh-length nightdress. She too couldn't comprehend why she wanted to seduce him. But she was beyond all reasoning, she just wanted to feel his touch, she wanted to feel his lips on hers and she wanted him to run his finger on her bare skin, sending those sudden shocks into her bloodstream.
His intense gaze was making her legs all wobbly. She was ready to throw all caution to the wind, she was going to take the bull by the horn. She started moving towards him, in counted steps. He stood up too. He looked so strong and manly that she wondered how she had managed to ignore those attributes for a long time now. Her steps became faster and firmer as she went, he also came to her in fast strides.
Finally, they met at the corner of the couch and it was a combustion of two raving desires. He took her lips immediately, she wreathed her arms around his neck, standing on tiptoes to be able to kiss him deeply. He pressed her against him tightly, devouring her like her lips were the reason he was alive. He pulled the sleeve of her nightdress off her shoulders still kissing her. Her whole body shuddered at the touch of his bare hands on her skin and she heard a low hum and only realized it was from her throat.
He pulled the dress down further, revealing her succulent breast which have swollen and yearned for his touch. Her arms slowly left his neck and moved down to his chest, to his hips and she started pulling it up. They stopped kissing momentarily as she pulled his shirt up, he raised his hands as she pulled his shirt away and flung it away. He groaned when her palms touched his chest and their lips clashed again.
He lifted her and carried her on his body, she wrapped her legs around his hips as they kissed intensely, moaning at the shots of pleasure up their veins. He carried her to the couch and lowered her down, climbing on top of her, still kissing her. Then, he left her mouth and went down to her neck, she gasped as her body quivered in anticipation, he went further down to her neck bone, her chest, leaving her gasping and moaning at each touch of his lips on her skin.
Then he looked up at her with that mischievous lopsided grin of his. "You have a dirty mind. What are you dreaming about?"
She sat up in bed immediately gasping. She looked around. She was alone in her room, still dressed in the outfit she came back with. She glanced at the clock, it was 1:00 A.M. and she had just slept off at 12:30. What was going on with her? Why was she having that dream? She slowly got out of bed and went to her door. She unlocked it, open it gently and carefully peeped from the creek.
Ethan was curled up on the couch, fast asleep. She let out a deep breath and sighed. It was all a dream. She gently closed her door and started going back to bed but stopped. Why was he out there? She took a duvet from her closet and started towards the living room. She opened the door gently, making sure to minimize the whining sound from the door. She moved to him by the couch and started covering him up hoping he doesn't wake up to see her.
As she looked at his handsome face, she recalled the steamy incident in the kitchen and she closed her eyes in an attempt to blot that away, but try as she could, it came even stronger. He stirred in his sleep and she quickly left his side and ran into her bedroom.
The room was cold when Faith awakened the next morning. She turned onto her side and straightened her flannel gown. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand and saw that it was later than she had expected. Sleeping and waking up shortly because she couldn't stop thinking of Ethan had its toll on her. She sat up in bed and dropped her phone on the nightstand before her feet hit the cold floor. Pulling on her robe, she shuffled to the bathroom, turned on the heater and turned on the water in the tub to hot.
She had finally made up her mind to go and see the person her doctor wanted her to see. She groaned at the mere thought of that. She was doing this because she didn't want to be confined to bed not because something was wrong with her, just like her doctor had implied. While waiting for her water to get hot, she brushed her teeth, studying herself in the mirror.
When she spat out the foam from her mouth, she looked at her lips. She could still feel his lips on hers. The scene in the kitchen played out again in her head and she shook her head.
"Faith, you shouldn't be thinking of this now," she cautioned herself. It was a mere kiss. But, it would have gone beyond a kiss if she hadn't had the will to shove him off her.
As she kept having cameos of last night even while and after having her bath, she kept convincing herself that it was because she was lonely and yearned for a man's touch. It was nothing more. And she was sure it was all lust. It was a good thing that Noah was in town. It was better to satisfy her sexual urge with a devil she knew than an angel she knew nothing about, but this particular angel was devilish in his ways.
She brushed her hair on the dresser and contemplated if she should wear lip gloss, but she decided against it immediately. Who was she trying to impress? When she was done dressing up, she grabbed her handbag and left the room, planning to grab a glass of juice in the kitchen before she leaves. Thankfully, there was no one in the living room and she went into the kitchen.
As she moved towards the fridge to get her juice, Ethan barged into the kitchen and locked the door. She stared at him in bewilderment, her heart hammering against her ribcage.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
He started towards her and she started stepping backwards and he kept coming, his eyes stalking her. She started breathing fast, wondering what he was coming for. She moved back until her back hit the wall and there was no more place she could move to.
"Stop right there!" she commanded. He stopped a few inches away from her. "What do you want?"
"I want you to be my girlfriend until my mom leaves."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
Because you attract me so much and "My fiancé is in town, but I want to work things out with him."
"Oh, that's right. I see."
"So, please don't put me in an awkward position. I have waited for this day to come and it's finally here, I don't want anything to jeopardise it."
"Why did you kiss me back last night?"
"Huh?"
"You kissed me back when I kissed you."
Her face flushed and she searched for what to say. "That was because I was surprised... I mean you grabbed me and I didn't know what else to do, " she said, hoping her voice was firm enough.
He smiled. "I'm sorry if I surprised you, it was because of my mom. You should have pushed me away if you didn't want it."
"I did it because of your mom!" she blurted.
"Then why don't you keep doing it because of her?" he took a few steps closer to her. "Faith, please don't just disagree outrightly, just give it a thought. We don't need to pretend outside of this apartment, so your fiancé won't see you. I just need my mom to cut me some slack in this whole marriage thing."
She stared at him for a while. "Well then, I will have to think about it, right now, I have an appointment and I'm late."
"Thank you."
She nodded and started heading out, but bef ore she walked past him, he grabbed her arm and drew her back.
"One more thing. If we have to pretend it, we have to stay in the same room."
"What?"
