Chapter Ten; is it over?

Joleen raced to her room. She curled up in her bed and wrapped herself with her duvet as she lay there blank over the poor lighting in her room. And suddenly all the memories came dropping in.

From almost choking to having a sexual encounter to smacking her boss? Only the thought of it was unbelievable. This dream of her was taking too long because she was sure this night wasn't real.

What will be her faith here? What would be her faith to grow into a top automobile designer? V

A little liquor clustered around her eyes as she wiped it just as they formed. Was this how it would end for her?

Before she knew it, it was daybreak again but not a single sleep let into her eyes. She stayed up thinking of everything and the long night wasn't enough to comprehend everything that happened in just a couple of minutes the day before.  It was her off day that day, it was only 6 Am. It was only a few hours left before she would be summoned by the house supervisor to get served her sack letters.v

She sat up and moved to the square slightly bold mirror hanging on her wall. The thought that she might soon be leaving this premises dawned on her. She would definitely miss here, but the most striking concern was where would she move to if she got kicked out? She had no savings or any money. Her grandmother's health would suck her dry at the end of each payday.

Why exactly did she slap Mr. Wayne? A question she wasn't quite sure what the answer was. He didn't force himself on her, matter of fact, she returned every ounce of his kiss.

But there was another question which was unanswered too, 'why did he kiss her?' 'And why did she return his kiss?'

She entered her bathroom, took a warm shower, and headed out to catch a train to the hospital.

It seem like a slow ride that morning. She was lost in her thoughts the whole ride. Flashes from the night before still taunted her, but it was mostly the kiss part and always followed by the slap part.

She sighed as she realized they had made a stop at her dropping point. She got her tired self together and made her way out of the train.

It was MD ANDERSON cancer center. Her grandmother's tumor wasn't cancerous, however, she was treated and managed in that clinic.

She said hello to a few doctors, nurses, and patients that she had become very familiar with over time.

Her grandma was on oxygen and numerous electrode wires were connected to her chest. She was asleep, and it's been for days now. She stared at her once very lively grandma laying helplessly on the bed, unable to move her own body.

She dropped her bag on the chair beside the bed, reaching her grandma's face, moving away some strands of her hair from her face.

"Hey," she said as tears gathered around her eyes causing her vision to become blurry.

She heard some footsteps approaching towards her, causing her to wipe her eyes, sniffing about twice before turning to face them.

It was Dr. Gerald along with nurse Temi.

"You good?" The nurse asked seeing her state.

"Yea," she responded, wiping her eyes once more.

They checked her grandma while she sat on the low couch chair beside the bed. She moved her bag from the chair to the table which was just in front of the chair.

She got out a pack of food along with her laptop. Bad habit, but she ate while she practiced her designs.

She must have fallen asleep because she woke up almost at dawn, it was 5 pm. She stayed with her grandma some more time before she made her way back to San Antonio where the popular Wayne mansion was located.

She discovered that the house supervisor was currently out of town, so Madam Francisca always ran things when he was not in. And as for when she got back, Madam Francisca didn't act like anything was abnormal.

Mr. Wayne mostly related information to only the supervisor, so she still had her fingers crossed at least till he got back.

It was training day again, as their training was only three times a week. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

She made sure to not be late today so she arrived at Venus at 9:35 Am. She settled in but their learning hall was still empty.

It was almost 10:Am now, the class was almost full and she tried to get acquainted with her colleagues.

"Miss Joleen?" She heard a slender voice call from behind, she turned toward the feminine voice that called her name.

She was faced with a slim but tall lady who wore a high-heeled stiletto shoe. She looked elegant and very cooperative.

"Yes?" She answered.

"The Manager, Carolyn Wayne is calling for you."  The lady said as Joleen's heart skipped.

"Just me?" She asked.

"Yes, just you," the lady responded.

Everything joleen hoped wouldn't happen was about to happen. Did she get this opportunity just to end it after one day?
