Chapter 39

The first day of  interrogation took a long time, although it was expected of a tough and hard criminal like Tim, it wasn't his first time offacing such, he had gone in over many times and somehow got used to it. On that first day, he was left with a lady who asked him few questions on what he knew about the attack that was carried out at the garden park far away Africa. He had refused to talk asking that he spoke to a lawyer, but what he failed to understand was that the set of agents and the agency that picked him up weren't the regular Police. The lady gave him ample time and privilege to come through with talks, but he insisted. She then proceeded to using force. Tim felt she was a lady and because he had faced tough well built men, this wouldn't be a problem. He was tied on a chair with his hands at the back. The first blow did not only come as a suprise, but took him down with the chair. He couldn't believe the punch came from a lady, blood gushed out from the side of his mouth, and one of his tooth broke. The lady raised the chair with him on it and made him sit properly once again, that also surprised him as to how easy it wfor her to lift him with the chair. What he didn't know was that the said lady had gone through several trainings and she had kick boxing and taekwondo certification. She applied several force on him until he admitted knowing about the attack, but he refused to mention who ordered it. The lady was called to leave him and she left. The security man now went in, untied him leaving the cuffs, then moved him back to his cell. As the interrogation was going on, Chase and Alicia were watching from the huge tempered glass that divided the room from the main office. Chase used the opportunity to understudy Tim and to find out the best possible approach to cracking him. 

Meanwhile the news of what happened at the inn had gone viral, although names of the agents were and remained unknown, the news was that Tim and his men had a combat with other gang and he was kidnapped. Many people were happy and they couldn't hide their joy, at least the town would be quiet for sometime.  Tims men were divided into two, some went into hiding while the other were not happy and continues the search for the alleged gang so as to rescue their master.The media were paid to also play their part in the story and they did justice to that, in that they made people believe the more that it was a duet between Tim and another gang. The name of the gang was yet to be known and police was investigating and searching according to the news. As it was expected, different people began to change the narrative to sooth them, some said he went to kidnap someone and the person's men who were guarding him attacked them, others said he went to rob the Inn and the security men shit at them. In all these, the secret sqaud had advantage as no one nor story pointed their direction. It also gave them a lot of time and space without interceptions from the high and mighty, to interrogate Tim properly.

Tims direct Boss, was not left out in the news, he  had called his number severally that day without success, he had also sent a message without response, then he sent some his other boys to go get him. It was the boys who on searching for him, got the information that he was kidnapped after a shootout with another gang. They returned and gave this news to the Boss as they called him, and he wasn't happy, one being that Tim we his main hit man. He made several contacts to police and other law enforcement agencies, but the result was negative as non of them had seen nor knew his whereabout. He then told his other boys to sniff out his whereabout. He had warned Tim to avoid this gang fights and other little jobs as he was paying him well, he would have preferred it was the police or other government agencies, with a phone call, Tim would be out. His main problem was that no one could say where he was. He had seen the video clip and the news on the Deprived Children foundation launch and he was scared at the turnout and the support Olivia gathered and gained. He knew that Harts family was his competition and that they were a hard nut to crack. He had resolved to use every means to get them out of the way. The constituency that Olivia was gunning to represent was the most populated and every eye was watching. He wouldn't just sit and let her take it away. He must have to do something he thought, hence his search for Tim. He was aware of the information on her trip to Africa and the planned kidnapping, but what he wasn't sure was how she got released or escaped to pull such a crowed for the launch. Something was not adding up to him. He needed explanation from Tim as soon as possible.

Brains surgery was a successful one, the surgeon did a clean and safe job, and he was told that he would be able to walk effectively within the next two weeks. He was filled with joy as he came out of the theater. Lucy had came earlier to see him and she brought him some things stayed a little while and left. Then came Mira (his Olivia) who came in when he was coming back from the gents. She was surprised he walked without clutches, he was to take his time walking gradually until the entire bones healed. He came back and sat beside Mira. He told her he never meant nor expected the accident to happen, he was eager to see her and talk to her about his plans for both of them. At that point, Mira already knew he wasn't talking about her, eventhough he was talking to her. He continued by telling her he was ready to settle down and in a moment he dipped his hand in his box and brought out a small box, Mira immediately sensed he was about to propose to Olivia, she feigned stomach upset and ran out to the restroom outside the ward. She took her time there to think and get herself together. She could not just accept the ring she told herself, she barely knew him, he was just studying him to understand his kind of person, hi likes and dislikes, and other things, accepting the ring and the proposal would mean accepting a man she never knew. She thought of what to do, she would find the beat possible way to delay the engagement no matter what it took. She told herself to ca down, took a deep breath, assured herself she could handle it and then stepped out again. When she came back, Brains has kept back the box, he didn't understand what happened, he felt probably she wasn't feeling too well, therefore it was not proper to continue with the proposal. He would wait for a better time and opportunity. Mira having seen that the box was no where near and Brains had switched his focus on her well being, felt more comfortable. They could not talk much again as they both agreed it was only proper she left for her doctor. 

Nelly was not happy that she hadn't won Pat to her side, she was delaying her job. She felt they would have gotten married by now so as to follow up on plan B. She had just arrived and lodged in her usual hotel, she had other jobs that brought her to Africa which she had to sort out first before seeing Pat. Although she was after her for a job she was to execute, she had also enjoyed her company. She took her bath and changed into something sexy, she needed to have a round of erotic sex with Pat, she had discovered, that it was one way of getting her closer to herself and winning her heart, hence the decision to always use it as a tool. She lit her cigarette and while smoking, she called Pat and informed her she was in town, same hotel and that she was waiting for her. Pat was excited, she was bored at home and needed to unwind. The opportunity she never expected just dropped on her laps just like that. She knew she was in for a fun time. She rushed in and showered, changed into another wear, then she picked some other spare cloth Incase she wasn't coming back, also she picked her joy stick for she knew they were in for an erotic time out together and would need it for a satisfactory package.  She wrote a text message to Olivia, informed her she was hanging out with Nelly, then she left the house to the Hotel.

Alicia and Chase walked out of the office, got to where they parked the car, but before Alicia could open the car, Chase asked what she thought would be the best to do for Brenda, Alicia paused for a moment, she wasn't expecting that question, rather she expected a question that concerned the case at hand and how to get the names they needed from the hostage. She told Chase that whatever he felt was good enough, wood be fine, but that he should know that Brenda is totally in love with him. Chase couldn't believe it, he asked Alicia how she knew and what evidence she had to speak about it so surely an convincingly. Alicia made him understand that she being a woman could tell and that the signs were obvious. What she never knew was that Chase had been admiring Brenda and would have made advances on her except for the reason that it would seem that he was taking advantage of her vulnerability. This also being against their job ethics, but now that the deal is done, he thought, I would r be a bad idea to have a feel of what she got. Chase was glad that the girls was already having some feelings for him, and he saw it as things made easy for him. He then told Alicia that he was thinking getting head job would be better than business, as that would occupy her and not let her go back to her former job. They agreed and since Alicia had contacts in the town more than Chase, she accepted the responsibility of getting her a job. That having been sorted out, Alicia then asked Chase, what he thought about Tim and how to get the name(s) they needed. Chase's response took her by surprise, but she didn't say anything, she only turned the ignition of the car and drove off while Chasee searched for a music station as he smoked his cigarette. As the music played, he thought of Brenda, she was a shape to behold and pretty also, he had watched her from the corner of the door while she took her bath at the hotel they stayed initially before they moved to the Inn, she had forgot to close the door completely, though he wouldn't know whether she did that on purpose but the sight of her had aroused him that day. Now that he had known she was having feeling for him, he would not waste much time in getting her in his arm and in bed. He was thinking of a way to do it without Alicia being aware, he hoped something would keep Alicia out for long enough to allow him the time he needed to have Brenda. While he was thinking, Alicia's hone rang and she picked, Chase lowered the volume on the set, he could hear Alicia say yes sir, at every word that came from the other end. She answered the call for a few minutes before dropping the phone. She then turned to Chase and told him, she was to be at the airport to wait for the arrival of a particular flight as a senior agent was coming into town. Moreove, she was to dress formally and take a driver with an official car. So she was leaving the BMW for Chase. Chase hid his excitement as he nodded. This was exactly what he needed, it was prayer answered, he had it the way he desired it, he would be with Brenda alone in the hotel for a long time enough to feel what she got, that would have made the notorious criminal fall into a trap all because of her.

Olivia had finished reading a message and was contemplating on what to do before Pat's message came in. She didn't know if she was to call Pat and let her. She thought of the security implications and resolved not to tell her. The encrypted message had come directly from his father's office, she was adviced to activate her taekwondo techniques and be watchful as they had received an Intel that Nelly was on a mission and a follow up on her had shown that the closest person to her was to be her wife soon, meanwhile the said person happened to be her best friend. Hence the warning alert. She knew something was not added up as to the rate of desperation in Nelly and how she was pushing her friend quicker than expected into their marriage. Pat barely knew her as regards her character and lifestyle, she had showered her with gifts, contracts and promises, probably the reason Pat was bent on settling for her. The message had told her to remain calm as her security is assured, she understood what that meant, whenever such clause came throught, their father had taught them that it meant someone had been designated to look out for them, and that person though not known to them wouldn't be an amature. She looked at Mike who was innocently sleeping like a new born baby, she then sent a reply to Pat, told her she got her message and that she should take care and remember to play safe. It was more like an alert message and she prayed Pat would understand it. It was part of the benefits of coming from home such as theirs, as every message or word had a hidden meaning in them. She kept the phone and lay down thinking the best way to help Mike come through with his marriage and herself without any collateral damage to him, or her political career. She thought of what might be Nellys mission, although as she knew, she wouldn't be given details, but she was sure that the message was worth taking seriously.
