Chapter 42

The strategy adopted by the new agent seemed to have a huge effect and a positive one at that on Tim, the moment he was left alone in the interrogation room, he felt it was a break, and as he was used to the normal routine, he expected the man or another personnel to come back in and initiate force. He had made up his mind to endure the pain, at least buy another day and see if luck will smile on him. He was shocked at the time he was allowed to stay without anyone coming in and after which he was just moved back to his cell. He couldn't tell what the next plan would be, all he did was to quickly think through what to do next. The man's voice kept re-echoing in his ears, reminded him of the options and the expiration time, the news paper also flashed through his mind many times, indicating the near impossibility of anyone locating his whereabout. The pains of the first injury he got from the first beating, was still there, and the worst of it being that he was not being fed well. He was beginning to think otherwise, he felt the need to sell out and remain alive, atleast he had tried, he even felt it was time to repent and leave crime. He made up his mind that he would wait to see their next move, and if it happened to be something he wouldn't be able to bear, he would give in. He could recall what happened to one of the worst criminals he met in a cell and how he was harshly interrogated which led to his loss of potency sexually. The gory sight wasn't something he would love to experience. He was pondering over all these through the night until nature called him to sleep.Meanwhile the man that interrogated him had gone back to the office where he gave his feed back, and briefed them on his findings based on psychological effects of his method on Tim. He was very sure Tim would surrender, so he told them. He then signed out and Alicia was called in to take him to his Hotel. Alicia left immediately after  dropping him and drove back to her hotel. She wondered what might have happened between Brenda and Chase, she knew they had feelings for each other but she was sure that what  Brenda felt for Chase was love, she wouldn't know if Chase was on the same page with her, but from her little experience, she saw lust in his eyes before leaving. She wouldn't be suprise that they had sex when she left, who wouldn't she thought once again, Chase was a kind, and handsome man. She arrived the hotel that night, went straight to Chase'room, knocked on the door and Chase opened the door having peeped through the door hole and confirmed she was the one. She stepped in the room, although Brenda was well dressed, she noticed she wasnt wearing what she wore before she left. The bed was well scuttled and Chase boxer was on the floor. She discussed a little with Chase on the modalities for the next day, then she asked Brenda if she was ready to go in with her or she would be coming in later. Brenda told her she would be coming in later, she then took the keys to their room and left. While Brenda and Chase discussed, Chase discovered she was intelligent and exposed, he began to have affection for her, she wouldnt be a bad idea of a girls friend he thought,she was good looking and presentable, from the way she talked and her level of awareness in the happenings around the world; from the little discussion they had, she could fit into his class of friends. Alicia got a message on her phone, she checked and it was from one of the places Alicia had discussed job offer for her, she was invited for a chat the next day. She couldn't hide her excitement as she jumped up and hugged Chase while showing him the text. Case called Alicia's intercom and informed her, it didn't take upto a minute for Alicia to move over to his room, she took the phone read the text message and congratulated Brenda. She informed her that she should prepare early the next day as she would be starting work immediately. She was saying so because they had informed her so. Brenda thanked her also and promised them she wouldn't disappoint them. She proceeded to add that she would miss them both. Alicia jokingly asked her whom she would miss more, she smiled and gave her a sign with her eyes as it pointed to Chase. What Brenda didn't know was that Chase saw her gave the sign, but he smiled the same and promised to always check on her.

Meanwhile at the Hotel down in Africa, Mike's facial expression changed after he answered the call on from Phillip, he had dropped the call with anger and his last words Olivia noticed was that of anger and disappointment. Olivia asked him what the problem was, he hesitated a little but saw need to tell her, after all somehow, eventhough it was painful, yet it was working to his advantage. Phillip had called him to intimate him on Pat's intimate relationship with Nelly. Phillip had gone to the hotel to meet up with a friend and a staff who worked there, told him about Pat. She had known Mike was very close to Phillip and Brains, and she knew Pat was Mike's wife, initially she had thought Pat and Nelly were just friendzoning and nothing more, but to her amazement, she had stumbled on them having an erotic sex. They forgot to lock the door that day, and she knocked severally without response. She then tried the door handle, which gave in and she was shocked at what she saw. They never knew she was there even as she spent upto two minutes. She finally closed the door quietly and left. If she had gone with her phone, and probably decided to video them, they wouldn't had known too. The moment Phillip told Mike the story, Helen flashed in his mind. Does it mean Helen was a prophet, he thought, exactly what she had told him s faced was happening to him. Phillip had told him to take it easy and apply wisdom handling it. Olivia who already knew, had no option than to feign ignorance. She was now having upper hand as the entire events were pushing him closer to her without her struggling. She tried her best to calm him down saying few words that she felt made sense. Mike who was more concerned on building up with Olivia, had no option than to listen to her attentively and from all he heard from her, he could deduce that truly it called for wisdom and carefulness. He would have handled it his own way, giving it back to Pat the way he felt and ending it right away, but he considered Olivia's safety, he felt his action might trigger violence which might end up harming Olivia, as it would be suspected she was the reason for his actions. What he never knew was that his fears were not going to happen, Olivia would have been happy to see him go that way, but the only reason which was selfish, that she was interested in his handling it with caution was for her political career. Phillip had suggested they met and talk that night if he wouldn't mind, although he didn't give him any answer, he thought it wise to see him immediately, so he told Olivia to excuse him while he went to see Philip. It wasn't a long journey as he arrived the place within minutes. Phillip was already sitted alone, he had a bottle of wine on his table. He immediately welcomed himaa he sat down opposite him. Phillip was surprised at his quick arrival but never wanted to bother him with questions. He felt that what he needed was a good company to enable him get through the effect of the news without hurt. He called the waiter to bring another cup, which he did and he poured drink for Mike. Mike told him how shocked he was when he told him that, he never believed she was into such. Phillip then told him that it had been going on for sometime and that he was shocked when the lady told him. He asked Mike to wait a little as the lady was on her to where they were drinking. It didn't take long when a tall slender fair lady walked in and came towards their table, she was putting on a blue jeans trouser, with a while shirt, Phillip told her to sit, a drink was ordered for her and she joined them which she did smiling. She greeted Mike and apologized for the troubles her discovery and disclosure must have caused him. Mike told her not to mind, and asked her how long it had been happening. The lady recounted the several ordeals both ladies had in that hotel and gave him dates and periods. Mike was astonished as the said dates and periods was actually those periods that she was giving him excuses and was always going out on business. He told the young lady and Phillip that it wouldnt have been a suprise, neither would he have been moved of she was cheating on him with another man. He was saying it because he found himself in the exact shoes Helen wore when he met her. The young lady asked him if he would love to catch them red handed, Phillip was not comfortable with the idea as he felt it would be more divasitating, he dismissed the idea and told her they were not in doubt of her information. She stayed a little with them and left. Mike gave her some money and his card and she gratefully left. Phillip adviced Mike to find a good hotel and stay for the night so as not to feel too bad. What Mine never told him was that he had already been in one with Olivia. The two friends drank to their satisfaction and Phillip felt he had done a good job keeping Mike's mind out of the issue, they decided to calm it a day and both of them left for their different destinations. Olivia had waited for sometime and felt Mike was staying longer than she thought, she was scared of his safety and felt she wouldn't have allowed him out alone. She wanted calling his line but changed her mind. She was already agitated as she walked around the room thinking of what next to do. How could she have made such a mistake of allowing a man in such mood to step out alone that night, what if he committed suicide athought flew into her, he flinched, she hadn't given that a thought all the while, that was when it dawn on her that she had been selfish, thinking of herself as the lucky one and enjoying the events as they unfolded, without being considerate of him as he was unaware of the plans hence the natural effect of the happenings playing it's role in him. She was still in that mood when she had a tap on the door, she checked and it was him, she took a deep sigh of relief as she hurriedly opened the door and let him in. She could smell alcohol all over him, she doesn't need anyone to tell her he took a lot of it. His steps were vnaffected as the distance from the door to the bed which was just few steps, was difficult for him to walk. She was wondering how he must have used the lift and walked the corridors up to the door. She helped him sit on the bed, then removed his shoes, stockings, his shirt and then his trousers. While she was doing all these, he was already laying down snoring. Olovia made sure he was comfortable enough to have a good sleep that night, and as soon as she was through with him, she took her iPad and put herself to work.

Lucy couldn't sleep well even with the drinks, she was caught in a confused web of what to do, she had got favour from Mira and she was working towards employing her permanently. Whatever thing she does now without much consideration would have double negative effect on her. She would lose both friends, Mira also might lose get angry with Brains if she found out he was sleeping with her. She would have loved to be a spoiler, she told herself, but her conscience wouldn't allow her toll that line. She had thought of letting Mira know she had been sleeping with Brains, and she would hate Brains and never see him again, then Brains would concentrate on only her. It was a very beautiful plan and it wouldn't cost her anything to do so, but how knows if Brains would be interested in ignoring her lifestyle as a hooker and marry her. If he does not, it all meant she would be the greatest loser. She finally decided to avoid any involvement in their relationship but stand on the basis of business and strictly handle the findings on business platform. She had come to take whatever fate brought her way. She wasn't suppose to border much about life, atleast she was making money enough to take care of herself and her needs, and even extra to save. She had been lucky in the business as clients of class regarded her with respect. She hated the regular escorts who hang around the road and went with whatever they saw in trouser, some had got beaten, robbed, raped, and even killed. She was ready to quit as soon as Mira employed her, she wouldn't be able to sustain herself with her present job as she knew she wouldn't remain the same shape and beauty for long.  It took her a long night of thoughts to map out a strategic plan on how to go about the business. It was well thought out, she had considered the advantage of her closeness with Mira and the unhindered access to her office, an added advantage being that she had a little bit of trust on her. Although she hadn't been to her house but she has taken her to their family house, what she saw that day made her regard and respect for her heightened. She had asked her why she left such a luxury and decided to stay on her own. The answer she got marvelled her, she understood the zeal and ambition in her as a driving force. She would use these opportunities to her advantage. She would first find out from Brains exactly what he needed as she would want to avoid giving herself out by asking questions in areas that might be sensitive. She wouldn't mind buying another gift of a hamper pack for her as a present and show of love. Doing so would bring them a little more closer and it wouldn't cost her much as Brains would be footing the bills.
