Chapter 37

Brains was shocked, he couldn't believe his eyes, he was watching the program live on his phone, Mira had told him to do so, although she wasn't sure he would tune in. He was shocked mainly because of the improvement he saw in his 'Olivia' she was not the talking type, she wouldn't have presented that speech, what changed he thought. She must have improved herself so fast. The way she took time to address each group;... the mother's she had told to be more focused in looking out for children, including children that are not biologically theirs. The Father's she told to avoid bringing children whom they wouldn't be able to take care of, especially they were to avoid polygamy and living adulterous lifestyle which brings about having unplanned children. The youths were not left out, the community too. She was very elaborate in the long but interesting, informative and well written piece. The occasion attracted many notable dignitaries from all works of life and the launching proper was overwhelming. Millions were realized more than the targeted amount, excluding promisory notes. He admired her so much that the love he had for her increased. Little did he know he was in love with a name while he admired another person. 

Mira could not wait to get home before she saw Brains, she told the driver immediately after the event to drive her to the hospital. She had forgotten that she hadn't eaten, all she wanted was to see him. He stopped by and got some hamburger and fresh milks, which she shared with him when she arrived. She was more lively this time as noticed by Brains. She hugged him and even kissed him. Brains showered her with praise and commendation on her outstanding performance and the eloquently delivered speech. He told her how impressed he was, he also added that she had improved tremendously as he knew her not to be like this. Although Mira felt bad and jealous, she gathered herself together knowing she was out to win his heart. They ate the burger and the fresh milk while they chatted, Brains could not put his eyes off Mira, although something kept making him feel somethings were not adding up as regards her character and attitude towards him, but he had come to the conclusion that, ' change is constant'. 

The KLM airplane touched down at the Africa International airport, the passengers took their time to climb down the stairs one after the other. The announcement on arrival of the flight from Paris had hit the airwave through the speaker and Olivia heard it from where she was sitting with Bruno. She was so happy, at last she was going to be with Mike alone. The long awaited discussion was to be heard. Mike came down, walked through the corridor to the iuggage section where he waited and finally picked his box and bag. He was greeted with smile and an open hands of Olivia as he walked through the arrival gate. Bruno took his luggage and walked infront while they followed behind towards the car. He dropped the luggages in the trunk of the car and opened the rear door where they got in and sat comfortably, Mike holding him tightly close to himself. Bruno drove down to the hotel, they alighted and he helped them carry their luggage to the lobby, where a staff picked them from him. Olivia notice he was looking at him somehow, she suspected it must have to do with her security, a told him that there was no problem as she was o safe hand and that she would call him if need be. Bruno left, while Mike and Olivia stepped in the lift with the staff and their luggage for upward movement to there room. 

Meanwhile, somewhere in France, Tim Moore and his gang, had got information that Brenda was at Travellers inn, he made his plans to go get her. He called his two hitmen and told them his plan, although they they were not comfortable with that, but they dare not speak out as that would mean insubordination and could be punishable by a bullet. They knew him to be that brutal. They had watched him shoot one of them on a slightest provocation. They had no option than accept his plans and got ready to execute it. They took one of their cars, a Nissan Murano, and drove out heading to Travellers inn. They were to get to the Hotel, quietly get to the door of the room, break  with force and shoot at any resistance and take the girl with them. It was a well thought out plan which was not to take their time and Tim had warned them not to allow anything happen to the girl.

What Tim never knew was that he was being watched, everymove he made was being followed. His house was wired with some suffisticated gimmicks and he didn't know. The moment he drove out, Alicia and her team knew he was on his way to them. Chase had told her not to stay with Brenda in the same room, rather she should be in their room wearing Brenda's cloth while Brenda stays in another room. The other men had taken their positions, one was to make sure the moment they alight from the car, two of the tires would be deflected, and a pack of Cocaine dropped somewhere in the car. It was well planned that something weighty should be hung on him, so as not to allow him get free his time. The other guys took their positions on the hill behind the fence with their sniper rifles Incase of shootouts. The order was that he was not to be killed, any other member of his gang could be shot at or killed but he was needed alive.

Tim drove into the inn, located a space ans packed, as usual his confidence was that as the king of the town, he could have his way. He and his men walked into the lobby and asked the receptionist the room number where Brenda was, they did not waste time to give him as Chase had told them not to refuse. As soon as Tim and his gang left the lobby, the instruction was for them to leave also to the secured room, where they would stay to avoid stray bullet. Tim walked up to the room, he stood for a while and drew one long breath from his cigarette before dropping it and matched it with his booth. He brought out his pistol, his guys followed, he gave a hard kick on the door and it threw open. To his surprise, their lay a lady which to him was Brenda, she lay quietly covering her face with blanket, pretended to shiver in fear. Tim asked the two guys to wait outside for him. At this point, he was beginning to get influenced by the hard drug he had taken before they left. All he had in mind was to rape the girl. Immediately the two guys left the room, Alicia could hear his voice as he commanded her to throw out the blanket, stand up and pull off her clothes. He never knew his men where already dead. As Alicia was begging him as a means to buy time, he got angry and mistakenly dropped his gun on the table, he did not notice that someone had come into behind him. He made move to get to Alicia, she pulled out her gun and ordered him to stop right there. Tim wanted to make a fast move getting his gun, he heard the sound of another voice behind him, 

Put your hands behind your head where I can see it, Chase said in a professional cop voice.

You heard him said Alicia who was now standing up with her gun pointed on his forehead. 

Two other agents appeared on the scene with a handcuff which they held his hands with and a call was made for ambulance service to come pick the two dead gang members, while Chase, Alicia, Brenda and other agents drove on convoy back to the secret squad office. They arrived the building where some heavily armed security men were hanging around, they had been on standby, having known the kind of person Tim was, they had expected him and his team of hangmen to put up a resistance, hence the need for readily backup. Chase and Alicia brought Tim out of the car and handed him over to the other agents who took him inside the building, for his onward journey to the underground interrogation room. Alicia turned to Mike and pointed towards Brenda who was sitted in the car. Mike walked to Brenda and asked her to wait for a few minutes. He walked in to make sure everything was in place and to give instruction on the interrogation procedure. He then came out and Alicia drove them to a beach. Chase gave Brenda two options, she was to choose one, either to leave town for a place of her choice and start a new life or stay back on town but quit hooker job and start a new life too. While he threw that options, he never knew what was going n in Brendas mind, as the young lady was already in love with him , that he was soon to find out. He was shocked when she chose the latter option of staying in town as stating a new life. Although he did not ask her the reason for her decision, he was ready to fulfill his promise to her. Alicia who was watching and listening to the conversation, saw the way Brenda was looking at and admiring Chase, she knew something was going on in her mind, especially as a woman, she could tell when a lady was in love or ateast lusting after a man. She wouldn't blame her, who wouldn't fall for chase, he had all that it takes to be a man,he was well built, had charisma, have a good job, and from his look, he would also be good in bed. Brenda's answer or choice was not a suprise to Alicia. 

Lucy took her time to rest, it had been days of drinks and sex. Although it was exhausting, yet she wished she would be having such clients, Mike was extravagant with money and she could tell she had made money. She slept and got refreshed, then she decided it was time to go see Brains. She had called him earlier and told him she was back in town. She dressed up and left the house for the hospital. It didn't take much time to get a taxi. She asked the driver to stop by the Mall on the way where she bought some fruit drinks for Brains. In few minutes, they arrived the Hospital and she alighted have paid the driver, she took her bag and Brain's belongings which Mike had given him and walked into the hospital. She was very pleased and happy seeing Brains, he was looking healthier and charming as before, and his face was all smiles. Brains was also excited seeing her and he welcomed her with a hug. She handed over what she bought, and the clothes which she explained she got from the hotel staff, avoiding the already known question that would have followed. Brains thanked her and enquired of her on her trip, she told him it was a success. They did a lot of catching up with their gists. The nurse came in and told Brains that all was set for his surgery that evening and that the surgeon that was to handle it was around. His happiness increased as he was getting frustrated using the clutches. Lucy was happy for him too and promised to stay until time for the surgery. Brains phone rang and Lucy handed it over to him, it was Mike. He called to let Brains know he had arrived. Brains was so happy and thankful for the visit, he told Mike, that the surgery would take place that evening and soon he would be back to Africa. 

Mike and Olivia got into the room, holding each other and looking each other in the eyes. Mike kissed her and she reciprocated, they sat down and talked a little , basically on the trip and the friend, then Mike went in and took his shower. He came out feeling refreshed. By then, Olivia had changed into her normal bum short and half top, she lay down working on her phone.Mike was putting on a singlet and a boxer. He opened his box and brought out the thiings he bought for her, and she was overwhelmed with joy. A female Rolex watch, three beautiful gowns, two red and blue color shoes that matched two of the gowns, a set of perfumes, and to crown it all, he bought her a set of panties. Olivia could not hold the tears of joy in her eyes, she had never got so much of a gift from a friend, it touched her heart. She stood up and hugged Mike, who smiled and have her a peck on her cheek. Olivia noticed that Mike was having lag, she helped him pull his leg on the bed and made sure he rested his head on the pillow and blew him a kiss, it didn't take time for Mike to sleep off. Olivia now left alone, concentrated on her chat with the sister. Mira was giving her feedback on the event, eventhough she had seen it on Instagram and YouTube, she was pleased with her performance, especially the way she presented the speech. Mira also appreciated her sister for the opportunity to stand in for her, and promised to do whatever it took to making sure her aspirations and dreams come through. The chat was cut off by calls upon calls that started coming in, congratulating her on the success of the event, messages were not left out also. Her Mom called also after she had called Mira and congratulated them both. She had wanted to tell the mom about Mike but something told her to wait a little more, she held it back. Her mother had been disturbed on their spinsterhood status, she would love to see them married. Such news would have made her happy, but she would have to wait a little longer. Her Dad called after some few minutes and showered her and her sister with commendation and love. He adviced them to keep the good and team work on, he was happy with them. He then asked them when they would show him the men in their life. The two ladies who were having a conference call with their dad, pissed for a while, their Dad noticed the silence and told them to think about it while he went off the phone.
