Chapter 64

While Olivia was in the house with Pat, Lucy and Mike were in the lift heading up to room 101. Mike saw that he was caught up in a web which he wouldn't know how to escape, his only option was to play along descreetly. Hence his decision to follow Lucy to the room for a quick one. When they got to their floor, there wasn't anyone along the corridor, so it was easy for them to get into her room. Immediately they got into the room, Lucy who couldn't wait, bounced on Mike, tearing him like a hungry tiger. Although their sex experience this time around, was good, they were such in a haste that it didn't last long. It was devoid of the usual process of touching, kissing and frolicking. Those protocols were jumped and the main meal consumed. Lucy felt satsfied having got what she wanted, she would have asked for more, but somehow, something in her made her allow Mike leave for his room. Mike was quick to dress up and rushed back to his room where he took a quick shower and lay down on the bed waiting for Olivia's return. While he waited, he thought of what has befalling him. He had got himself in a fix between two women. 

Olivia did not waste much time at home, before returning back to the hotel. At her arrival, she was welcomed by Mike with a hug and a peck, she didn't see anything suspicious even as she carefully searched for one. She told Mike what transpired between her and Pat, as regards her findings. It was the first time she was opening up to Mike on issues sorrounding Pat and Nelly. She was careful enough not to open an old and healing wound. Her interest was to let Mike know that Nelly was not to be trusted and that Pat needed to stay away from her. Mike was not bothered initially, but with much conversation on the issue, and Olivia mounting pressure on him, he agreed to add his input so as to convince Pat. The discussion shifted from the family to Abigail and Bill, Olivia wanted to know how the couple were fairing, whether there was news on the much awaited new company profile. Like the saying goes, 'talk of the devil and he would appear', her phone rang and behold it was Abigail on the line. 

Bill and Abigail were in their room chatting, with Bill apologizing to the wife for his ignorance on the need to add her name as a director in his company, and discussing on how kind and good Olivia was to them, when Bills phone rang. He picked up and it was his lawyer. He asked him to check his mail as the new profile was ready. He had sent the detailed copies including the paperbacks. All that Bill needed was to print them out and spiral bind. Bill and Abigail could not hold their excitement, they opened it on their phone and checked it on the mobile format Bill checked for possible errors, and when he confirmed that it was well done, he and his wife felt it was better to inform Olivia immediately. There fear had been that Olivia mentioned her plan to leave for US in few days, hence the call.

Olivia picked the call and she could identify and understand the excitement that was in Abigail's voice wile she passed the message to her. She told her not to worry, that there was a cyber cafe in the hotel. They were to make use of it in the morning to print, bind a copy and hand over to her. She had already sent a message to Mary to stop all proceedings regarding the said contract, pending her findings. Now that she had her findings, she planned to reach out to her the next day to make sure the preferred company was reached and possibly told that they wouldn't be getting the contract. She had written a letter that would be sent to them on that, and in the letter, some few documents that she had confirmed fake, was attached. So she was able to assure Abigail that the contract would be handed to her husband. After the call, she turned back to Mike who had been quiet, she noticed his mood and tried probing to know what was wrong. Mike made effort to hide his countenance, it was still there. Olivia became uncomfortable, she felt she was the cause, and regretted bringing up Pat and Nellys issues. She thought of what to do to brighten him up, nothing worthwhile came into her mind. Then she remembered that the contract that her company signed with his firm, had been kept on view for sometime now, so she took her iPad and opened up a chat with Mary, who fortunately was online. They chatted for a while before she dropped the pad and lay her head on Mike's chest. It wasn't long that Mike received a message on his phone. He excused himself from Olivia who say up to enable him take his phone. He swiped the phone to come alive, then he saw that the message was an email, and am official one too. He quickly took his palm top and logged in, scrolled down to the particular mail and opened it. When he saw the email address of the sender, he couldn't help but turn to Olivia who carefully avoided their eye contact. He turned Bk and concentrated on the mail. He read through the mail, and his mood changed. He was personally copied in the mail as having been reinstated as the firm representative and adviced to plan himself for a trip to the US to represent the firm at the inspection of the goods to be supplied. He could not hold his joy, he called Olivias attention to it, she pretended not to be in the knowing of what happened, as she took time to go through the mail, after which she jumped on him and kissed him passionately. To Mike, she was happy for his reassigned position, but her happiness was based on his chge of mood. It was really obvious that she was in love with Mike, and all she wanted now was to seal the relationship with marriage. She started nursing this since she received a message from her Dad, to begin preparation of her return to Paris for her political office declaration and the take off of her campaign. There was no better time to sort out this relationship thing once and for all than now. As soon as it was solidified, both of them would head to Paris.  

When the Director ended his pep talk with Alicia and Chase, they knew there was a whole lot to do. The assignment sounded simple, but the implementation would be a heavy task. Alicia was to serve as an undercover marketer in the bank where Crusoe had account, she would be his account officer thereby making it easy to access and investigate his financial dealings. Chase on his part would work as a police officer and would be assigned to him officially as his chief security officer. All these were well thought out by a team of experts assembled by Hart. They were to proceed immediately and have limited time to gather as much information as was needed. The much needed speed was based on the political time table that was already released and everyone was expecting open and formal declarations by intending aspirants. Although the election for presidency, was still far, Hart needed to make sure Olivia won in her constituency. All that was needed for her campaign was readily available, including security that would be around her when she returns. Chase and Alicia left the office together, but not in the same car. While Alicia left in the Genesis, Chase was handed over a brand new Hyundai Santa Fe. Also while Alicia drove to the bank head office, Chase took the other route to the force headquarters. When Alicia arrived the bank, she was given a seat by the secretary to the executive director, where he waited for sometime, while the lady attends to some others. Alicia was losing her patience, as she noticed that the lady secretary was choosy when it comes to the people she called in to see the director. Just as she wanted standing up to walk into the office, the buzzer on the table rang. The secretary answered and Alicia could hear the voice from the other end, as it asked that the secret send her in. She stood up immediately and walked in not waiting for the secretary nor wanting her help. As soon as she walked in, the director mentioned her name and motioned her to a seat. Alicia sat down very comfortably, while the Executive director spoke to her on what was expected of her. He promised to make available any assistance that would make her job easier. she was to replace the present account officer in charge of Senator Crusoe's account. After the chat, she was handed over her identity card, and a paper with deatiled information she needed to know about he job. She proceeded to meet with the said account officer for a thorough hand over. While Alicia was being briefed in the office, Chase landed the police headquarters, where he was directed to the office of the Assistant Inspector General of police. He was fortunate enough that there wasn't much queue, so it was easier for him to see him, the AIG assured him of his and his team members support. He adviced that he thread with caution and call back up before moving into a crime scene. The meeting was a short one and Chase was handed over his uniform, a pistol, shoe and other neccesary things for his work. His letter of deployment was handed over to him. He was to proceed to the Senate building, and Crusoe's office on particular.

Meanwhile, while Brains waited in the Hotel room, he never knew that his visit to the hospital and his inquiries had triggered a security alert on him. The nurse had reported him to the director regarding his probe into the Harts family, and this was passed down to the chief security officer of the hospital, who on getting the alert, forwarded same to Olivia. When Olivia got to know that the said culprit was Brains, she was dumbfounded. She felt that her suspision about him was true after all. She called her sister and told her about it, fortunately for her, the sister responded that their dad was in the knowing and had briefed her. This made her not to return to the hotel. Brains who had woke up late, came outside and noticed that the numerous security details that had hitherto been around the hotel had all dispersed. Reason he could not tell, several attempts to reach Mira, proved negative. He became worried, as he thought whether something bad had happened to her. He walked out to the reception lobby to see if he could find someone to ask or see any sign of people discussing about anything, but there was only the usual calmness around the premises. To worsen the matter, his phone beeped and he checked, it was a message, the number was uknown, and the message was directed to him. He was told not to bother looking for Mira, as she was no more interested in the relationship. He was to leave Paris as soon as possible as his presence was regarded as a security threat to both Mira and her family. That was when he realized he had ventured into the wrong ground. He regretted ever making that move of finding out about Mira. He recalled he the nurse Rachel behaved while in the eatery, now he understood better. He felt his life was in danger, so he called Mike's line. 

When Mike's phone rang, he was having a serious conversation regarding Olivia and himself, Olivia had wanted knowing his plan for both of them, and he was stating the obvious, which was his readiness to tie the knot with her. Although Olivia had seen his seriousness and readiness, she pushed further to know what his plans were towards Pat. Mike looked at his phone, when he saw the number, it was not a call to be ignored, Brains and himself had come a long way, so he excused himself from Olivia, though still in the room and at the same position, he picked the call. He had to put it. speaker so that show Olivia he had nothing to hide. Brains voice hit the air as he to Mike what was happening. While he spoke, Olivia knew from his voice that it was him and that he was panicking. Mike on the other hand couldn't find words to express himself. He sensed that Brains return meant alot of things, he would be a spanner in the wheels f his relationship with Olivia, since he was a security threat to her family. He thought for a while and carefully reaonsed by telling him to find a way and return to Africa. He said it to be neutral but he had planned not to see him she when he returned. He dropped the call, turned and looked at Olivia, she smiled and told him she knew it was Brains. She then told him he she met Brains and their intention to settle down, she continued by telling him what brought her to Africa and how Brains went to Paris in search of her. She mentioned that to her amazement, Brains saw her sister and fell in love with her, without making enquires to know who she was. While she told her story, Mike could see sadness and disappointment in both her face and her tone. She ended the story with a consolation line, which was that fate probably allowed it that way for her to meet him (Mike). Although mike was happy, but on the other hand, he was trying to imagine what would happen when Brains comes back to find out that the same lady he went to Paris to seek, the same lady he had supported him to sleep with, even handing over his house key for it, was now his bossom friends lady and possibly wife in the making. While he was thinking Olivia was also deep in thought, but hers was on a startegy to handle whatever was coming. She knew that Brains return was going to bring some level o chaos and she needed to get herself ready for any eventuality. She was the one who called their Dad, and intimated him on Brian's visit to t hospital and what transpired, she also sent the message that triggered Brains call to Mike. Silence gripped the room for a while, before Mike broke it by refocusing their attention back to the contract and the trip to the US.
