Chapter 75

When it comes to business, Olivia was a different person, she loves keeping to time, and would always prepare very well in case of any eventuality. She hate being embarrassed especially when it had to do with something she knew how to handle very well. Severally she had been to offices and events where it seemed she was a target for ridicule, even though it wasn't so, but the entire thing was on her shoulder, but for her preparedness, it would have been a mess. This was part of the reasons why she took time to review the contract papers, making sure all the 'I's are dotted, and the 'T's crossed. She had gone through the paper work twice since they came to the US. That morning, she woke up very early and got the things she would be needing ready, then she took her bath, dressed up and was ready to move. She called the kitchen for a cup of tea, when Mary declared interest, she told them to make it two. Then she called Lucy to make sure she was ready too. Lucy seemed to have understudied Olivia, she had also got ready. When she finished dressing up, it dawn on her that Brains being in a separate room had its advantage, and she had just enjoyed one of it. Had it been she was with Brains or even James at that, she wouldn't have been ready so fast. She checked her self and the content of her bag, to make sure she wasn't forgetting anything. Sam has pre informed her that Olivia hate unserious, and lazy people around her. So the advice was for her to guard herself very well to avoid any issue arising from her end. When she had confirmed that all she needed was on the bag, she hurriedly drank her coffee which she earlier ordered. It was long before she got a call from Olivia that she was set and ready to leave. They decided to meet at the ground floor lobby. Coincidentally, they met at the door of the lift, which was a good sign for Olivia, she could see that Lucy was serious and smart. Those were some of the qualities she loved seeing in people around her. They got to the lobby, and the driver, on seeing them signalled them towards the car which he brought very close to the entrance of the hotel. Olivia handed over the address of the firm to him, he confirmed knowing his way to the address. This made things easier for Olivia as she relaxed at the rear seat, although she was sitting side by side with Lucy, there was no conversation between them from the beginning of the journey till they got there. Lucy in her mind was not surprised, she had already been briefed on many of her attitude, though she only wondered the kind of person she was. 

When they got to the gate of the company, Lucy could see the big sign post that read, LOGISTICS. She also noticed that everywhere was filled with heavily armed security men and women. They were asked to step down from the car and walk to the security post for proper identification and check, the driver was searched and allowed in, he was asked to park at the waiting space immediately after the gate so when the two ladies were checked, they would get in again. Olivia and Lucy were asked to fill a small paper form handed to them. They were asked the office they were visiting. When she mentioned the office, the man looked at her name once again and apologized for wasting her time, though he also added that he was doing his job. Olivia was not in a haste, she understood the procedure, it was not her first time going through such routine security checks. She knew her surname most times paved way for her, but she learnt from her Dad never to abuse that privilege. So they were patient enough to wait for clearance before they were handed over the visitors electronic cards, one each for she and Lucy. Being Lucy's first visit, she was conscious and observant, learning the way things were being done. When they passed the gate, which was opened by the guard sitting there, they walked to the car, entered and the driver moved. After some minutes, they arrived the second gate, this time, they were asked for the electronic card only, the man who demanded for it, took them and swiped them on the device he was holding. When he did, the gate opened on its own. He handed the card back to them and asked that they proceed. At that point, the driver followed the signs that were displayed with arrows pointing to various departments and blocks that one was going. They finally got to the office of the director procurement, and parked at the car lot. Immediately they parked and we're getting down from the car, Mr Livingston came out from his office to welcome them. They had a hand shake with him after which he directed the into his office. He did not waste time to do a formal introduction of himself but before he continued with what he had to say, Olivia interruption him with her own introduction, Lucy followed. Livingston then continued, he demanded for the letter of introduction, the approved contract from their country government, and the paperwork generated from the correspondence that Lucy's firm had with LOGISTICS. Olivia handed over all to him, he sat down dropped it on his table and pressed the buzzer on his table. Is door opened and a young lady got in. She greeted Olivia and Lucy, then walked up to her Director, who told her to get something for the guest. She left and came back with a tray, on it was coffee, tea, and milk. There was also cookies, she prepared them according to what each of them wanted, then she handed one over to her Director and placed the other two on a table before the guest before leaving the office. While these were going on, the Director was busy going through the entire papers handed over to him, he made several calls to another office, asking few questions and scribbling down somethings. It took him more than thirty minutes before he turned his attention toward the ladies. 

While he was going through the paper, Olivia was on phone with Mira, she was giving her information on the happenings politically, being that it was time for her to return and take charge, she needed to be abreast with the people. Mira also used the opportunity to let her know Pat was coming over to see her. At first she felt nervous, but she held herself together, whatever be it, she won't let her take back Mike from her. She had her chance, but she blew it was all she concluded in her mind. It was the sound the director made when he turned to them, the sound was that of a person clearing his throat, that was what brought her attention back to the office. The Director told them he had gone through the papers, and everything was okay, he had also confirmed the list with the provision made, that he told them he did via phone call to the appropriate office. The only delay was that the US governmental was moving some heavy armory that was built for them that day, so there wouldn't be space for the ladies to inspect tat very day. He added that the paperwork that they would need to tick while inspecting and sign when they had confirmed everything, was being done. This would make the work easy when next they returned. He told them they would've contacted once the evacuation is over. Then he handed over the signed acknowledged copies of the papers submitted. Olivia thanked him for his effort and attention, before they left. They followed the same process in a reversed order as they drove out. Once outside the main gate, the driver acceleration increased as they headed back to the Hotel. While in the car, Lucy was able to convince Olivia for them all to have dinner together. After a little hesitation, Olivia gave in to the plan. She had thought it through and saw that there wasn't much happening around there, instead of being in the room lonely or occupied with business and job,it would do her good to unwind. It occured to her that she hadn't seen Mike that day, and felt it proper to do so since she would be having fun in the evening. She wouldn't want anything to bother her when she would be enjoying herself. With that, she called on the driver to pack at a mall. She then asked Lucy to join her. Inside the mall, she told her, that they would be heading to the hospital to see Mike. Lucy wondered why she wanted the visit suddenly since she could still go when they had reached the hotel. She was thinking so because she was supposed to take Brains to the hospital. As if Olivia read her mind, she explained to her the reason for the sudden decision, Lucy had no option, after all she was the one that suggested for a dinner get together. So they bought somethings for Mike, cane out and told the driver to change his navigation to the hospital. 

Brains had waited for Lucy for long, he tried her room intercom number, but she wasn't picking. With that, he knew she wasn't back. He left his room, walked to the lift and went down to the car park. There he asked the drivers who would take him t the hospital. He was told that there were only two drivers who plight that route, one wasn't at work, while the order took some guests who normally visit that hospital out since morning. Brains got disappointment, he wanted to go there all by himself so he could see Mike. He wanted giving him a surprise. When his plan failed, he went back to his room and lay down resting, and waiting for Lucy to return. He decided he would book the driver ahead that night as he must make sure he saw Mike the next day. While he lay on the bed, planning,he got a message from Lucy. He read the message, instead of replying the message, he called her number. Lucy and Olivia had just got down from the car in the hospital when Brains call came in,he picked and Brains sounded sad, he was complaining bitterly and blamed Lucy for the delay in seeing Mike, which he felt wasn't fair. Assuming he hadn't arrived the US, he wouldn't have bothered he thought, it would only be satisfactory when he had seen his friend. Lucy apologize but reminded him that she was in the US for business, and that he should know that the scenerio while he was in the hospital in Paris and what they have right there in the US, weren't the same. When they dropped the call, she hurried up so she would meet up with Olivia, as she was carrying what they bought and wouldn't want Olivia to talk to her in a manner that would make her feel inferior. When they got to the room where Mike was staying, he was laying down on his bed, watching a comic movie, his face was filled with smile at the sight of Olivia. He took the book he had on the table and scribbled some thing which he handed over to her. Olivia opened the book and read the content, without letting Lucy nor nurse to we it. It was a poem he composed earlier, what he did was to scribble the caption. Olivia wrote her response, in which she expressed her appreciation for the beautiful work. She then with Lucy's help, brought out what they bought on their way and arranged them on the side table close to Mike. 

Meanwhile in Paris, Chase and Brenda were still on bed when Alicia left the house for her usual morning training. She only shouted to them that she was on her way out, Chase responded and she left. He and Brenda were laying down on his bed, the blanket the used in the night was still covering them, Brenda's head was in his chest as her eyes was closed and she felt so relaxed and comfortable. Chase' eyes were open, he was just admiring the young girl. Brenda had a full of him the last night, she won't be able to explain the kind of fire that there bodies ignite when the come in close contact with each other. All she could remember was that they had a nice dinner and drank while playing some games, then she felt a little sleepy, rested her head on chase' body, the next place she saw herself was on the bed, naked and begging for more as Chase was making love to her.
