Chapter 70

When lucy took a look at the patient, it wasn't Olivia. She had the team of doctors to face, they had called the security to take her, just as the security arrived, James walked in. She saw the scene and knew something was wrong, so he approached the senior doctor in their midst whom he was able to explain everything to. That was when they relaxed, they had presumed Lucy mad and was to take her to the psychiatrist side of the hospital. It was then they got the information in the whereabout of Olivia and Mike. The senior doctor who James met, had asked James who exactly she was looking for, James beckoned on Lucy who gave a detailed description as names was not working. As soon as the Doctor gave them information on where to check, they thanked him and rushed out, heading to the ward. When they got there, they saw Olivia sleeping, there was a nurse by her, who on seeing them signalled them to a seat and asked that they do not make noise. Lucy asked that she excused her to get close and see her. She permitted her and when she drew close, she couldn't see any mark on her face nor was there any sign of injury. She asked the nurse what actually was wrong with Olivia as regards the effect of the accident, this she wanted to know as quick as she could, so that she would pick Miras call and give them feedback on what was on ground. The nurse took time to explain to them that there was no injury found on her, but she was in shock hence their keeping her in an isolated ward. 

Where is her husband? Lucy asked.

The nurse was surprised at the question, she had seen their names and there wasn't any information that indicated they were husband and wife, but she responded that Mike was in the intensive care unit, she added that his case was much critical as the pressure of the accident was more on the side he was sitting. The same was with the driver, as Mike was seated behind the driver. She told Lucy that the shock Olivia experienced was because of Mike's condition. Lucy wondered why things like this would happen again, she was caught up in similar web of accident victim which coincidentally involved a friend of this same Mike, which made Mike visit Paris, now Mike, and here she was in the same position as of Brains. She prayed that such should not repeat itself again. She wondered if Brains was aware that his friend had been befallen by same predicament as him. She called Brains line twice but no response, so she dropped him a message and asked that he returned the call once he got the message. It took a little long before she got a call from Brains. He told her he got her message and asked her to explain what she meant by Mike in Coma, shé told him everything that happened,. Brains couldn't say anything, the line remained silent for sometime before he finally said he would call back. When he dropped the call, his eyes were filled with tears, he could understand what his friend must be going through, he had been there and it wasn't a funny experience. He thought it wise to plan a visit to the US to see him.

When the accident occurred, and the rescue team came in the helicopter, they took the three victims out, but Olivia was picked in a different chopper, while they were on board, Olivia regained consciousness. It was when they arrived the hospital, she was brought down on laid on a stretcher, she saw them lift Mike on another beside her, she called his name but he didn't respond, they were rolled to the emergency unit immediately they got into the building, she was pushed to the private ward where she was right now, but Mike was taking to the ICU. She was anxious to know the whereabout of Mike and what happened to him, the next thing she saw was a stretcher pushed out from where Mike was pushed in, this time the body and the face were covered. Sensing that it was Mike, she asked the nurse of the person that was pulled out was dead, the nurse innocently without idea why she asked, told her that it was the reason for covering the face. Olivia fainted immediately. The nurse has to call the doctor who came in and checked her, that was when they realized she had experienced a shock, and ever since then she hadn't been awake. 

Pat cried when she saw the news, she thought her best friend and the husband was dead, she woke up from sleep when the news came on the news. What caught her attention was the numerous cars that were involved in the accident, so she decided to watch and get details. That was when she heard and saw the names of the victims. Initially she had felt there was a mix up in the news, until they mentioned the Hart family. She tried reaching Olivia and Mike's number, both lines rang but no one picked. She thought of calling Mira, but she wasn't sure if she had heard the news. She wouldn't want to be the one to break the news to her, so she decided to wait while trying and making effort to reach her friends or husband's line. 

Mira's mind got relaxed having known that her sister was okay, she could reach her dad and mom and inform them of the accident. She and Mary were of the same opinion of not letting them know while they were waiting to know what state of health she was. She called her dad and informed him, there dad couldn't believe it, he knew from the news that there was a terrible accident that happened in a particular State in the US, but he never bordered to know the details. As at the time the news came, all he did was to ask of the casualties, and when he got to know there were no deaths, he left for other business. It was an evening news, and all they did was to give the headlines. There was no way he would have seen or heard the name of the casualties. He asked Mira the hospital and how Olivia was fairing, Mira gave him all she got from Lucy and mentioned that a certain Lady name Lucy was at the hospital. Hart dropped the call and immediately called his few contacts in the US who he passed the information and sought for their help to make sure his daughter was well taking care of. He didn't want to risk sending out Mira, rather he called Lucy whom Mira had sent her number to him. Then he called Mary, and asked her to prepare and make a trip to the US. He particularly instructed her that if she got there and the hospital she was seemed low standard, she should make sure that she was moved to where she would get the best treatment and care. Mr Hart loved his children so much, but her interest goes out more on Olivia, he has been able to with wisdom handled it that no one would be able to notice it. Olivia's positions in his business not withstanding, Mira had never complained nor felt bad about it. Their dad made sure both of them lacked nothing. Mira was comfortable with the things she was included in, she was much interested in her entertainment and fashion business. Olivia was the one that took after her father and that created a solid bond between them. Even as he had made contact, he also continued calling every hour to know if Olivia was awake so he could hear her voice.

At this time, Lucy was picking and responding t calls that came in on Olivia's phone, she didn't want to answer Mike's, she felt it would disrespectful, to do so. When Pat tried Mike's number it wasn't picked she tried Olivia's again. This time Lucy picked, she felt Olivia was the one on the phone, so she spoke started by asking her how she felt. Lucy noticed and immediately introduce herself. She then told her she was still in shock, asleep and wouldn't be talking to anybody for now. 

What about my husband? Pat asked.

Lucy didn't understand the question.

Your husband? He asked

Yes Mike, Pat said.

Lucy became confused, but being a smart lady, having noticed there was something though she wouldn't say what it was, she replied her that Mike was in the intensive care and that she hadn't seen him. When the call ended, she thought through the conversation, there were many questions that went through her mind, she wouldn't know if Mike married two wives or probably the two women were fighting for him. But on a second thought, she remembered that she inquired of Olivia first and me sounded as if she was pretending. The next call that came was from Mary, she had just landed at the airport and was on her way to the hospital. Lucy was a little bit relieved, at least she would bother less. She has begged James to go back to the hotel and rest, but the young man refused, insisting that he would be there with her until she was ready to go back too. They were waiting for Mary's arrival when suddenly Olivia sneezed. The nurse rose up and stopped Lucy who had wanted to rush towards her. Then she called the attention of the doctor. By this time, Olivia was having tears in her eyes, she was crying and calling Mike's name, the doctor and the nurse tied to calm her down but she kept on crying. It wasn't long before Mary got in. Mary's arrival seemed to quieten her a bit, then upon inquiry, she told Mary and Lucy that all she wanted was to see Mike's body before he would be buried. All she had in mind and had conclude was that Mike had died.

Just as they were still talking, the doctor was called to come over to the ICU, he took excuse from Olivia and friends and headed that way. He spent some minutes before coming back. He was happy and full of smiles when he came back, and he asked Olivia who she was with when the accident happened, Olivia told him he was dead and that his name was Mike. The doctor told her Mike was not dead, rather he had just recovered from Coma. Olivia felt the doctor wanted her to feel good and stop crying, she told the doctor that she saw when Mike's body was pulled out with a stretcher. They would have argued for long, but for the the sound of the door that flung open and a stretcher was being pulled into the ward. When Olivia looked, there was on the stretcher Mike laying down innocently and quiet. Her countenance changed immediately, she became full of smiles. Mike was placed on a bed a little bit far from her, he hadn't been able to talk since he woke up. The doctors were trying to figure out what must have been the cause. They decided to bring him to the same ward with Olivia to see if he would say something or react when he saw Olivia, but nothing happened. Lucy was first to get close to him, she called his name many times, but Mike did not respond. He was just looking at her as if they hadn't met before. Lucy felt it might be because of Olivia, so she went back to where she was. Although Olivia wasn't too strong yet, she was helped up so she could see Mike. She got to his bed side, one look at Mike, she saw that there was something awkward about his looks. Mike was just staring at her, he did not respond to her when she called his name.

 What might be wrong?  she asked the Doctor.

The doctor told her they weré on the case, he added that the reason for bringing him was to see his reaction toward her, but from what had happened, there was need for consultations and possibly tests to ascertain the level of internal injury that had occured especially the brain. Olivia couldn't hold her tears again, Mike couldn't recognize her, neither could he recognize Lucy. She felt nature has dealt her a big blow. She has heard about people becoming vegetables, but she hasn't seen one before. She thought of what might be wrong, it was obvious that Mike could not see nor hear her. If that be he case, it wouldn't be wrong to conclude that Mike had gone blind and deaf. While she was thinking of what next to do, her phone rang, Lucy handed it over to her, she picked the call and the voice she was not difficult to recognize, it was his Dad, Me Hart. The chat between father and daughter was long and helped in reducing the tension in the room. She was able to speak to her sister and her Mom, her mom was filled with joy on hearing her voice and knowing she was alive and okay. Olivia didn't waste time to get back to her thoughts of what the solution to Mike's would be. She thought of who and where to get help, the money was not a problem, but a specialist who would do a food job of returning him back to whom he used to be. She called the doctor close and told him to do whatever It would take to being back Mike to normalcy, she added that whatever it would cost, she would pay. When Lucy heard it, she smiled remembering that someone else was also interested in Mike, but she wouldn't know the person's capacity to fight with Olivia. Another thing she observed was that Olivia had a great love for Mike. Olivia's phone rang again, this time it was the military hardware manufacturing company. Lucy handed over the phone to Olivia. When she picked, the voice on the other end asked if he was speaking with Olivia Hart, she answered, then the voice proceeded to telling her they were aware of the accident that occured, and they had deemed it sensible to extend their timing for the check considering their time of recovery. They also wished them a speedy recovery. Olivia thanked the voice and ended the call. She then passed the information to Lucy. Although Lucy had been bothered about it, but she felt life was more important than the business. Moreover without Olivia, there want anything she would do regarding the deal. He remembered Sam and felt the need to let him know, so she sent him a message.
