Chapter 121

Kelly's story seemed to work wonders on Olivia as she forgot everything about the upcoming election, and focused on the story. Kelly didn't waste time on preamble, he went straight into the story from where he stopped the last time.

Kelly was made comfortable in the hotel, with all provision made available. What he never knew was that Pauline was playing a script that the father had written. She made sure she called him almost every hour, to know how he was fairing, she went ahead to promise him that she would make sure he never lacked anything until she finalize the plan for his reinstatement. This made Kelly happy, he wouldn't want it to take long anymore. His friend Chamberlain had done a good job on him, his mind was half way made up to go with whatever plans Pauline had in mind. That notwithstanding, his heart still had that huge space that Olivia occupied and he knew too well that even if Pauline came in, it would take a very long time before she would fill in the huge gap. 

Pauline made sure she got to the hotel in the morning, she would spend some few minutes with Kelly talking to him on the need for him not to worry, that she was sorting it out with her Dad. She would then leave her car and hand over the key to Kelly, incase he needed to move around a bit. Kelly appreciated all she was doing for him, he hadn't seen her from that kind hearted perspective, all had assumed was that she was always showing him kindness because she wanted him by all means. This time, his head couldn't get around it anymore, all he saw was a beautiful heart that felt bad at how her dad was treating a young man, and offered to fight for justice to the advantage of the said young man. 

Pauline was able to keep track and follow up relentlessly because she was getting a trusted feedback from Chamberlain, from him, she was able to know that Kelly had started changing his mind towards her, he no longer reach out to the lady he was always in touch with (being Olivia) and he was desperate to have his job and status back. This was a win win for Pauline, no wonder she trustfully handed over her Ferrari to him to ride, without minding what might happen. She also noticed that unlike before, during her visits, Kelly was more comfortable staying with her, even much closer to the extent that few of her last visits were greeted with hugs and kisses though on the cheek. She knew that it would soon get to deeper affection.

Olivia had to laugh at this point in the story, she took a look at Mira, who was able to understand the meaning of the look. They recalled what Pat had said when they were having a discussion on this same issue, she had tod them that it would result to fallacy of hasty conclusion, if they judge anyone when the story hadn't ended. The twin could now identify that the job, the status and the money, were all inclusive in the factors that made him the supposedly patient man they had termed him. Though they had figured that out, they had immense respect for him, in that he was truthfully telling the story, they knew that some people would have presented their selves as saints in the story while making it look like they were forced into accepting their fate, and had not option than to yield.

When Kelly asked why Olivia laughed, she told him nothing, that she wouldn't be surprised that he was broken with that experience and it made it funny to her. Kelly couldn't help but laugh too, he told her that what he went through those few weeks was better imagined than experienced. When Mira asked why he never thought of exiting, or coming back to her sister, Kelly told her h never thought of that, rather he was thinking he could overcome the challenge just like it was expected of an average man. The answer sounded reasonable to her so she stopped at that question, while Kelly continued. This time, there were barbecue fish and drinks to go with, it was more of a watch night, campaigns had stopped, all they got were numerous calls from their party agents in different locations. Most of them sounded very optimistic that they were on their way to victory. 

On one of the days, Kelly was to go in the car to the beach, he had thought of a quiet place where he could think things through, so he drove down to the beach. When he was about to leave, he called Pauline and told her he wanted to visit the beach. It wasn't as if he was taking permission, rather he had started getting use to communicating with her always. While he was seated in the car, he thought about life in general. He wanted to understand the essence of life, in that when one tried being good, troubles would one way or the other locate such one. While those who were moving around looking for trouble never saw one. He couldn't understand nor could he imagine that such evil could befall him when he had in no way brought it upon himself. It was a long line of thoughts, which led him to think about Olivia too, he couldn't imagine himself telling her what was about to happen or had happened to him and it's effect on their relationship. He knew that Olivia was such a wonderful lady and had not in any way done him wrong, but like he had previously thought, fate had brought troubles his way and in no small measure, it had extended towards an innocent lady. 

This time, it was Mira that smiled, she could picture Kelly in the car thinking, she looked at him with pity, as she asked;.

Were you considering suicide? 

Kelly gave him a surprise look, he wondered how she got to think of that. He told her he never thought of suicide, but the look was based on what happened next. While he was seated there in the car, he heard a roaring of an engine that sounded like a power bike, so he turned around to see what it was from the rear wind shield. To his amazement, it was a Buggati Avant ado, the machine stopped exactly at the back of the Ferrari, while he wondered why, he saw a hand lift the driver's side door, and walk out. There she stood in a hot bum shot and a sleeveless top, her hair were flying with the wind. She was stunning, it was his first time of taking a good and long look of admiration at her. She rushed towards him and they hugged each other. 

Kelly's face was like ine who was in serious wonder, and Pauline noticed it. She told him not to worry, as she was touched to rush to the beach to see him before he hurt or kill himself. She was scared he might think suicide based on how things were going for him.

Olivia looked at Mira, she imagined how she had the same line of thought as Pauline, even as she wasn't there then. It all boiled down to the fact that she would have taking the same measure was she in the same position as Pauline. Mira smiled also, she looked a Kelly who nodded his head to commend her thinking ability. Kelly continued;

Pauline didn't leave the beach again, not without Kelly, she had to call one of their drivers to come take the Ferrari home while she drive the Buggati with Kelly on the front passengers seat. While they drove, to Kelly's surprise, Pauline called the Dad and told him that Kelly was about to go suicidal, and that she was able to get to him before the act. She pushed for his reinstatement immediately, stating that his condition would be the only known reason that would necessitate such act. When she was through with the call; which she did via the car Bluetooth, making it open through the speakers such that Kelly was listening to the conversation; she turned to Kelly and winked, but Kelly's eyes were almost popping out with surprise. It was something he wouldn't have thought of, nor was he expecting such a call in his behalf. He knew Pauline was interceding on his behalf, but making it open in such a manner had his heart melt towards her. Pauline drove to the Hotel, she decided she wasn't going to leave Kelly all alone. Kelly who was now caught in the emotional blackmail, without him knowing, had no reason to object, so they spent the entire day together in the Hotel. It was a moment he never thought would come, it made him feel a little guilt that he cheated on Olivia.

Did you have sex? Olivia asked.
