Chapter 153

Mike and Margaret landed the JFK international airport safe and on time according the flight schedule. It was a smooth one except for Margaret's condition which made both herself and Mike very uneasy. It took quite some time before the got to where the cabs were waiting. The delay was partly due to Margaret's sluggish movement and the routine checks carried out by the immigration and other agencies. Mike was able to get a cab that would take them direct to the house, he had to handle the negotiation alone. When he was done, he driver helped in moving the luggages in the trunk of the car. Margaret had her head resting on Mike's shoulder although the journey.

If there was anything Mike needed most this trying period, it was a medical test so as to confirm what was wrong with Margaret. All through the journey from the airport to the house, he was full of thought on what he would do next. He was not expecting any sign as such so soon, it came as a devil to hunt him. He was not sure of what steps he would take perhaps it was found out that Margaret was truly pregnant. It wasn't part of his plan, he knew how disappointed Olivia would be. He can't even see himself facing her to apologize for such misbehavior. The more the thoughts kept coming, was the more scary and afraid he became.

The driver got to the gate of the house, luckily, the security man at the gate was on duty and on his duty post. When he saw the car approach, he felt it was a guest, so he opened to the gate. The driver got to a good space, packed the car and waited for the duo to alight. Mike got down, he went to the other side, opened the door and helped Margaret get down. Then he lifted and carried her to her room. 

When the staff in the house finally saw that the occupants in the cab that drove in was their madam, they hurriedly grabbed the luggages on ground and followed them. Initially they were expecting some kind of guests to be in the cab, and wondered why the delays before alighting. Having confirmed that it was their madam, they wondered what might be wrong with her, which would bring about being supported to walk. They have never seen their madam in such condition, the would have been afraid had it not been that they recognized Mike and knew he was always with their madam. Also, if It was something so severe, Mike wouldn't have handled it lightly or probably they would have headed to the hospital. 

Mike managed Margaret through the stair case, all the way to the room. To his surprise, she didn't say a word even when it was her room in particular. It was then he knew that whatever she was facing was really serious. He helped remove her shoes and made her feel relaxed on the bed. He showed the two staff that brought the luggages where to keep them. Then he checked her temperature with the back of his palm, although it wasn't that high, it wasn't also normal as it should be.

Mike turned a doctor that evening, he started with a piece of towel soaked in water which he used to calm down her temperature, then he asked her if she would eat. Margaret as at the time had lost appetite. She was feeling very uncomfortable, she was actually sick, but she was making sure she took advantage of it. She was enjoying the fact that she had succeeded in keeping Mike in her house and if she continued being Lucky, she would have him for a longer time.

Margaret was having things working her way, she was also happy that the signs that were naturally seen as that of pregnancy was showing on her body. She was only scared of getting a different news when she would visit the laboratory for series of tests. She wouldn't want to get anything outside the pregnancy. Having gone through these thoughts, she resolved that it would be better if she got a doctor who would understood her and do her bidding with just a token. This would only be possible if he doctor was of her origin, or she had to reach Grandpa for possible contacts so as to get the job done freely. Her refusal to take any drug was for the same fear of the unknown. She felt the drug might be to her disadvantage hence making her lose her pregnancy.

Although Mike was ignorant of the reason behind whatever answer she gave him, he made up his mind to persuade Margaret to either eat or take some medications. Lastly, Margaret accepted to eat, Mike got in touch with the staff who he placed an order according to Margaret's choice. While Margaret ate, Mike tried chipping in the idea of going to the clinic and checkout what it was that have been troubling her. After several trials, Mike settled for her choice of not checking. Margaret was more eager to know exactly what happened to her, than Mike. It was just that she would love to have the test alone, so she would know what next to do peradventure the result doesn't come as she expected.

When Cindy got information that Mike had left the UK, she tried reaching him severally but it didn't go through. She also dropped some messages which were not replied..she felt that it was possible he had left for Africa or some other country probably for business. In her mind, she wasn't seeing his location as a problem since she knew she could afford to travel to wherever he might be and see him. Her main concern was to be sure of who Chase was and who he worked for in that party. Although the young man had promised her to get her the information on that, she was becoming impatient. Cindy was a spoilt child who grew up having a lot of treasure left for her, the only thing that restricted her a little bit was that the wealth of assets were under the custody of a Lawyer. It was part of the will written by her Dad to avoid her mis managing things. The next thing she planned was to find out where Mike would possibly be, she was sure of two possible locations, that being the United States of America or Africa. If he was in the US, she knew that won't take time for her to know, she had a lot of contacts for such a sniffing job. They can sniff out anyone in the country no matter the state. The only challenge which she was ready to go all out for, was that of Africa. She wouldn't mind going down there herself she thought, all she wanted was result. She was not the kind of woman that gives up easily, she would rather get to the root of he issue and even if she fails, she would have succeeded in seeing to the end. 

Cindy called Charles, a CIA who had shown interest in her a lot. Charles was always asking her out for a date, he had proposed that she should give him the opportunity to prove he was the right man so hey could marry. Cindy liked him a lot but she wasn't ready to repeat the experience she had with her ex husband. Even though she didn't say give him an answer, she wisely kept their friendship open-ended. She would once in a while reach out to him and discuss generally on work and other matters, but when Charles brought up her side, she would laugh and promise him that she would think about it. 

On this very day, as she thought of who would be the best to handle the job of finding out Mike's location, she remembered Charles. She had others, but being a smart lady, she knew that Charles would love to impress her, by doing a great job and on time too. If not for anything, he would do it for her to accept his proposal. Moreover he might not accept money to do it. That not withstanding, he would get the best hand in Africa to handle the search if it was finally discovered that Mike had left for his country.

When Cindy called Charles, he was surprised, he never expected such a call at that time. She hadn't on her own call him before, he was always the one reaching out to her. He never saw it as a problem because he felt being the man, also being that he was he one looking for something, it was natural that he kept in touch. When he picked the call, it brought back memories that made him yearn for her. Her voice was naturally soothing to his soul. He listened as she apologized for not always calling, giving the obvious reason of being too busy with work. Finally, she asked for an appointment so they could talk, Charles was so happy that he accepted thinking maybe, it was the time for his proposal to receive a yes.
