Chapter 147

It was a beehive of activities going on in the house, a lot more guests were still trooping in, with the ushers busy welcoming and making sure they had there place. The decorations were classy, with beautiful colors that matched the interior color of the building. Different types and shapes of balloon were seen hanging and dangling on the walls at some specific positions. Already the job of covering the beautiful ambience of the building had started for the journalist and Lucymang. They were moving around with cameras and the microphone having a video and audio explanations of what the place looked like. 

Mike had been in doors all the while, though he wasn't the only one in that position, other members of the household were also not seen around, especially those that do not have a role or part to play in the arrangements of things. While inside, he had been in deep thoughts over the recent events which he noticed, the kind of treatment he was receiving from the family seemed to amaze him. Margaret had also changed immensely, she would seek his consent or advice before indulging in things that had to do with the family, so do other members. It seemed that they saw him as a solution centre for every problem and they have an undoubted belief in his ability. 

He had been on a smart but cautious mood in the recent times, giving answers and discussing in ways that gave him opportunity to read the mind of whoever he was interacting with. This formed part of the reason for his suspicion of Margaret behavioural attitude which he hadn't been used to. One of such was when she took him to the Grandpa, they walked right inside his room and sat comfortably discussing. He wondered why, because since they came to UK, it was either he was left in the room or they were outside the house. He hadn't forgotten the fact that Margaret hadn't allowed him access to her own room while in the US. 

On that day that they met with Grand pa, he had asked Mike to make sure he stood by Margaret no matter what she does, and he wondered why such speech. He knew quite well that the purpose for which he accompanied her to the family house, was to prove a point and that he had done perfectly. At the moment, speeches and actions were turning the acting to reality. He must find out what would have led to that, he thought. He was beginning to wake up from his previous state of total trust, to being suspicious of a foul play somewhere. What he was yet to find out, was that Margaret and family were actually doing all that to prove a point to the massive guest, which would support the already trending news of the pre wedding plan. 

When Chase arrived the house, he was marvelled at the huge size of the building. From the view outside, he already could tell that the family was a rich one. If going by the house and the estimated cost, he would say that they were richer than the Harts. It wasn't a problem gaining access to the building, he had no invitation card, neither does he need it being that the security agents gave him pass.

 Bruno was surprised to see him, he wasn't in anyway expecting he would be around having assigned the job to him. Chase had to let him know how sensitive the job was to him hence his making the trip to see things himself. He asked Bruno if anyone had seen Mike, the answer was negative. He hadn't spent up to 30 minutes when he spotted Cindy's agent. He called Bruno's attention to him and asked that he should be monitored. He felt that he must be there for the wrong reasons due to the way he was behaving. 

There were two people he was looking out for, the agent that Lucy contacted, and Mike. He would have suspected the young man he spotted, but from the interaction he heard between Lucy and Lizzy, he was sure the agent was a lady. If there was anything Chase was sure about, having viewed the atmosphere and the crowed that had gathered already, it was that the job of figuring out who was who, won't be easy. He had to settle for the main job which was to get to the root of picture and figure out if truly Mike planned the pre wedding or not. While waiting for the event to start, he and Bruno decided to take a walk around the house.

It was while they were walking around, as they came close to a stair case, Chase overheard some conversation in a little room. The voice were so clear that he could hear them clearly. His instinct told him to pay more attention to the room, so he dragged Bruno to the side where no one was able to see them. Bruno knew that for Chase to have acted the way he did, something was amidst. Chase payed apt attention and heard the discussion which was centred on why Mike hadn't come down. It was obvious to Chase that whoever it was that was that eager to see Mike down stairs must be there for a different reason. He heard the male voice telling her to calm down, as he would make sure she served them so as to get close to Mike. 

At that point, Chase knew that the ladies voice he heard must be that of Lucy's agent. He needed to wait the much it took for them to come out of the room so he would mark the face. He let Bruno leave so as to survey other things, while he waited. It took quite sometime, but it was worth it, as where he was, no one was able to spot him, he also had a table he sat on making him comfortable. Finally the Chef and the lady walked out of the room, the sight of them was a huge surprise to Chase, he imagined how smart and intelligent the lady must be to have used the chef as her alibi. In his years of service, it was the first time he was experiencing such. It was a rare and almost impossible profession to use as such, especially in such undercover job. They were always busy and wouldn't have time for such. He wondered what and how the lady convinced him to work with her. A second look at the lady so as to remark her, he saw her beauty, that was when he knew that possibly the chef must have either lust or lost in the lady.

Chase left his hiding spot and walked back to where Bruno was standing, he had observed two suspects in the house, one he was sure of what she came there for, the other, he wasn't. While he thought of the best possible way to go about the job, his mind went back to the lady, and he felt she would make things easy for him. All he needed was share his plan with Bruno and with other agents set the plan in motion. One other thing that came to his mind, was that there probably were other unknown agents with same or different assignment in the house.

Lucymang was one of the safest of all the agents, there wasn't anyway she would be suspected of being there for a different motive. Her position had given her a good coverage. On one instance, she had stumbled on Chase, and he helped her up, although she suspected him to be a security agent, his handsomeness threw her off balance which made her not to think that way. She imagined what such man would be like as a husband, for her, Chase was more masculine than Brains, even though Brains was a handsome man too. He was still admiring Chase, when the MC's voice came alive on he speakers. Then everyone knew the party was about to start proper. She and the journalist had to walk back to there former position where they would be able to cover the events as they unfold. 

Chase at that time had already briefed Bruno of his intended plan to abduct the young lady who was with the chef, to get information on the whereabout of Mike. He made Bruno understand that he doesn't have the entire time to waste waiting for the party. Bruno immediately swung into action by designating one of his men who would do the job. They had already surveyed the entire house, so it wouldn't be a difficult task knowing where to move her to. Also being that she wasn't the target, but a means to it, they would release him as soon as possible so as not to create a scene.

As luck would have it, the chef and the lady seemed to have another thing to discuss, so Chase and Bruno spotted them walking to the same direction again, Bruno gave his man a sign and the agent followed swiftly. Chase and Bruno took another door that led to the closest corridor where they waited for signal from the agent. They were to abduct the lady and release her once she showed them Mike's room.
