Am I forgiven?

Chapter fifty

Slowly and carefully, he opened the box like it was a glass that would break if it wasn't handled with care. The moment Xander opened the box, he froze. He was stunned for the second time just that night.

His eyes widened in surprise as he saw the jambalaya and Anna saw them glimmer. It wasn't just about how appetizing the shrimps and sausages looked in the eyes. There was something about the way it was packed that caught his attention. The aroma immediately filled the air and Xander suddenly felt the urge to gobble the food down his throat.

He looked at her, his eyes still widened, "Y-You made this?" Anna could not believe her ears. He'd never stuttered before. It was not just that, Xander's tone was not the usual cold or harsh one. He spoke very softly and Anna could swear that if she'd heard him indistinctively, she'd never have thought that he was the one. There was something about the way he spoke that almost made her knees go weak.

Unable to speak, she nodded instead, looking into his beautiful eyes.

"Come with me,"

As they walked out of the hallway, they walked past a beautiful small room which had love seats and chairs. Anna figured that it must be the visitors' room. As they got off the place, a very large room came into view. Anna was surprised at what she was seeing. Was this the living room? She thought as she saw large stairs. The large room had the same light she saw in the hallway- the very round one, which emitted white light. The room was painted brown. When Anna spotted the sofas in the centre of the room, her eyes flew open.

The brown sofas formed curves which looked like semi-circles. There were quite a number of pillows on the semi-circle sofas and she could see the table between them. It didn't look like a table at all. The table was also brown, like the sofas and the walls. The floor was made of very beautiful marbles and Anna just had to gulp, not sure of how else to react without Mr Williams noticing her. She followed him like a puppet.

She was not sure where Mr Williams was taking her. She however followed him without a question. After a few moments, they reached the dining room which looked like a conference room. Anna was shocked. She'd never known that such kind of dining room existed. The dining room looked big enough for twenty people. He sat down at the centre of the room and motioned for Anna to also have a seat. Anna took the seat beside him. She knew that if she'd chosen to take the seat across from him, he'd have told her to take another, as it was very far from him because the tables and chairs were a lot.

Anna need not ask, she knew that he was living in the house alone. She wondered if it was just a billionaire thing. First, it was Kathryn she discovered, now it was Mr Williams. She watched him as took his cutlery in his hand. Anna knew that she cooked the food well, but she was still somewhat nervous because this would be the first time Mr Williams would be trying her food out. She watched him anxiously, her heart was palpitating in her chest. She hoped that he liked the food.

He immediately stopped eating and Anna could swear that her heart almost stopped.

"Is- Is there any problem?" She asked, wondering why he was still staring at her. However, before she could say any other thing, he continued eating his food and that was enough evidence to show that he liked the food and Anna almost leapt for joy. The feeling was different from when she'd watched him as a form of punishment, back at the company.

"So, do you like it?" She asked, even after knowing that he did. She still wanted his affirmation. Xander simply nodded at Anna's question.

He finished the food rather too soon and Anna smiled, seeing that her idea worked just as she wanted it to.

After a few moments of silence, Anna asked, "So, am I forgiven?" Anna asked almost in a whisper, looking at Mr Williams like her life depended on his answer.
