Thinking of the dishes

Chapter fifty-three

After Anna hung up the call with Vanessa, she went back to the dining room, but she didn't find Mr Williams there. She suddenly started to become very nervous, as she thought of what Vanessa said. Despite the air-cons which ventilated the room, Anna felt sudden heat emanate from her body. She felt her cheeks go hot. What if Mr Williams decided to make a move on her? She thought, swallowing hard as the thought crept into her mind. What was she thinking coming here at a time like this in the first place? She was so hellbent on apologizing to him that it hadn't even crossed her mind that he'd ask her to stay over.

She suddenly thought of what she'd wear to sleep. She couldn't possibly sleep in what she was wearing. Was she going to wear his clothes? She blushed even harder at that thought.

"What are you thinking about?" His seductive voice echoed in the dining room and Anna suddenly jolted in surprise.

"Uh? I was just thinking of- the dishes. I was just about to take them to the kitchen. I was thinking of how to get there- I mean, the kitchen," she said, clearly flustered.

"I see. That explains why you are blushing so hard. You know, it happens to me sometimes. I sometimes think of the dishes and I blush so hard." Xander said sarcastically, as a mischievous smirk formed around the corner of his lips.

Anna blushed even harder, her eyelids subconsciously fluttering. Where was this sarcasm coming from? She thought. She was seeing a different Alexander Williams this night. He'd rendered her speechless for the umpteenth time just this night. She thought.

She was clearly befuddled, as she tried to gather her thoughts. She moved towards the direction she went to take the call before she remembered that she'd used the plates to cover up. She walked back to where she was before picking up the plates. Xander seemed to be enjoying himself as he watched her pace about, trying to think straight. She picked up the plates and was headed to nowhere exactly before she turned, realising that she didn't even know where the kitchen was.

"Right, the kitchen. W- Where is it? I mean, the kitchen." She asked incoherently.

"I'll just accompany you there,"

"No!" The loud objection came out rather fast. "I- I'll just drop it there all by myself, thank you," she said, her voice rather low as she realised that she literally screamed when she said "no".

Xander could not help but smile. He walked up to her as though he didn't even hear her when she'd said "no". He leaned forward and took the plates in her hands, placing his large palm underneath her small one and Anna felt electricity jolt through her veins. Very slowly, he moved his hands across hers and Anna felt sparks all through her body- sparks from his closeness, his intoxicating scent which was playing with her senses, his breath which was making her skin tingle, his eyes which were hypnotising her and most importantly, his magical touch, which sent adrenaline through her veins. She felt her knees go weak and she almost lost her balance.

"How do you plan on taking these when you can't even stand properly?" He whispered in her ears and Anna felt goosebumps all over her skin. She could only swallow with the closeness of their bodies.

"I'll help you with these. Take the one on the table," he said, flashing a mischievous grin. Anna immediately created a distance between them and took the plates on the table.

"Good girl. That wasn't so hard now, or was it? Let's go," he said, winking at her. Anna was beginning to feel hot again. Xander seemed to have noticed it because she heard him chuckle loudly as he sauntered into the kitchen. She'd never heard him chuckle like that, except when he'd been with Kathryn. She was walking very slowly behind him, so she couldn't see his face. She bet that he'd be even more breathtaking as he laughed. If only he'd laugh more often, she thought.

Anna was once again stunned when she saw the kitchen. It was like, every single part of the house was designed with special attention and care. The kitchen floor was tiled with tiles she'd never seen in her life. The black tiles looked like strings that were interwoven artistically. There was a big glass table at the centre of the kitchen which was decorated with two beautiful big flower vases. They looked like they were made with the table. Anna had never seen the kind of chairs that were in Mr Williams' kitchen before. They were unique and very beautiful. They looked like ring lights and Anna wondered just how one would seat on them.

There was a very big glass house in the kitchen where different types of wines and glasses were arranged. Yellow light radiated from the inside and Anna could only gape at the whole view. Beside the glasshouse was a big glass rectangular box where the kitchen sink and tap were situated. The big gas was also situated around the glass box. The kitchen was designed in such a way that one could see the view outside through the glass windows. Anna could not stop the gasp that escaped from her lips as she stared at its grandeur.
