Natasha's visit

Chapter one hundred and three

Davis spent most of his night thinking of how to tell Kathryn what happened between him and Natasha. He barely slept a wink all through the night. He kept rehearsing how he would present the heartbreaking news to her. He eventually drifted to sleep around 5 am, resolving to tell Kathryn about his little secret at the break of the day.

The chiming of Davis' cellphone and the blare of his alarm clock was enough to snap him out of his drowsy state. He groggily picked it up to check the time and he saw that it was 10 am. He immediately rose from the bed seeing that he was way behind schedule.

He quickly dashed into his bathroom and in a few minutes, he was fully dressed. He checked his cellphone and saw a couple of messages from Natasha. On sight, he threw his phone on his bed without checking the content of the messages.

He needed to ask fast despite his fears. He picked up his phone and headed out of his house. This was going to be the hardest thing he'd ever do.

As Davis entered his car, his phone beeped and he seethed. He was so sure that it was Natasha.

"Crazy bitch, you must be fucking kidding to think I'll continue to play by your fucking rules-"

"Mr Coleman? Were you talking to me?" An equanimous voice echoed from the phone, interrupting Davis.

"Mr Vaughan! Good morning. What a pleasant surprise. It's been ages." Davis immediately regained composure. Fuck! This was not good. How could Pete Vaughan call him all of a sudden, and out of the blue? He had no idea that it could be him.

"I suppose that you took me for someone else."

"I'm so sorry about that, Mr Vaughan. I mistook you for someone else. So, what's new?" Davis asked, feeling a little embarrassed.

"There is an emergency, Davis Coleman, and I'm afraid that you are the only man that can handle this."

"What happened, Mr Vaughan?"

"It's a matter of life and death, Coleman. If you don't make it here in time, I'm afraid that someone is going to die."

Fuck!

Pete Vaughan was Davis' superior. He'd been working for him for a long time before he went away from the country. On an occasion, Davis had helped Pete virtually when he was away from the country, but that was a long time ago. He always mentioned that he was one hell of an irreplaceable man. Davis knew that voice too well. He knew that something was wrong.

Davis had been working in D & V Hospital as a surgeon before he eventually stopped practising as a medical practitioner. It was a personal decision for Davis. He was very good at surgery and he used to handle nearly everyone which proved difficult for his superiors. They had coaxed him to stay to no avail when he'd informed them of his intention to stop practising as a medical practitioner. Davis figured that for Pete Vaughan to call him, this must be something very serious.

He'd have to see Kathryn later, he had an emergency to attend to. His tyres immediately screeched and Davis headed to D and V Hospital.

In Kathryn's house...

Kathryn had been sulking since the little misunderstanding that ensued between Davis and her. She found herself always checking her phone for any text or call from him. Every single time she got a call, deep down she hoped that it would be him. She got a call from Natasha who surprisingly told her that she was in her house. Natasha had mentioned it in passing that she'd pay her an unexpected visit someday but Kathryn never once thought that it would be this soon. The timing was wrong but she welcomed her nonetheless.

"Hey, Natasha. What a pleasant surprise! I didn't think you were serious about paying me an unexpected visit." She welcomed her with a smile and a friendly kiss.

Natasha was a beautiful round blonde with an oval-shaped rosy face, a pointed nose and full red lips.

"I'm full of surprises. I always have been. How are you doing, Kat? You don't look your best."

"I'm alright, Natasha. I'm just a little tired. You look stunning. It's so good to finally see you. What would you like me to offer you?"

"I hate to say this Kathryn, but I wouldn't really be spending so much time here, so juice is just fine. I'd take strawberry juice." She said with a smile. Immediately after Kathryn left, Natasha took in the whole view of the house. She couldn't believe that Kathryn owned the house. She'd been dazzled since she saw Kathryn's gate. She'd almost lost consciousness when she entered the house.

Natasha had texted Davis severally, but all her efforts to get him to reply to her were futile. She'd also called him severally but he didn't pick up any of her calls. She'd gotten so riled up because he was ignoring her calls and texts. She'd also dialled Xander's number in a bid to reach Davis through him but he'd also not answered. She'd made up her mind to finally break the happy union between the two love birds. A wicked smirk appeared on her face which immediately disappeared as she saw Kathryn walk back in with a jar of juice in her hand.
