Chapter one hundred and ninety-two

The thoughts of everything made the world around her spin. She couldn't believe that she was used by Greg to get closer to Anna. She felt bad, worse even because she was the cause of everything. She shouldn't have believed Greg. She shouldn't have let him in her life in the first place. She should have told him to piss off the very first day they met. She shouldn't have trusted him at all. She felt a very strong headache. It was as though a strong metal was hit on her head.

In the next minute, Vanessa's eyes were shut, she was surrounded by darkness, and she became unconscious. She was still lying on the floor, her hands were still tied to the back of the chair.

"Vanessa! Vanessa! Vanessa!" Anna screamed, tears rolling down her cheeks, her hands covering her mouth in surprise. Vanessa had fainted as a result of the shock. Anna stared coldly at Greg and at that moment, she wished that she could rip his heart apart. She'd never felt so much hatred for a person. She'd in fact never hated anyone before. He was the first person she would ever hate. All her life, she'd always loved, wholeheartedly at that, no one had ever done something so bad to her that she'd hate such a person. But Greg? She hated his guts.

"She can't even hear you, Anna. Save your breath, I can bet that you'd be needing a lot of it later. Besides, she's not dying or anything. Relax. She's just asleep, she needs it after all she's gone through. Poor thing, I can only imagine what she's going through." He gave Vanessa one last pitiful look before walking back to Anna.

"You are such a cruel person, Greg. How can you possibly live knowing how much havoc you've wreaked? How can you?" Anna crouched on the floor, balled her fist and banged it on the glass, crying uncontrollably.

Jaden on the other hand was just staring at Greg in disbelief. He couldn't understand him at all. He was certain now that he was no normal human being. He had to be schizophrenic. Jaden was no saint, he was in fact far from one. He'd made a lot of mistakes in his life, quite a number of them, and he's not proud of them at all. Each time he thought of them, he hated himself so much for them. But he'd been trying, trying to become a better person, not for anyone now, but himself.

"I hope you rot in hell for this, scoundrel," he seethed.

"Just wait till Mr Williams finds you, you'll regret that you were ever born," Anna said, her face twisted in a grimace.

"Anna, Anna, Anna. That's where you got it all wrong. He doesn't even suspect me. Well, maybe he did at first, but not anymore. I'm sure that he'd done some background check on me. No, that didn't come out right. I'm certain that he did some background check on some Greg Carey and found nothing. Else, he'd have suspected something. But no, he has other suspects right now. Brave of me, don't you think? I made sure I took myself from the limelight. As for how I sleep and wake up after all these- isn't that cliche already?" Greg shrugged at her.

"What do you intend to do with me, Greg?"

"Yes, what the hell do you have up your sleeves, you clart."

"The next time you call me that again, I swear, you wouldn't like it because I would be sure to rip off all your teeth," he threatened.

"Till I'll decide what to do with you, Anna, you'll be staying there in that glass, especially because you tried to defy me. Disobeying me is very costly. It has its consequences."

"I hate you. I hate you so much, more than the most despicable thing in the world, and I'll never forgive you for what you've done." Anna said.

"Do I look like I care about that, mi amor?" A wicked smile appeared on his face.

She was a fool for not noticing this man. She remembered the day that they'd met in her house, she remembered that she was a little nervous, but she'd ignored all the awkward feelings that she had. She thought back on the words of Xander, who'd asked her if she trusted him. She remembered how she'd vouched for Greg, how she'd explained that she trusted him. If only she'd stayed back...It was no use regretting now, what was done was done. She needed to get away from this man, she only hoped that they were on their way already.
