Chapter two hundred and fourteen
Kathryn's tears trickled freely down her cheeks and Davis held her face in his hands, wiping her cheeks with his thumbs.
"What took you so long, dummy? Who mentioned anything about it being so ridiculous? I've been waiting for you since forever. Who said that you should go back in time, huh? The present and future are more than enough. It's more than enough for you to show me how much you love me, Dave. I look forward to many more years of loving you. I don't know how you did it, but the moment you walked into my life, you became the most indispensable person in my life. I guess we are stuck like glue."
Did he hear that right? She had been waiting for him to come to her? Davis had no idea. He could almost not believe the words coming out of Kathryn's mouth. She'd also called him Dave. That was new. She usually called him Davis. He wasn't complaining, though. He liked it. The name sounded enthralling. He could listen to her call him Dave all day without getting tired of her voice.
"Really, Kat?!" Davis asked to be sure that his ears were not playing tricks on him and Kathryn nodded in reply.
Davis felt like running out of the room and screaming Kathryn's name but he squeezed her into his arms instead.
"Thank you so much, Kathryn. I love you more than I can express in words. Thank you for giving me another chance. I don't know what I would do without you, Kat. I thought that I had lost you forever. Thank you for still choosing me despite my shortcomings." Davis held her hand and brought it to his lips, grazing the back of her hands with them.
"I wanted to thank you too, Davis." Davis shot her a puzzled look. He wondered why she would want to thank him.
"What for?" He asked curiously.
"I saw what you did back at the haunted house, both you and Xander. You were willing to risk your life to save mine. You were willing to take the bullet(s) in my stead. Davis, I love you so much. I was so shocked to see that you wouldn't hesitate to protect me at your peril, and somehow, it comforted me. Thank you so much, Davis."
"I'd do that for you over and over again if chance would let me because you are Kathryn Williams, the one who completes me in ways I never thought of, the only one who my heart beats for. Kathryn, you have come to be the most important person to me on the entire planet and I don't give a fuck about what anyone says, I'll love you till my last breath, Kathryn. Life is more beautiful with you in it and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
Kathryn was so moved by Davis' words so much so that tears streamed down her cheeks. She found herself crying all over again. But this time, the tears were tears of joy, they were tears of satisfaction- she was pleased with what she was hearing. It made her feel loved and wanted. She felt a lot better. It had been so long since she heard something like this. Maybe she hadn't even heard something like this before. Davis was willing to spend his forever with her.
Davis closed the little distance between them and locked their lips. He kisses her so tenderly. He had missed her lips so much, he had missed everything about this woman. He didn't know where this kind of kiss was coming from, but he found himself giving it to her. He'd always kissed hard and rough. But this time, he found himself kissing Kathryn so passionately, yet tenderly. His kisses held a lot of promises- promises that he was willing and ready to make to Kathryn. He sucked on bee bottom lips before tearing his lips from her. He withdrew from her and stood to his feet.
"On this note, would you make me the happiest man on Earth by marrying me?" Davis knelt on one knee and held Kathryn's hand.
