Chapter Fifty-One

In the hall, pulse pounding music was pouring out of the speakers causing the furniture to vibrate from the mad beat. Some of the girls were dancing their hearts out, some were busy on their phones making snap videos and one of the girls was passed out across the length of the couch.

Probably from too much drink in her system.

As she walked across the length of the hall, no one really noticed her movement. She felt naked and exposed, as if when they looked, if they did it hard enough they would realize she had just collected intense penising.

But everyone was just lost in their own world, doing their thing as they tried to enjoy themselves. It was as if they were on a break of sorts, that was understandable seeing as the celebrant and the master of ceremonies were in the restroom fucking the hell out of each other.

Adaeze gently lowered herself to the couch, holding her purse tight to her person. This aspect of Abike was very much new, she had not suspected it at all. But then, Nigeria was not a country where such a thing could be shouted on the rooftop. A time might come when she would be able to boast about it, but for now it was still illegal.

Ada could not help but wonder if Abike’s fiancée had any idea that his wife to be was also into girls, will the revelation of that change anything in their nuptial plans?

Ada let out a deep breath, she honestly did not know why it was bothering her.

She could bet her last kobo that everyone in the hall was in one serious relationship or the other, but it was as if they had all left their relationship status at home and come here very much single with plans to do freaky things.

Were they just not like her? She was all over Ikeja, jumping from man to man. It was only natural that she was meeting people with the same mindset. After all, the kind of friends you keep determine the kind of person you are.

But then, these ladies were not her friends. The only person she knew here was Abike, and the rest were total strangers. Furthermore, her actual friends back home in Owerri were not like this in the least. They were just like how she had been in the past before she had come to Lagos. Boring and stiff.

And now, since she had decided to take matters into her own hands, she had been coming across people who were just like her now. People in relationships that had little or no regards to those they were dating.

Although she doubted Musky was in any serious relationship, she did not know why but it just did not seem like he could hold a relationship in place. But still, she would not be surprised if he had a wife and kid somewhere in this Lagos State. The same for Femi, she was sure the guy would have a girlfriend. But it would probably be a distance relationship, either due to schooling or work. Either way, that would give him a lot of time to himself to do as he liked. Like spending multiple nights over at the hotel with another woman.

And then, Ken. The worst of them all. He was unashamedly married and unapologetic about what he was doing. And it was him that was really resonating with her probably because she was also unapologetic about what she was also doing. After all, she knew that she should not do it, and yet she was still going ahead to do it.

What the hell was the world turning into?

And then, let her not even get started on her next room neighbor at the hotel. The one she had also felt some sort of connection to earlier on. It was as if any direction she turned she would see people cheating just like her. Betraying the trust that people had placed in them. Was it like this because this was now going to be her life? Was this how she was going to be forever?

This tryst she was doing was never meant to last forever. Her plan was to have one week of insane sex, that was all. She was sure she would be able to slide back into her old life by the time she returned to Owerri. After all, how hard can it be?

Although, she did have to admit, things had gotten out of hand and she had gotten more than she had intended. Her plan had just been to spend the week having sex with Femi. But somewhere along the line, Tunde had come in along with Ken and Musky. And now, another woman would also be added to the mix.

It was as if the moment she had decided to cheat on her fiancée, she had subconsciously decided to go all in. So whenever an opportunity presented itself, she did not hesitate to take advantage.

As if the men she was surrounded with here in Lagos was not enough, even these ladies were also in on it as well. After all, no one that was in a serious relationship and was willing to stick to that commitment would have sucked Musky’s dick just like that.

She let out a sigh, since she had ventured into this new world, she had been learning quite a lot. There were so many things that were happening but a lot of people just had no idea. She felt that it was all for the best, because it was only the secrets that you knew that could give you a heart attack or send you to an early grave.

It was a good thing people could not read minds, because a lot of them would be committing murders on a daily basis.

Slowly, Adaeze relaxed into the couch, she took of vodka and poured a generous amount into her cup. She swirled it a little and then took a sip, she closed her eyes as she felt it burn through her throat. She nodded, for some reason, she felt like she really needed it.

She had been drinking quite a lot, but somehow she was yet to get drunk. Although that sex with Musky had burnt away some of the alcohol, but she was looking to get a little bit tipsy. She would not be the only one left out.

Soon after, the restroom opened up and Musky stepped out, dressed in the shorts he had previously come in. He made his way through the hall and winked at her before he went out, closing the door behind him. And then, the door opened up soon after and Abike walked out, closely followed by Modesta. They looked fresh and neat, their makeup still perfect as they made their way to their seats. No one would have guessed they had just come from serious fuckery.

Abike took her seat on her throne while Modesta perched on the edge of one of the couches.

“Who else is ready for us to continue this?” Modesta asked, raising her voice so they could all hear.

The music was reduced and the ladies cheered. They were ready to move on to the next agenda of the party. Even the lady that had been sleeping woke up while they were cheering and the first thing she did was to pour more vodka into her cup and down it in one go. When she cheered, her voice was the loudest.

“Well, who is in the mood for some truth or dare?”

An empty vodka bottle was taken and all the girls sat in a circle, pulling the couches closer to each other. When the bottle was spun, whoever it ended up facing was asked to choose between telling a truth or doing a dare. And they had to choose one.

All the girls were in for it and they were all playing happily.

There were dares to go naked in front of the camera, do lapdance, kiss the celebrant. And there were truths that were asking really personal questions. The first time the bottle pointed at Adaeze, she chose a dare and she was dared to do a striptease for all of them. After that, she chose truth throughout. She was asked about the craziest sexcapede she had ever done. And she told them the one of the day before. Where she had slept with three men in one day alone.

Yeah, that was the Ken, Femi and Musky story. She did not mention when it had happened, but they were still wowed anyway.

Even Abike the celebrant was not left out. when it got to her turn, she chose dare and was told to dance like a stripper. Naked.

And she did it, she also had a good command of the pole, which surprised everyone.

“Abi you have done this work before ni?” One of them asked with a laugh seeing the way she went up and down its length expertly.

“Ahh…” she had muttered in response, “it is not everything people will be saying, right?”

Adaeze nodded as she understood. If there was one thing this night had taught her, it was that Abike was not who she had thought she was at all. The young girl she had known in her secondary school was very different from this woman that was about to get married to the man she supposedly loved.

But then, what about herself? Was she the same person she had been back in her secondary school days? Secondary school days is even far, what about a week ago. Was she the same woman that had left Owerri a week ago? What was different about her?

Everything. That was the only thing she could say. This trip had changed her, and she knew that life would no longer be as she had once known. But she was certain that she would make it work. After all, it was to get better that she had come here in the first place.

The games and fun went on though, and soon, they ran out of questions to ask and dares to do. And so the game was losing its fun. By that time, it was sometime around three in the morning.

“Well…” Modesta announced after the last person had done her dare, “I believe we have finally come to the end of our agenda for tonight! All that remains now is for us to dance our hearts out.”

The music was increased and soon, all of them were dancing hard and fast. This time around, it was as if the music was raised to the highest, because the sounds were literally bouncing off the walls. They were deafening, but none of them cared. Adaeze was sure that she would wake up with a splitting headache tomorrow.

She did not dance though, she just did not have the urge. She had been drinking steadily and now it was beginning to kick in. She could feel herself get tipsy, although she was sure she still had control of herself.

She was just relaxed in the couch, sipping her drink as she watch the ladies have their fun. From the way they were going about it, she was pretty sure this was not the first time they were having something like this. They were too closely knit, and none of them were finding anything they were doing surprising or out of the ordinary the way she was.

They were dancing with each other, rocking themselves and grabbing boobs. Some of them were twerking and giving lap dances. They were just having the time of their lives.

Watching then, Ada could not help but wonder the kind of lives they had. Away from all this that they were doing and the lives they always ended up returning to. Did they also have privileged lives like her? Or were they just normal workers who chose to have that kind of life? But then, they all chose it. It was not as if the life was forced on anyone.

All she knew was that there are reasons people do everything they do, sometimes the reasons might not make sense to outsiders but it was to be known that thee reasons made sense to the people carrying out the act.

Take her for instance, she was out here having monkey sex every other day while her husband was working his ass off trying to make more money for her. And what was her reason?  She wanted to discover herself.

There were of course other methods to discover herself, but why had she chosen this particular one? She had no answer to that.

It was not an easy decision and she knew the implications of what such a thing would do to her and her family if it got out. But she had come to terms with that and she was still willing to see this her journey through to the end.

Once it ended, she would comfortably put it all behind her and know that everything that happened in Lagos, stayed in Lagos for good.

The dance went on for over an hour, and soon, they were all getting tired.

“I guess we all have to end it now,” Modesta muttered, sitting on the throne while Abike sat on her lap. “The wedding is tomorrow morning and we need to be there on time.”

“Oh boy…” Adaeze muttered, she had totally forgotten about the wedding tomorrow.

How was she going to make it back to her hotel and sleep enough so she would be bright eyed for the wedding tomorrow?

But then, she had no choice. This  was the reason she had told everyone she was coming to Lagos, there was no way she could miss it. Unless she wanted to tell them all the reasons why. She had no choice, she would have to make it.

All of them were of the same idea, and they began to pack up their things. Some were touching up their makeups so they could look presentable seeing as Ikeja was one of the cities in Lagos that never slept.

“Abike’s place is not too far from here,” Modesta told them. “She and I would be headed there tonight, seeing as I would have to help her to dress tomorrow morning.”

Adaeze paused at that and looked at the two, she had an idea what the two of them would be doing for the rest of the night. And seeing as Abike always hosted her guests in her room, it will just be another Friday for her family.

They began to say their goodbyes, and soon they were all trickling out. One by one, they made their way out.

“I will see you later, babes.” Ada told Abike as she hugged her close, “thank you for a wonderful time.”

“I should be thanking you, you made my night memorable.”

She also hugged Modesta, and then she turned and left the hall, leaving only the two of them inside.

Whatever they chose to do was up to them.

Just as she was about taking out her phone from her purse so she could order an Uber, she stopped as she sighted Musky walking towards her.

“What the hell took you so long?” He asked, “I have been waiting for you.”
