Chapter 24: Stick to our Agreement!

There was literally nothing else Anna could do to remedy the situation hence her suggestion to go home. They left the party through the backdoor in order to avoid the camera warriors at the entrance of the hall and to avoid been inconvenienced or queried by the crowd.

Anna accompanied them outside and stayed with Paige till Bruce, Simon's personal driver arrived with the car. She assisted Paige into the car and waved her bye. Simon entered the car too. He took a seat opposite Paige who was obviously still mad at him and didn't hide it.

Once they settled inside the car, Paige still wore a long face showing that she was still angry. She used her two free hands to hold her jacket in place covering the ripped part adequately.

The engine of the car roared to life and they started their journey home in silence. Both kept throwing quick glances at each other.

Paige was very mad at Simon and wanted to say a lot of things to him. But she remembered that she was his employee and his family actually paid for the dress. So, couldn't help but keep quiet.

"I'm sorry." Simon apologized breaking the silence but got no reply. "I'm talking to you Sunflower, I said I'm sorry."

"My name is Paige Patterson." She said with a straight face. Simon placed his arm on the seat rest and squeezed it absentmindedly.

Begging was never his thing. He grew thick skin a long time ago as early as the age of 13, he was exposed to certain lifestyle that was inadequate for a teen coupled with the lack of love and attention he got from his late father. He was lonely and sad. He remembered how his life started changing for good when Emily came. She brought along rays of hope for him. Though there were certain damages that have been done that couldn't be undone.

Looking at Paige, he quickly snapped back to the present day. He was sad to see her this angry. He wanted to make things right but he had no idea how he'd go about it.

"I'm sorry. P.l.e.a.s.e...." he whispered as his voice trailed off.

"Such a vibe killer. And I was having fun! Must you ruin any chance I have at being happy?" She asked angrily.

"What? I don't understand." Simon said surprised. "I've never ruined any of your belongings before. So, why the sudden accusation?"

"Whatever." She replied and looked out of the car window suddenly feigning interest in their journey home. Few minutes later, they arrived the Kentley's Mansion. She stepped out of the car and walked into the house still with a long face. Simon followed her behind.

She climbed the stairs hurriedly and got to her room. Before Simon could say jack, she banged the door to his face. "Sunflower." He called standing in front of her door. "Sunflower." He called again with a slight knock on the door. Yet, he got no answer. Just as he was about giving up, the door knob twisted. She walked out having changed into a thick cardigan dress. She handed his jacket to him.

"Thank you. Good night." She said and closed her door not giving him the chance to say another word. Simon waited for a while, he lifted his knuckles to knock softly on her door again before he decided against it. He walked down to his room with his head hung down.

Once inside, Paige checked her wardrobe for a more comfortable dress to change into. She had worn the cardigan dress hurriedly so as to quickly give Simon his jacket. While searching for a sleepwear, she stumbled on her own copy of the explained version of her contract with the Kentleys. She pulled it out and dropped it on her bed.  She smiled dryly when she remembered how smoothly she lied to Nathan about reading the contract.

Right then, she needed to get the process moving as fast as possible. Cause she was in dire need of the cash she would realize from the job.

"Ah," she exclaimed as she got into her bed after changing into a more comfortable sleeveless sleepwear. She picked up the contract and started reading. It was important that she read that contract. She wanted to start avoiding anything that might lead to having issues with Simon as much as she could.

******************

Paige woke up at the first sound of her phone alarm. These days, she's been oversleeping. And have not being able to exercise in the mornings as much as she does before the start of the day hence her reason for setting an alarm. Though she was up at the first ring, she felt a bit down or tired rather from yesterday's event though she was unable to stay for the main event.

She sighed remembering yesterday. She didn't even bid Frankie goodnight. She would have called him but she was unable to get this contact before Simon's interference. She rolled her blanket to the side and stepped down from her soft cozy bed, spread her blanket on the floor and decided that it was best to carry out some basic yoga stretches in order to strech her muscles and brighten her mood.

A knock came on the door causing her to pause from her stretches. The maid, Samira walked in to announce that breakfast will be ready in 15 minutes. "I'll be down in a few." She replied. The maid left and Paige made her way to the bathroom. She took a quick shower, wore a purple cotton blouse and an ash white washed short. Tied her hair back with the help of an elastic band.

As she climbed down the stairs to the sitting room, the whole house seemed unusually quiet. She went into the dinning room and saw Simon sitted comfortably.

"Where's Anna and Emily?" Paige asked taking a seat at the table.

"They are not back yet. They couldn't make it home last night so they spent the night at Anna's place in Acubana since it was closer to them. They are on their way home already." He told her.

"Oh, okay." Paige replied.

"Good morning, How was your night?" He asked her.

"It was fine, thank you." She replied.

"Sunflower, I am very sorry about yesterday. It was never my intention to......

"Simon, it's okay." She interrupted him. "I must apologize too. I was throwing tantrums like a baby. I am so sorry." She apologized.

A soft laughter escaped from his lips. "Honestly, I've never seen you angry before or I could say you've always concealed your anger well enough. But yesterday, you let everything out and if I'm honest, I loved seeing that part of you." He said. Just then Sherman opened the dinning room door and walked in hurriedly. He immediately bowed at Simon as a form of greeting.

"A call came in for Miss Paige. It's still on hold at the drawing room." He announced. There was silence in the room. Simon looked at Paige

"Who's on the line?" He asked Sherman who kept his head down without a word. "Who the fuck is calling my house phone?" He asked Sherman again trying to control his rising anger. His cheek bones protruding.

"Mr. Tedson of the Tedson brothers sir." Sherman replied.

"I'll get that." Paige said standing up hurriedly. She rushed off to the drawing room before Simon could say a word.

"Miss Paige, you dare not received a call with my house phone! That was stated already in a contract you signed!!" Simon shouted after her folding his hand into a fist. But Paige was already out.

Back at the drawing room, Paige picked up the telephone. "Hello." She said into the phone.

"Hello princessa." Frankie's voice echoed.

"Frankie, hey. You shouldn't have called via my employee's phone." She told him.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't get your number the other day and I didn't know how else to reach you. I don't even have Anna kentley's number anymore. So, I was left with only this option." He said.

"That's fine. Call me with my personal number." She said and called out his cellphone number for him after which she hung up. Her cellphone started ringing almost immediately and she picked up.

"It's Frankie." He said once she picked picked up. "I'm sorry for causing any sort of inconvenience with my previous call." He apologized again.

"It's fine Frankie. It's really nothing." She reassured him.

"You ghosted me yesterday." He said and paused for a reply.

"Of course not. I had a bit of an emergency issue with Emily and my dress mistakingly got ripped too. Had to rush home. I hope you understand." She explained calmly.

"You owe me and you have to make it up to me" He said in reply.

"What do you have in mind?" She asked turning slightly towards the door and sighted Simon at the door with hands in his trouser pocket and a serious face.

"A lunch maybe. I would love to see you again." He said.

"Me too. I take my off during weekends. If you're free, we could see this evening since today is Saturday." She suggested.

"That would be so lovely. Should I pick you up?" Frankie asked.

"That won't be necessary. Just text me the address. I'll meet you there." She told him and dropped the call to face Simon who happened not to have moved an inch from his position since she saw him standing there.

"I'm sorry about that. It was an emergency and he didn't have my contact initially." She explained.
