Just as they were exchanging pleasantries, Emily walked in on them from the drawing room with a lovely and charming smile. "Son." She called Simon walking up to them happily.
"Mum." Simon replied and moved up to meet her. They hugged each other tightly.
"I've missed you so much." Emily said to him. "You look way better now. I guess you've rested well." She murmured to his hearing alone touching his face.
"Yes mum. I feel a lot better at the moment." He replied to her hearing alone. "You have to say hello to Aunt Bridget." He whispered cause he knew how much Bridget made Emily uncomfortable. "Can you handle her alone? I want to quickly pay a short visit to a friend." He asked Emily who nodded uneasily.
"I can handle her." She replied in a whisper. "If she give me too much trouble, I will leave for my room." She told him and he nodded seeing that it was fair enough besides he has never supported Bridget making people's life unbearable. "Bridget," Emily called flashing her best smile as she walked to Bridget with her son beside her. "Welcome home. It is so nice to see you." She said clamoring for a hug. Bridget reciprocated and both hugged each other with fake smiles.
"I wish I could say same." Bridget whispered with a smile. "Thank you so much for having me." She further said in a much louder tone as they broke their hug.
Simon went back to standing beside Paige and holding her hands. "Mum, I'd love to borrow Paige for few hours. I promise to bring her back as soon as possible. Please?" He pleaded with Emily.
"Of course, you can go!" Bridget and Emily chorused respectively.
"You can go son." Emily finally said. "I'm quite alright and Anna will be back soon." She added. "Now come Bridget, let's show you to your room." She called taking Bridget by the wrist and ignoring her glare. The two women left for Bridget's room while Simon turned to Paige.
"Seriously?" Paige asked. "Where do you plan on taking me to without my consent?" She asked folding her arms.
Simon chuckled happily. "Relax, we ain't fighting. Where do you want to go?" He asked.
"But you just got back. You should relax and chill off a bit. Ain't you tired?" She asked.
"No, I'm not tired sweetheart. I'm feeling so great at the moment. So, where do you want to go to? Lakeview?"
"What!" Paige exclaimed laughing at Simon's adventurous gesture. "Of course not. That is such a long distance from home. We will end up not coming back today and I seriously do not want to stay away from Emily for so long.
"Okay, okay. Where then?" Simon asked impatiently.
"Mmm, maybe Tenor and Bralle." She replied. "It's just a couple of minutes away."
"So T and B it is then." He said.
"Only if you confirm that there is parking space for our car." She said reminding him of the most important obstacle one can face at Tenor and Bralle.
"That is not a problem. Let's go, I'll call Tenor once we get to the car." He said holding her.
"Excuse me, I'm yet to wear something outside worthy. You don't expect me to go out looking all plain." She said with a demonstration.
"Actually, you look perfect in my eyes. Now, let's go." He said pulling her along playfully.
"Simon, are you sure? She asked tagging along.
"A hundred percent." He replied as they got to the porch. They moved down to the garage and Bruce stepped out almost immediately. "The keys Bruce." Simon asked with a stretched hand.
"I can drive you anywhere Boss." Bruce offered.
"No, that's fine. Just get some rest. You need it so much. Anna went to pick Jack, so they will be pretty soon. Just stay home alright." He insisted taking the key from Bruce.
"Yes Boss." Bruce replied. Turning to Paige, he bowed slightly. Miss Paige." He greeted.
"Hi Bruce." Paige acknowledged his greeting with a smile and wondered what was his connection with Anna's godson. Anna had told her earlier that she was going to pick up her godson from school to attend June's wedding. But that was it. She wondered why Bruce had to stay back because of that.
"Let's go." Simon said helping her into the passenger's seat while he took the steering. Slowly he maneuvered his way out of the Mansion. The bougainvillea faux fence allowed tiny pecks of sunlight on her skin as the drive towards the first entrance of the mansion. Within minutes, they hit the streets of Creek island as they made their way to Tenor and Bralle.
"Have you called Tenor?" She asked him.
"Just texted him few minutes ago. Do not worry, there will always be a parking space for us." He reassured her.
"Why did you ask Bruce to stay back and wait for Anna and her godson?" She asked.
"And here we go again." Simon started with a mild laughter. "Always inquisitive." He said.
"Just answer me Simon." Paige said rolling her eyeball.
"Fine. Jack is Bruce's son." He replied.
"Bruce is married?" She asked surprised.
"He was. But not anymore."
"What happened?" Paige pushed foward.
"I really do not know the full detail. But she left." He replied. "She may have a reason though. I'm not judging or blaming her unless I hear her own side of the story." He added.
"I never knew he had a son." She said looking at Simon who had his eyes glued to the road with a smile. He adjusted the steering wheel with one hand and with the other hand, he traced for Paige's hand and when he found it, he entwined his with it and slowly brought it to his lips and kissed it.
Paige's belly swarm with tiny butterflies and she blushed. Their hands remained locked together until they took the bend to Tenor and Bralle. At the sight of his car, the security at the car lot waved at them to get Simon's attention and he directed them behind the building to a parking lot behind. "I told you we'll always have a parking space." Simon giggled.
"Well, I never doubted you. So, stop trying to rub it in." Paige replied pinching his palm.
"Oh no, you just looked for trouble." He said as he attempted to grab her. Paige made a run for the door but it was locked by Simon who laughed incoherently. "No where to go darling." He said grabbing her back as he leaned closer to her. Paige could feel his breath on her face when she placed her hand on his chest, she realized that his heart was beating loudly as much as hers.
"Let's go inside." She suggested in an inaudible voice that Simon strained his ears to hear.
"Okay." Simon whispered as his gaze fell on her lips. Slowly he sat up and unlocked the car doors. Stepping out from the driver's seat, he helped her down from the car as well and they made their way to the front door of Tenor and Bralle with the sweet aroma of their food wafting out from the tiny openings of the restaurant.
