WE ARE NOT KIDNAPPING A CHILD!!!

[ As expected the two of them were already stronger than the God of love so his charm did not work on them but unexpectedly they did actually end up falling in love. ]

[ Their love however didn't become a burden in their cultivation, it only made them stronger. The emperor became even more furious and plotted against them, Feng and Jun were forced to fight the entire army of heaven on their own.

They both fought for a year straight without eating, drinking or sleeping. Jun died on the last day of the year and after that Feng also died soon, on the first day of the year. So close yet so far apart.

The mortals trying to remember them celebrate the lunar festivals, the second lunar festival is celebrated on the last week of the year, while the first Lunar festival will be celebrated on the first week of the year ]

[ was the player moved to tears? ]

"I have several logic based questions but for now can you tell me more about the flower viewing that the shopkeeper mentioned earlier?'

[ … ]

"Why are you silent?"

[ player is such a cold-hearted person… ]

Hearing the system's remark, Shen Mingze couldn't help but scoff. He was a cold-hearted person? Wasn't this just pot calling the kettle black?

"The story was probably just made up anyway."

The reason why Shen Mingze questions the validation of this story is not because he doesn't believe in the existence Gods or anything like that, it would be really ironic if that was the reason, rather it is because, he refuses to believe that someone so stupid could ever become the emperor of heavens.

wasn't everyone in this story more of an idiot than the rest?

If the God emperor was like that, then weren't the humans set up for doom?

[ well not all of it is true… ]

See that's what he was talking about.

[ the real name of those cultivators weren't Feng and Jun ]

Shen Mingze, who was listening to the system tell him the backstory of the lunar festival while drinking wine, suddenly started to choke on his drink.

Humanity really was set up for doom!

The people around him looked towards him with concerned gazes but he waved them off while smiling, making them know that he was fine.

"Anyway.. Just tell me about the flower viewing"

[ There is a special type of herb called the "raining saffron buds" it's flowers only bloom during the two lunar festivals, many people take these as the symbol for eternal love and go to enjoy the view of the flowers with their loved ones. ]

"I see"

Shen Mingze who had finally somewhat calmed down, decided that he would also visit the so-called flower viewing later. Now that he thinks about it, isn't it similar to the Sakura-flower viewing of Japan?

When his Dad, He Wendu, was alive they would often travel the world together, Japan was one of those places.

Shen Mingze paid for the wine and then began to leave. He looked around the street when his eyes caught a glance of something or rather someone.

In an empty alley behind the hustle and bustle of the lively city was the figure of a small child curled up, there was a broken bowl in front of the child, the kid was probably begging for food.

Shen Mingze saw that the kid would flinch just a little when someone would walk past him, he wouldn't ask them for food or money or anything, he would just lay there shivering.

And despite him not causing anyone any trouble, a man still made the conscious effort to kick away the bowl in front of him before walking away. Truly what a cruel person... but it wasn't Shen Mingze's place to get involved.

[ Is the player going to help the kid? ]

"No it's not my place to interfere"

[ … ]

"..."

[ then why is the player rushing to buy a blanket that is clearly too short for him to use? ]

"..."

[ I won't say anything if the player is embarrassed… ]

Shen Mingze despite his embarrassment still bought the blanket, before heading towards the kid he also brought two meat buns with him.

When he finally got there, the little kid was no longer curling up like a ball but was instead picking up the pennies that had scattered all around earlier.

Shen Mingze saw him crawling around on the dirty and cold floor looking for the pennies with his small hands, sometimes the ones that he had managed to collect, he wouldn't be able to gather all of them in his hands and drop a few and then start fumbling around for them once again.

seeing him like this Shen Mingze felt his heart ache...

"Should I help?"

The kid flinched and looked up to see his face, Shen Mingze tried his best to look as friendly as possible. He must have failed very badly as the kid slowly began to back away, his pennies slipping fro his hands as he did so.

seeing them fall to the ground once again he looked like he was about to cry.

Seeing as how he had scared the kid he facepalmed internally, then he himself took a few steps back.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I just wanted to help."

Now that he saw him clearly the child was even smaller than he expected, he was probably three or four years old by the looks of it.

The kid no longer tried to step back any further but instead continued to stare at him, it seems like he was judging whether he was harmful or not.

"Can I help?"

The kid just stared at him for a while and then very slowly nodded, he then went back to collecting the pennies.

Along with Shen Mingze's help they were able to gather a total of thirty pennies, after counting them all the kid went searching again.

When Shen Mingze asked him how many pennies did he originally have, the child pointed three fingers in his direction.

After so much searching they still couldn't find any more pennies. The kid looked really sad but it seems like he didn't want to trouble him anymore so he stopped looking and sat back on his spot.

Shen Mingze felt really bad seeing him sad so he secretly brought out three pennies from his pocket and gave it to him.

The kid was very happy receiving his pennies and thanked him by bowing all the way down. The kid barely reached his knee after bending down; he just looked like a ball.

What he wasn't expecting was the kid actually gave him back those three pennies as thank you.

Shen Mingze then gave the kid the meat bun he brought earlier, at first the kid refused to take it but he agreed after Shen Mingze's repeated requests. while the kid was eating Shen Mingze covered him with the blanket.

This time the kid didn't say anything, he just burrowed deeper into the blanket. Maybe it was because he didn't want to keep rejecting Shen Mingze, maybe it was because it was just too warm to reject. probably a mixture of both reasons

Once again Shen Mingze looked at the kid, he looked like a small ball of fur being wrapped up in the blanket and was eating the dumpling like a hamster.

But if he looked closer he would notice that his eyes were sunken in, his complexion looked really bad and even though his hands weren't thin to the point of seeing bone he was clearly way thinner than other kids his age.

He doesn't know why he helped this kid today, he knows that he is not a good person.

Was it because he had gone through the same experience and felt some sort of kinship with this kid?

[ maybe this is a fateful encounter planned by heaven, should we adopt this kid, player? ]
