Honey, I’m home

Jack

Jack flopped down onto his bed. He flashed images of the night through his head. He looked at the five selfies Akilah took. Every thing about her is perfect. Her hair smells like cotton candy, her eyes look like a lightning storm, her lips were soft as feathers and her hands twisted with hers like a key in a lock. She saved a life. Right in front of him. Akilah was nothing like the girls at his old school. All selfish and rude. Fred met Daisy there, he says he got the only good one. At beaver creek however, Akilah was there. That made it perfect.

"Ah! I get it!" Fred said, suddenly standing by the door. Jack jumped. Upon seeing his older brother, Jack turned his phone off and put it under his blanket. "You're in love. Aren't you?"

"You know I don't do love, Fred." Jack stated rolling his eyes. When would he learn. Fred raised his eyebrows, slanted his hips and crossed his arms. "OK! Im dating a girl-" Fred snapped his fingers and pointed at Jack. Cutting him off.

"A GIRL? I knew it! Wait, a girl?" Fred exclaimed.

"Yes? Why not a girl." Jack said surprised that Fred was taking this so well. At his old school, Fred would discourage Jack from looking at girls.

"Well I just always assumed you were gay." Fred shrugged. Jack opened his mouth but then closed it. He could understand why Fred would think that. "Anyway, which lucky girl is it?" He asked.

"Akilah. She means nothing to me. It's for a dare." Jack regretted his words as soon as they left his mouth. Even if it was a cover, that sentence just made his stomach turn, and not in a good way.

"Not this again..." Fred started. Jack couldn't take it.

"NO! No. You do not get to tell me what to do! You broke Mom and Dad up. You do not get to decide my love life! I won't let you ruin this!" Jack suddenly burst out. He saw the hurt in Fred's eyes and felt bad. He knew he couldn't help what happened but it was too late now. Jack stormed out.

Akilah

Akilah was thinking. Jack must've been the most handsome man she had ever met. He was perfect and yet, out of all the girls in the school or even the whole world, he chose her. Akilah was thinking of one of her previous thoughts. 'What is my type?' In that moment Akilah decided that she knew. Jack. He was her type. She took off her makeup up and got dressed into her pyjamas. Akilah opened her phone to see a notification she had been waiting for.

Akilah giggled. They stayed up for hours talking and laughing. No one - not even Matthew - had ever made her laugh like that. Jack knew Akilah. She felt like he didn't change himself for her and she liked that.

Two weeks later, Akilah was in her room. It was a Tuesday night. Then she heard the motorcycle. She waited for the sound of the door. "Honey, I'm home!" Called Jack. Akilah ran down to greet him. She threw her arms around him.

"We're not married yet." Akilah laughed. Jack followed Akilah up to her room and sat down on her bed.

"Yet..." Jack muttered loud enough for Akilah to hear. She blushed. She was always blushing around Jack. They kissed.

"WHO IS THIS?" Matthew demanded. He looked angry. Akilah let him in through the window. "I know you!" Matthew said pointing directly at Jack. Jack stood up and moved in front of Akilah, shielding her from the wrath of one angry Mathew. They started to size each other up when Akilah moved between them.

"Stop! Matthew what are you doing?" Akilah shouted. Matthew shoved Akilah behind him.

"You are the reason that girl is dead!" Matthew started putting his arm in front of Akilah. She had had enough. She was not going to stand here while her two favourite guys fought like cats.

"MATTHEW!" She shouted. "get out. I love you but please, get out." Matthew glared daggers at Jack before climbing out the window.
