Another one broken

"Do you believe we'll be put out of the job one day?" Heimdall moved a pawn forward on the board.

"We'll be replaced, the job will never end or at least that's what I think." Another voice said, moving his knight toward an open space on the left.

"Being a god truly is taxing," Heimdall moved his bishop and the other voice laughed. "You always checkmate me."

"Regardless, that was a good game Heimdall." The voice said. "I heard there's an open space in the outcome department. A god went berserk causing WW1 in the process."

"I heard about that, his action will cause a series of wars to rage on in that world. WW2, the great collapse, even the end of time when the aliens invade."

"Do you believe the gods don't need emotion?"

"Why should I be the one to answer that? I am a mere time god. I don't deal with matters such as those, I believe someone of your status should be inclined to answer." Heimdall reset his pieces on the board.

"A life god doesn't do much either, giving life to a world doesn't mean I feel for them. It's just a job."

"You sure that's all it is, Seer?"

"What are you insinuating."

"You've gained an emotion or two, there are records of you acting on such accords."

"A god of life can also be a god of death." Seer reset his pieces on the board as well. "And I assume you don't want to end up like the fourth batch."

"No sir, I believe life is precious." Heimdall moved his knight.

"Have you told anyone about this?" Seer moved his knight as well.

"Sadness and joy, no. I haven't told anyone."

"That's good to hear." Seer moved a piece.

"..."

"Checkmate."

"That's the 50th time today, you truly understand how to-" Heimdall looked at the orbs in his chest, they were broken and Seer was laughing. "You bastard."

"You could predict my attack but that means nothing if you have no way of stopping it. Of course, this applies both ways."

"Why..." Heimdall's body got turned to dust and scattered inside the large room.

"You should've moved your rook." Seer got up and left the room. "It would be a shame, I actually enjoyed your company."

There are all sorts of gods in this world, gods that look over time, gods that look over space, gods that look over cause. However, getting too attached to your duty could develop a sort of pseudo-emotion inside of a god. This emotion corrupts them and makes them act using that feeling instead of clear and concise logic.

Ikarus was angry at the archduke so he had him killed without thinking about the outcome and Seer spent time overlooking his creations and caring about them. That he gained fulfillment and joy whenever creating life.

Ikarus's actions created a string of wars that would reign in that world until its untimely destruction and Seer's love for all life whether good or bad would make him turn a blind eye to someone as evil as Hitler.

"Ogun, you there?" Seer called out and someone phased through the wall. "Peer through the memories of everyone he's ever spoken to, we have to nip this in the bud."

"Yes sir," Ogun phased back through the wall.

"Is this how it feels to be broken, I feel like my mind has been shown countless new possibilities and realities." Seer covered his mouth to hide his excitement. "Is this how Ikarus felt? what a wonderful feeling this is."
