(Walson)
After the reconstruction of the village, we stayed in the newly born Josephton Village for quite some time. Besides preparing for our journey, we had a lot of information to organize, which I'll discuss shortly. For now, let's talk about other matters.
I leisurely sat on the tatami mat, gazing out at the square outside the shrine. Melon was practicing martial arts, striking forward with her fists in a rhythmic and powerful manner.
After that Wither Girl, Lori, attacked us, there was a time when Melon hardly had room in her mind for anything other than training. In fact, I could understand her perspective.
Lori Aivett displayed extraordinary strength, and all of us were easily defeated by her. It was normal to feel fear.
Now, it seems Melon has found a balance, and her lively spirit is truly refreshing to watch.
Hm? You guys are wondering about the tatami mats and the shrine? Don't worry, let me explain.
After I recovered, I built a shrine in this village. It's designed in a traditional Japanese style with a tall structure. I consider this shrine a significant construction, as many [Villagers] lost their lives during the monster attacks. Having an impressive shrine might help soothe the [Villagers]' emotions.
After all, this is Derisha's hometown, and Derisha is my future wife, so I must put in some effort.
"Thank you! I love you the most!" When she saw the shrine, she picked me up and kissed me firmly, her strength overwhelming. I couldn't break free from her hug, not that I want to though, despite how it looks, her hug was very gentle. It didn't make me uncomfortable; instead, I enjoyed the way her mountains pressed up against me...
Well, Derisha's breast are certainly more three-dimensional than others. Using the terms of my previous life, she's like a girl from Europe or America, with strong limbs and, well, prominent assets... Besides having a large frame, she also has substantial nighttime needs, and she's passionate to boot. She practically comes to me every night. Later, Grace joined the fray while pouting, and Melon would silently join...
Haha, the result of nightly revelry is waking up the next morning with a soft body that won't leave the bed...
Stop, let's stop these colorful fantasies. We can talk about such things after we reach the capital.
If life were just like this, it would be very pleasant, but some annoying people are here.
"No matter how many times you try to convince me, I won't agree. Going to fight the [Demon King] is your business, and I won't let them get involved in this mess. I won't provide any curse-breaking method, no matter how much money you offer. Sorry," I said impatiently, furrowing my brows.
"Walson, do you know how many people lost their lives in the [Demon King]'s plot while we argued? Your group members have power, but as a leader, you're just fooling around! Have you ever thought about the [Villagers] who died at the hands of the monsters?" With beautiful silver hair and delicate features, she was wearing a white shirt and brown pants, glaring at me with an angry expression after removing her armor.
"There is no need for me to think about it! I'm also a [Villager]! You want to push me into the battlefield? Have you ever thought about what would happen to me!?"
"You're being unreasonable!"
"Damn it! You call me indifferent? Don't forget that if you hadn't met me, you would probably have become a killer monster in the desert. With your strength, adventurers like you would've..."
"That's a different matter alltogether!"
The one I'm having a debate with is the female hero from the Western Nation, Felia Bell.
The girl who are on a journey, the most devout believer of the Goddess of Light, and carrying the great dream of saving people, this was a common trope in many passionate manga I had seen in my previous life. I always admired characters with determination and drive like her, but that was until she tried to forcefully impose her dream on me.
"...Watson, calm down," Grace, who stood nearby, approached and pulled me away. Felia, on the other side, was taken away by a woman in a blue robe.
"Tsk, I absolutely won't let you go on a dangerous mission willingly," I muttered.
So, let's start with the information we obtained this time, which led to the current situation.
There have been numerous events of monsters appearing in large numbers on the continent, and I initially suspected a connection to the Withering. However, that's not the case. After exchanging information with Felia, a completely new and unfamiliar force has emerged.
The [Demon King].
In countless works of games and novels on Earth, the Demon King are the counterpart to the protagonist as a hero, the mastermind behind the abnormal activities of monsters, and that [Dragonoid Demon King] is the target Felia aims to defeat.
Felia said that the [Demon King] who dispatched subordinates to this continent, causing chaos with monsters, is the King of Dragonoids, named Barosa.
Okay, let's summarize the other scattered pieces of information. A [Demon King] is about to invade this continent. Before that, he sent subordinates to incite monster chaos, leaving various countries struggling to deal with it. Afterward, he plans to launch a full-scale attack, annihilating all powers on the continent. The female hero's goal is to eliminate those subordinates first and then find and defeat the [Demon King], who is hiding somewhere.
However, when the female hero and her group accidentally killed the Dragonoid Demon King subordinate near Josephton Village, they were cursed by a trap. They all turned into unrecognizable monsters, and the case was closed.
It's all a mess. The situation is already chaotic with the Withering and the Church's affairs, and now a [Demon King] is appearing. Furthermore, when I integrate this information with my own, here's what it looks like:
There is more than one hero in the west now. For one, there's the "Holy King of Dragons," and combined with the girl in front of me, they have two heroes.
And there are definitely more than one [Demon King] in this world, Besides the [Dragonoid Demon King] they mentioned, I've seen another one, the [Demon King of Ruin] Lori Aivett. And going by what Lorilia mentioned, she also has a twin with white eyes, who is likely another [Demon King].
The [Dragonoid Demon King] is about to invade, and numerous [Demon King] subordinates have secretly infiltrated the continent. Currently, there's frequent monster rampaging in the central part of the continent, resulting in many deaths. If these subordinates aren't stopped, the continent will be engulfed in warfare.
Lori Aivett's twin with white eyes is causing Withering events on the continent, targeting the seven elemental guardians who protect the world's rules. If she isn't stopped, a formidable calamity may befall the world. I'm not sure what that would entail, but it definitely won't be a prosperous outcome.
Lastly, because of the [Miracle Water], the tensions between the Vantinom-Bishop Branch and the Vantinom-Grella branch have been escalating, and it might turn into a violent conflict. When that happens, without a [Demon King], we might destroy ourselves.
...Damn it, I used to think this world was peaceful. I had no idea it was just the calm before the storm, the eve of turmoil.
The so-called turmoil is when the phrase "suffering and devastation of living beings" appears in the script, and [Villagers] who don't understand the situation will inexplicably vanish.
And I, I don't think I can single-handedly solve any of this.
As for Grace and the others? No, I'm being stubborn. I won't let them go to the most dangerous front lines. Saving the world or whatever is always the hero's responsibility, not ours.
"Alright, I'm going to have dinner. Grace, come with me," ignoring the commotion in the shrine, I casually walked out of the building.
"...What's going on?" Responding to my words, Grace naturally approached.
"Pack up our things; we're leaving tonight."
