It can't be him

"E-e-e-enzo?"

"Is there something wrong?"he asks with concern.

I stare at him so hard trying to find a resemblance between him and the Enzo I once knew.

Their eyes match but not the hair. But his manners certainly haven't gone anywhere.

"Do you happen to know of... Hilda?"

His eyes go wide but the glow in them immediately fades away. "I did... But the war got us separated... I at least wish I knew what she was so eager to tell me the day before,"he mutters the last part to himself.

It's him.

"I'm Hilda... I'm Hilda!"I yell and hug him. I don't know why but tears start to spew out of my eyes as I bury my face into his chest.

"That's impossible."

"W-what?"I wipe my eyes and back away.

"You look nothing like her."

"It's been years Enzo... Things changed... I dyed my hair... I--"

"No... You're missing a birth mark,"he says. "It was right here,"he clarifies with a finger on my cheek.

"But... I never had a birth mark there."

"Because you're not Hilda."

"I am... If you could just take sometime to realize that... I'm sure--"

"Hey,"he interrupts and places his hands on my shoulders. "I'm sorry... But I don't know you."

Those words sank deeper than any vampire's fangs.

"Maybe you're mixing me up with someone."

"I'm not! We were childhood friends! It was you me and Seven that were always together and you always stood up for me against Ryan and anyone else that made fun of me! It was you Enzo! I'm sure!"

He stares at me looking staggered. "How about we talk about this later,"he insists and glances at his watch. "My schedule is hectic."

I heave a sigh and nod following behind him.

I just can't believe it's him. He's grown so much and he's certainly gotten a lot more handsome.

I just wish he could remember.

~~

I'm awestruck.

This is the hugest castle I've seen since I set foot here.

And it's all for him.

It's right in the middle of a not-so-thick forest and it's surrounded by pines and oaks. With stone walls and arch windows and a beautiful front porch decorated with comfy looking chairs.

"Wow."

"Let's proceed."

We walk up the steps and into the commodious living room. Then we head up the marble spiral staircase and into a golden hallway.

He leads me to the fifth room and opens the door. "You'll use here."

Holy cow!

It's a huge room painted black with a king sized bed in the middle. There's a dresser and a cute mahogany table set at a corner.

"Not so impressive, is it,"he mutters.

"You're kidding right? This is amazing!"

"Well if you say so,"he smiles. "The bathroom is behind that door,"he clarifies with a gesture. "I hope you know how to use one and properly bathe yourself... If you don't I can help."

I immediately feel a warm rush in my cheeks. "No-- I mean of course I can."

"Alright then... I'll have dinner sent up to you... Or would you rather eat in the dining room?"

I'll take any opportunity to explore this house. "Dining room."

"In that case, be down in an hour."

I nod in reply.

"And make sure to scream if anything happens."

"Anything like what?"

"Don't forget you're in a home that inhabits vampires... And you just happen to be their number one delicacy,"he grins.

"I thought you were the only one that lived here."

"Me and a few associates."

"Don't worry... You'll be fine,"he reassures me.

"So is this... My new home or something?"I ask.

"That reminds me... Why exactly were you out there on your own."

"Well... The vampire I was staying with nearly had me dead... So I ran away while I could."

"Well if this vampire is as strong as I am then he should be able to track you down in less than an hour."

"What?!"

Something tells me Jack is as strong as he is. And definitely very angry.

Like he would definitely slaughter me the moment he finds me here.

"Would you... Would you stop this vampire from hurting me if he finds me?"

"I have no right to do that... But I'll definitely try,"he says. "I should get going... Remember to be down in an hour."

I nod and he walks away.

"Enzo,"I sigh and walk into the room before shutting the door behind me.

I walk into the bathroom and take off my clothes. Then I turn on the facet and get in.

The hot water helps me relax. Like a lot.

I think I'll need more than an hour in here.

I feel a sting in my arm and quickly remember that I scratched it earlier.

Maybe I should have let him fix it. If only I knew earlier that he was Enzo. But I have no idea why he thinks I had a birth mark that I know I didn't.

It's not like I've even changed much over the past years. I'm still really short and my boobs have barely gotten bigger.

"Whatever."

In forty minutes I exit the bathroom and meet some folded clothes on my bed.

A pair of lace panties and a silk grey night gown. How thoughtful.

I slip them on and exit the room. I descend the steps and try to locate the dining room.

But something catches my attention.

I hear a voice down the hallway and I see a light coming from a room with some shadows moving around.

I tiptoe down there to see what's going on.

I peep into the room to see those three werewolf boys from earlier kneeling in the middle of the room.

Sitting in front of them is Enzo looking calm yet livid.

"So I trust you to take a one minute stroll for "fresh air" as you referred to it. But instead you decide to devour someone out in the open... What if someone saw you?"

"But no one did... That's the point,"one of them replies. The other two glance at him like he's gone crazy.

Enzo walks up to him. "Were you talking to me?"

Before the guy can reply, he kicks him in the face so hard that I distinctly see two of his teeth fly out of his mouth.

I gasp and hide behind the wall hoping he didn't hear me.

I can't believe that's the same guy that was literally flirting with me earlier.

After that I hear a few more kicks and punches and "oofs" and painful coughs.

Probably he's still on the same guy.

"You need a lesson on respect... But you need to be thought like the animal you are,"I hear Enzo tell him. "Luckily I'm here to do that."

This is the last thing I expected from him. He could be worse than Jack and I don't know it.

Maybe this isn't the Enzo I know after all.

Maybe--

"Hilda."

I freeze in my spot too scared to turn around.

"Now you're definitely in trouble,"he chuckles.

"You've seen too much."
