Chapter 2 - I Will Find You

It's been three months since that incident, a few weeks after it happened I decided to take my brother and move to the next town. We've been living with a homeless man who decided to give us shelter with what little he had and for the two months that followed, I've been the one who did all the stealing while he took care of my brother, it was a win-win situation. One day while I was out I heard a loud ringing in my ear and panicked, covered my ears with both hands and waited for the ringing to stop, but it didn't then I heard his voice. The e voice of the man whom I had left my brother with, my own fear was reaching it's peak knowing he has my brother, I dropped everything and ran, feeling a sudden rush of energy in my legs, in a matter of minutes I will standing a few metres away from a police vehicle watching as two officers handcuffed the homeless man and walked him to the car but my brother wasn't with him. Without a second thought I rushed and shoved him against the car with fear in my eyes I demanded, "Where is he?! Tell me!" The two officers quickly gathered themselves, shock evident in their expressions but just pushed me aside, the man seemed too afraid to speak, I thought it was because of the cops but he's fearful gaze were staring directly at me. I didn't think twice about what had happened I just turned and with all the adrenaline in my system ran to and all around the run down shack that we were currently living in. I thought that with the police siren on, my brother would cry but nothing, no sound, his baby blanket that he'd sleep on wasn't there. With all the grief, fear and guilt built up in me I ran out into the snowy night and cried my heart out until all the oxygen in my lungs are gone. I fell on the snow and just laid there for what felt like hours feeling a cold breeze wash over me before I heard it, a faint beating, I didn't know what to think of it but I knew it was a heartbeat then it hit me, the scent, goddess knows I would recognise it anywhere in the world, it's his. Hope now deeply gnawing at my heart, I got up struggling to stand on my now almost frozen limbs and followed it, my brother's scent was rather faint in the wind but what scared me the most was that I caught two more signatures almost enveloping his scent, with every energy I could muster started off with a jog then ran as fast as I could. It took a few minutes before I found myself standing a few meters away from two strangers, a man and a woman and in her arms, my brother wrapped up in blankets, asleep. My growls seemed to have caught their attention because now we all stood there eyes locked in silence then a sudden rush of dominance and power overcame me, "Give me my brother!" The couple just stood there looking at me in stock and fear, from their scents I could tell that the man was a human and the woman a werewolf. As if realisation hit her, carefully got on her knees and bared her neck in submission. My patience was wearing thin by the second and without a second thought I rushed toward them but with every step, every breath I could feel my strength leaving my body as exhaustion took over. The man stood protectively in front of the woman with a gun in hand, my growling must have woken my brother because the last thing I remember is him calling out to me. I lay there motionless on the snow, as I took my final breath, darkness overcame me.
