Ch48. Never-ending questions

Erick looked at the old man with the eye patch, and at his subordinate, who looked like a brat from the sixties.

The two didn't have very friendly faces, and given the distance they were from Erick, all he could do was think, and let out a tired, defeated sigh.

'Shit, even Blackout won't work at that distance. And even if it did, spending all my energy just to avoid being shot would be a waste...'

One last thought crossed his mind, and accepting his situation, Erick turned in the direction of the road, still invisible, obscured by the sight of the hill ahead in the clearing.

"Am I going in the right direction?" Erick asked.

"Clever boy, now start walking." The old man replied, grunting. "Keep him at a safe distance, Elliot. We don't know what he might be capable of, so keep your guard up."

'Son of a bitch... The bastard's smart.'
