39| The other woman

THIRD PERSON POV.

At exactly two minutes past eight in the morning, Triana dropped Dave at the hotel Alyssa's staying. Too bad she has to rush up to morning duty at the hospital but would be back later in the evening to say hi to her bestie.

It didn't take Dave up to two minutes before he got to Alyssa's door. Triana already made everything easy for him by telling him about her room number and so on. Meanwhile, his younger brother, Dexter, also gave him some cool hints on how to go easily with the flow.

Hope it works at well? Is she still mad or on a low-key?

"Just a moment." The tiny voice comes from inside the room.

Dave heard the footsteps approaching. He's not nervous to meet her unlike Triana the other day. He's ready for this and that's why he's here.

Could it be that Triana didn't just had something urgent to do at the hospital and just wanted the two to spend time solving their issues together?

Immediately the door opened, Alyssa was seen as a full view from top to bottom of her stature standing by the door. Dave looked down at her and they were both speechless for a moment. Actually, Alyssa is the most speechless between them both. Because, she was expecting him to be frank with. He was the last person that would come up in her mind for today's activity.

He took his time in silence as he study her through her eyes. Then he later said something after seconds passed by, "May I come in?"

Any girl in Alyssa's shoes has the fundamental right to turn him down and walk him out but she didn't. Instead, Alyssa moved aside without saying a word to him. She shut the door after he walked in.

His eyes still not leaving the entire place as he study the room in four corner places.

"Empresso?" She asked, hiding a strand behind her ear.

"No, I'm fine." His chin cupped as he takes a seat on the black couch behind him.

Alyssa took a deep breath before taking a seat on the couch opposite his. Something makes him feel somehow guilty. Sitting opposite to the woman he once loved in the past, he would be lying if he says he never missed what they share and her beauty sitting elegantly in front of him.

Even still, he tried to brush off those thoughts. They're in the past now. He has moved on and he already has someone else in his life. Someone so dare to him and very special. He doesn't want to break the woman's heart because of the woman who bore him a child.

Killing the awkwardness, he cleared his throat and started with what brought him to her place. "I want to first of all apologize for how I treated you the other day." His eyes looking at his fidgeting fingers on his thighs. "That wasn't nice of me, I'm deeply sorry for the embarrassment."

What could Alyssa do? Other than to show a little forgiveness by giving him a forced light smile that faded so quickly. She would be deceiving herself if she say she didn't miss this handsome man seated before her. For her, there's still a space in her heart whether the devil knows it or not.

"I've come to realize that..." His words breaking as he lifts his head to look to her. "The boy is actually my son and I'm ready to be his father." A dancing butterfly uplifted Alyssa's belly, causing her to blush for the first time in one week. "I want to take full responsibility, so if you don't mind, when do you want us to meet? Perhaps....you can tell me few things about him so I get to prepare for his coming."

Alyssa exhaled, sitting upright with both hands rested on her knees. "Well, actually.... Chris, just completed sixteen last week. He lives with my parents in Smallville town, he attends a public school there. I was living alone in NY before I moved there and then to Swizz."

She paused for a moment, inwardly asking herself whether to proceed of just hide some real facts from him.

No, since he wants to hear everything about him, she'll tell him. She can't deprive him of his own blood.

"He's um....." She rubbed her forehead. "He's been asking about you since he was a child. He wanted to meet you and know you and have you next to him at all time." She wiped her nose from letting it sound like she's emotional. "I never knew what it felt like growing up without a dad, so I hope he never blamed me all these while." An awkward chuckle left her mouth but that didn't hide the fact that she was tearing up already.

"Are you cry—"

"Oh no, I'm just overthinking that's why." She chuckled again, wiping her eyes and cursing herself underneath her breath for embarrassing herself in front of him.

He exhaled sharply, keeping his cool. His eyes still viewing random spots in the room.

"Do you....." She bit her lower lip as the word comes out curiously. "Do you have someone now?"

She knew it's not in her place to ask such question of him.

"Yes." He simply answered.

Alyssa hated herself for asking such question. She's here thinking he might wanna get back to her because they had a son but now she don't think it'll work according to her mindset.

"Miranda is a very good woman and I love her so much." These few words are enough to make Alyssa lose her breath, infact, her lungs too. But she kept clutching tightly onto the couch's skin. "Though, she doesn't live the same country with me because of work but.....we trust ourselves and would do anything to keep our bonds and relationship firm."

Okay, this is enough. She might lose her ghost in no time. Everything about him in her heart quickly dissipated and nothing remains.

He knew how terrified she would be because she couldn't utter a single word when he finished. Her eyes never met with his as she continued staring at a particular spot on the ground.

Not until he heard trickling sounds and sniffles, then he suspected something. His heart melted. Maybe he might have said something wrong in his statements.

He quickly arose from his seat and sat beside her.

"No, no, no, please don't." She shook her head vigorously, sniffing her nose when he wanted to reach for her face. "I don't deserve pity." She wiped her face with the back of her hand, "You.... should go now. No woman would want to see their man in another woman's chamber."

"I understand." He added quietly before taking out a cheque book and pen from his black jacket's pocket. After jotting down a few things, he handed it to her. "Have this."

"What's it for?" She asked, taking it from him slowly. Her eyes bugged after sighting the digits and figures. "Five hundred thousand dollars?" She gasped. "What the hell am I gonna do with five grands?"

"This should be able to cover up for our son's upkeep and expenses for the next sixty days." He said, shoving his pen and cheque book back to his pocket. "But just Incase it's not enough..." He passed her one of his complimentary cards and she took it also. "Call me or send a text with your bank details."

"But..." Her lips parted, yet, no suitable words to say. Where does she start from? With these money, her debt and issues would be solve in the next thirty minutes. "This is too much." Is she kidding right now?

Huh!

She must be.

She really gat to be kidding.

"It's for our son's sake. He missed my fatherly love while growing up but I don't want him to miss the most of it anymore." He stated. "Let him know I'll be meeting him soon. I'll fix a date for him to come see me. And secondly, I'd like to change his school. Put him in a private school, I want him to have the best education. I'll pay for that, you don't have to worry." He stood up, his both hands in his front pockets. "I'll take my leave now. Take care of yourself, bye."

He didn't even gave her time to process anything in her brain as he opens the door and walked out quietly. Alyssa's eyes went back to the cheque in her palms. Is this a dream to her? He was here to settle things materially.

But all those times she was having delusional thoughts that he might want to come back to her life someday or maybe wanna settle down maritally.

What a bad call.

She would only say that, that Miranda woman is indeed very lucky to have a man like Dave in her life. Alyssa just wish she was the woman. She swear never to break his heart again.

But as it seems now, she has to move on too. He has moved on and maybe anytime soon, they'll be announcing their wedding.

She has to find someone that'll also love and cherish her despite her condition as an hypoglycaemia patient.

Quickly, she got up and reached for the cigarette pack on top of the shelf. With the help of a lighter, the cigarettes was ready to be smoked. Alyssa smoked her soul away, crying and sobbing over how much Dave loved the other woman and not her.

Oh she wished.... assuming it was just her. Assuming she never fucked things up or messed up their happy relationship just because she was in lust with his classmate and the other dudes she had banged in highschool.

She wished time could revise back so she could make amendments. She really loves him and still wants him back for herself again.

But for now......

She has to try her possible best to forget about him, the memories and all if she doesn't want to end up being the other woman instead.
