"The Quiet Rupture," a phenomenon that appeared one day all around the world. People that were present in open spaces were instantly killed by internal organ combustion. As the causes and origin of the Rupture are still being researched, humanity has holed up underground, being controlled by the ruthless sub-surfacers, who stuff humans into tiny capsules in order to avoid the repercussions of the rupture.
