No Man’s Land

As he walked towards the villagers, A Lu Zhi observed the reactions and expressions on the villagers' faces. Looking at the vigilance and slight fear in the villagers' eyes, he kept his smiling expression.

Standing not far from the villagers, A Lu Zhi smiled politely and said, "Good morning, uncles and aunties."

The villagers looked at each other for a while, and the oldest man looked at A Lu Zhi and said, "Good morning, child. What brought you to our poor village?"

A Lu Zhi noticed that although the villagers were wary of him and his second elder brother, they were still kind enough to be willing to talk to them. Still with a polite smile on his lips, he said, "We just wanted to ask some questions."

The old man in his sixties looked at A Lu Zhi and A Lu Yu. He narrowed his eyes at the sight of their dirty clothes made of animal hides. Thinking that the two were hunters, he nodded and said, "If we can answer your questions, we will answer you."
