Was It His Fault For Not Realizing It Sooner?

Inside the Begonia Room, away from the prying eyes.

Old Madam Shen sat on a bamboo chair in the middle of the room. Asher stood next to her, a menacing aura leaking from him.

On the left side, an anxious-looking Shelley clung to the frowning Audrey as they sat on the double seater. Opposite them were Alvin and Shaelyn. The newlyweds appeared so unsettled.

In front of Old Madam Shen, Elaine sat on the wooden floor carpeted with a bamboo mat. A long and baggy cotton dress was worn over her sheer nightgown. Dry tears stained her face.

"Asher, tell me," Old Madam Shen's slightly shaky voice broke the heavy silence in the room, "What has truly happened? Why... even Alvin and Shaelyn are here?"

Old Madam Shen was still awake when she noticed the peculiar atmosphere and uncanny movement happening in the ancestral home. When she tried checking, Audrey already came looking for her.
