Seeing the relieved look on Alfie's youthful face softened Liliana's smile. It was so different from how anxious he appeared the first time he stepped inside the office with Harris earlier.
Maybe, just maybe that the teenager had been wearing such a worn-out look for a long time, beginning after the disaster that befell his father.
Such young ones like Alfie and Harris shouldn't bear the weight of the world. But, more often than not, they had no other option aside from shouldering the burden.
It was impossible for Liliana or anyone else to alleviate the load on every children's back all around the world but, a helping hand should still be extended to anyone they could assist. It was better than nothing.
"Alfie," Liliana gently called the teenager's name.
Both Alfie and Harris paid attention to the older woman sitting opposite them. The wisdom she carried lured them to her, hoping to receive more.
