Letting Down Her Guard

"Why don't you take a seat first? Let me get you some water."

Lucas broke the silence before he hurriedly went out of the baking kitchen, leaving a speechless Liliana. His tall figure quickly disappeared behind the door.

Liliana pursed her lips. She placed one of her palms over her cheek, thinking if they were reddening right now. With a shy look, she helped herself to a high chair at the side table.

"So... this is the kitchen before the cafe opens."

Liliana wandered her gaze around the baking kitchen, finding herself in a world of flour and sugar. It had a slightly different air than the other times Lucas baked. She wondered if it was because the sun had yet to rise.

Various kinds of bread were being baked thoroughly in the industrial ovens. A few whole cakes and petite ones were kept inside the large chillers.
