Old Master Ding's voice blared in the drawing room, surprised by what Liliana had just told him. Anger was evident in his expression.
"He treated the case... as if it didn't exist," replied Liliana, sounding so disheartened.
Looking back, Liliana thought how foolish she was for putting her hope in Thomas, the man who betrayed her mother's love. He already showed signs of how unreliable and scummy he could be.
Despite not knowing everything in depth, Liliana couldn't help but regret the time she hoped he would fully accept her as his daughter.
"Second Uncle was the one who told me the truth," Liliana resumed talking after heaving a deep sigh, "He noticed I tried investigating. That man... my father buried the case shortly after I entered the Xin house."
