The promotions about Morpheus Online had been very popular and the people were certainly intrigued by it. But that didn't mean that everyone would be playing the game. At the very least, at this point in time their user base was a fraction of what Arthur knew of in the future.

This was due to several factors such as, people simply not having the spare money to get the Dream Pod or simply not having an interest in games. There were also some that thought of it to be a waste of time, despite the fact that Morpheus Online was meant to replace one's sleep time.

Even in the case of people who did have a Dream Pod, there were many that still preferred to sleep on a normal bed rather than the Dream Pod. Even for Arthur, he did like to take a nap on a normal bed from time to time.
