Chapter 33: The Bean Has Left the Building

Lydia's POV.

We drive in Sebastian's car through a bramble woods across the Havenwood estate. My knee bounces and Gigi, stuck in the middle of the backseat between Beatrice and me, elbows me in the ribs.

"Sorry your mom tried to kill you," she says.

"Sorry yours is dead."

Beatrice snorts, "I am glad you both are on my side."

I look out the window at the woods, darkness, and silvery moonlight.

Sebastian turns off his headlights as we approach the house my mother has lived in all my life. There's a fountain in the front, and it looks like no one is home.

"Uncle Silas is here," Gigi says.

"How do you know?"

"Cause our housekeeper Violet, her son David delivers packages on his bike, and there are fresh dirt bike tracks in the pea gravel." Gigi King grins, "Uncle Silas' dirty little secret is how much he gets delivered from Amazon. Like a normal person."

"He's a basic b*tch."
